there were about 20-25 people there, after the uysual congressspeak, I asked tonko if he had voted for "cut, cap and balance", he said he did not and when I asked him why not, he said because it did not have any revenue increase. I asked him how he felt about reid not allowing a debate in the senate. surprise, he said that any legislation passed by the house deserved to be debated in the senate.
I observed a few democrats who appeared to be a little disturbed by the lack of action on the part of senate democrats on the debt crisis. I found that none of them ever watched Fox News because they were told not to by the local democrat leadersd. They were surprised that JUAN WILLIAMS, BOB BECHTEL, ALAN COLMES AND OITHER LIB ERAL DEMOCRATS WERE REGULARS ON FOX. I ADVFISED THEM TO CHECK IT OUT FOR THEMSELVES INSTEAD IN TQAKING OTHER PEOPLES WORD. I ALSO INFORMED THEM THE TEA PARTY TO THEM OF AN OPEN FORUM FOR AMERICANS OF EVERY POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS, ETC MIX OF AMERICANS WHO DON'T ALWAYS AGREE WITH EACH OTHER BUT ALWAYS RESPECT EACH OTHERS RIGHT AND DUTY TO EXPLORE THE ISSUES AND FORM THEIR OWN OPINION, I TOLD THEM WE WERE NOT COMMITTED TO ANY ONE PERSON OR MANAGEMENT GROUP BUT WERE FREE TO EXPRESS OUR OWN OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS IN AN OPEN FORUM. I HOPE THAT I CONVINCED SOME OF THEM THAT THEY SHOULD NOT FOLLOW BLINDLY ANY POLITICAL ORGINIZATION BUT TO BE IN DEPENDENT IN THEIR OWN THINKING.
I WAS SHOCKED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT IN A FREE SOCIETY WE ARE ALL FREE TO VOTE FOR ANY INDIVIDUAL CANBDITATE. THEY WERE BELIEVING THAT BEING REGHISTERED IN A POLITICAL MEANT THAT THEY COULD NOT VOTE FOR ANY ONE EXCEPT THAT PARTY CANDITATES. I HOPE I WAS ABLE TO EDUCATE SOME OF THEM THAT THEIR VOTE WAS A FREE AND NON OBLIGATORY DUTY.
