Mueller also ignored the liar-Clinton involvement in a scheme with Ukraine as well as the liar-Clinton-Russia connection. But he’s all over President Trump’s personal business records that have absolutely nothing to do with collusion. Downer is alleged to have engaged George Papadopoulos in a conversation that led to the fabricated Russia collusion witch hunt, but no mention was made by the FBI. It was exposed by journalists from The Hill, not through the honesty or integrity of the FBI...

If CFIUS determines that the transaction poses national security concerns that cannot be resolved, it will refer the transaction to the President which the President has 15 days after completion of CFIUS’s investigation to decide. The President must publicly announce his decision. CFIUS provides an annual report to Congress, but the last report was dated 2015. This report is in accordance with section 721(m) of the Defense Production Act of 1950 and the amended section of the Foreign Investment and National Security Act of 2007...

Why Antonin Scalia Still Matters 

by Todd Johnson:  This upcoming Sunday would have been Antonin Scalia’s 82nd birthday. In the two years since his untimely passing, his towering intellect and animated presence has been sorely missed on the Supreme Court — notwithstanding the good work of Neil Gorsuch. A legal titan, Scalia’s strict adherence to the concepts of textualism and originalism made his written opinions “must read” material for the conservative movement. Sadly, his passing silenced a significant voice in the judiciary, but thankfully, he left us with a voluminous amount of public speeches and opinions that should serve as a beacon to all Americans who believe in the conservative cause in 2018.

          Scalia devoted his life to the study of the law, and more importantly, the Constitution. A voracious reader throughout his life, Scalia learned that the creation of the Constitution was the result of compromise and, as he stated in a speech in 1991, “a spirit of humility.” His respect and admiration for its creators led him to view their product as “not living, but dead, or, as I prefer to call it, enduring. It means today not what current society, much less the court, thinks it ought to mean, but what it meant when it was adopted.
          He was a firm believer that the role of the United States judiciary was to interpret laws, but not in a way that would usurp power from the legislative or executive branches.
          In an era where many people seek to denigrate the contributions of our Founding Fathers, Scalia’s lucid prose serves as a clarion call to truly understanding what makes our nation so unique and special. He challenged all of his fellow citizens to read and study The Federalist Papers because, “The Constitution will endure … only to the extent that it endures in your understanding and affection.
          That is why Scalia was such a staunch advocate of an informed citizenry. He realized that the fate of the country was dependent upon the civic and moral education of its people. That’s why one of the main themes in many of his speeches was virtue.
          In the critically acclaimed book, Scalia Speaks: Reflections on Law, Faith, and Life Well Lived, the editors illuminate the late justice’s passion for education and advocacy for people to get involved in the political process. Scalia said that the limitations on democracy can only be defined by the people themselves, not a committee of judges. “And it is only the people themselves who can add or subtract from those limitations, through the amendment provision of the Constitution.
          That is why it is imperative that Republican voters make the effort to campaign, as well as vote, in this fall’s upcoming election. The last mid-term election (2014) saw the lowest turnout rate in 70 years. Couple that with the fact that only twice since World War II has the minority party not picked up seats and you have a scenario where every vote will have a real impact on the future of our country.
          Justice Scalia believed that the future of the United States was only limited by the willingness of its people to get involved and make a difference. Out of the thousands of words that he composed during his lifetime there is one passage that truly captures the essence of his love for America:
          “It is a belief that seems particularly to beset modern society that believing deeply in something, and following that belief, is the most important a person can do. … I am here to tell you that it is much less important how committed you are than what you are committed to.
          Only time will tell if conservatives will heed this call to action.   ~The Patriot Pos

Reporter Kicked Out Of Michelle Obama
Conference For Violating ‘Black Girl Code’

The Black Entertainment Television channel recently hosted a conference in south Florida for black women known as “Leading Women Defined,” which featured a casual conversation between former first lady Michelle Obama and former senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.

But according to the New York Post’s Page Six, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who was in attendance was booted from the remainder of the conference after she wrote an article about some of the comments Obama had made during the discussion.

Robin Givhan, a fashion critic and staff writer for The Washington Post, documented the highlights of the friendly chat between Obama and Jarrett.

Some of the highlights of the conversation included the former first lady’s thoughts on President Donald Trump’s inauguration as the Obamas prepared to leave the White House, the role she played during the 2008 election, her difficulty settling in as “the spouse” to the president, how she described her White House garden as a “subversive act” to garner trust with the public and her upcoming memoir. Of course Givhan also wrote about what Obama was wearing … after all, she is a fashion critic.

But following the publication of the article, according to Page Six, BET demanded Givhan leave the conference early amid claims that she had violated a “sacred space” by publishing the content of the conversation.

They also canceled a panel discussion that Givhan initially had been asked to moderate.

However, Page Six noted that BET’s claim that Obama’s discussion was “private” and not intended to be shared with anyone else outside the small gathering in attendance didn’t hold up to scrutiny given the fact that BET itself posted clips from the discussion on its site.

Furthermore, Jarrett also posted those clips on social media and told everyone to “tune in” to the network so they could hear what Obama had to say.

Shortly thereafter, the dispute descended into a sharp back-and-forth on social media between Givhan and others who were irked at what she had done, as can be seen on Givhan’s Twitter feed.

Several of her critics asserted that the conversation had been “off-the-record” — an assertion Givhan flatly denied — and one user claimed the reporter had “violated a sacred trust” between black women.

Another said what she had done was a “complete violation of journalistic ethics and Black girl code, all at once,” while still another asserted through a hashtag that Givhan was “#notoneofus,” as if she were being banished from the exclusive realm of accepted professional black women.

For their part, a BET representative told Page Six that Givhan had been “invited as a guest (not working press) to moderate a fashion panel,” and noted that her travel and lodging expenses had been paid for by the network.

“She was made aware that it was an intimate conversation in a sacred space of sisterhood and fellowship,” the rep added.

Neither Givhan nor representatives for Obama responded to requests for comment on the report from Page Six.

If the WaPo reporter really was instructed ahead of time that the conversation between Obama and Jarrett was “off the record” and a private affair, but published anyway, then BET was justified in booting her from the remainder of the conference — though the mean-spirited commentary she received on social media still crossed the line.

But if Givhan received no prior warning on the matter — and given the fact that BET itself published the conversation later — then this is just a major display of hypocrisy and unnecessary infighting.
