HILLY’S LITMUS TEST IS ALL ABOUT HER
Hilly Clinton told Iowa supporters on Monday that she would only select judges who would reverse a Supreme Court decision in favor of her political opponents. Presidential candidates usually avoid offering litmus tests for Supreme Court appointments because it sounds icky to say that you want a jurist who is supposed to be impartial to be, well, partial. That’s why liberals and conservatives use conceptual language and code words – e.g. “equality” or “fidelity to the Constitution” – to signal to political supporters what kind of judges they would appoint. It’s also why the court is, to some degree, less of a predictable partisan organ than the other two branches of government.
But Clinton showed no such restraint in her promise that she would pick only judges who agreed with her that the high court “made a grave error with Citizens United.” She was referring to a conservative group that won a 2010 decision that ruled the federal government did not have the constitutional authority to block the release of a film the group produced attacking Clinton ahead of her first run for president.
It’s good primary politics for Clinton. Liberals, who overwhelmingly favor restoring and increasing federal regulations of elections, deplore the decision. The ruling had the effect of removing blackout dates on spending by outside groups like Citizens United as well as the political action committees that Clinton and other politicians designate as their preferred vehicles for unlimited fundraising and spending.
But this is an unsavory space all the same. A presidential candidate unabashedly calling for a litmus test for potential justices is unorthodox. A presidential candidate imposing a litmus test on a case in which she is involved is almost certainly unprecedented. The name of the film at issue in the case was “Hilly: The Movie.”
Consider: If a Republican candidate said he or she would only appoint justices who believed nObamaCare to be unconstitutional it would be rightly seen as undercutting the independence of the judiciary and advocating executive overreach. If that Republican candidate had been part of the unsuccessful lawsuit to overturn nObamaCare and had been personally harmed by the decision it would rightly be seen as a banana republic move to reverse the decision by blatantly packing the court.
Clinton may be getting a free pass from Democrats in the primaries, but an Argentine campaign promise like this may not sit well with general election voters already suspicious of Clinton’s dynastic intentions.  -Fox News

Kelly File:  Christie drops his support for special status for illegals -Bloomberg: “By his own admission, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has changed his tune. On Monday, Christie said that he now opposes providing a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, something he supported as recently as 2010. ‘I think that’s an extreme way to go,’ Christie said in an interview on Fox News’ The Kelly File [that aired] Monday night. ‘And I think that, quite frankly, what Hilly Clinton’s doing right now is pandering. That’s pandering. We need to have an intelligent conversation about this and bring the American people along to where we can find consensus.’”
“As far as Marco goes, as I’ve said before, I like Marco a lot, I think he’s a very good guy, a very bright guy, but I really believe the next President of the United States has to be a governor.  You need to have the experience governing.  We’ve had the experience of a one-term U.S. Senator going to the White House and I don't think it works well.” – Gov. Chris Christie on “The Kelly File”

 OBVIOUSLY NOT A CARDS FAN
A St. Louis man named “West” came up with a novel approach when confronted by a wannabe thief in Seattle last week: He used his hometown’s reputation to ward off his attacker. St. Louis Magazine:  “West…turned around to see the man pull a black handgun, possibly a Glock, out of a paper bag and point it at West, according to the [police] report. That’s when West broke it down St. Louis style…. [According to the report] West stated that he is from St. Louis and was not going to be robbed…. West said, ‘So what are you going to do with that big ass pistol? If you wanna rob me I ain’t got nothing. If you decide to do this we’re gunna go heads up!’ In case you’re not sure what ‘heads up’ means, the Seattle Police define it in the report:  ‘Heads up’ means fighting each other fist to fist.’ After West’s verbal beatdown, the gunman put his weapon back into a paper bag…”

State Dept. Knew Terrorists Were Planning Benghazi Attack
The State Department knew that al-Qaida-backed jihadists perpetuated the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the Benghazi consulate the day after the attack that killed four Americans. On Sept. 12, State released a secret memo including "not finally evaluated intelligence" that had none of the nObama administration's false narrative about a spontaneous protest over a YouTube video. "The attack was planned ten or more days prior on approximately 01 September 2012," the memo said. "The intention was to attack the consulate and to kill as many Americans as possible to seek revenge for U.S. killings of Aboyahiye ((ALALIBY)) in Pakistan and in memorial of the 11 September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center buildings." The document was pried loose from State by Judicial Watch, which also released documents showing the nObama administration knew of the looming threat of Syrian violence before the civil war broke out. Judicial Watch's Tom Fitton asserted that if the public knew in 2012 what it knows now regarding the nObama administration's conduct surrounding the Benghazi attack, "Mitt Romney might very well be president." More...

White House finally steps up warnings about jihad terror on US soil
(pamelageller.com) - More positive developments in the wake of the Garland jihad attack on our free speech event on May 3rd. The nObama administration, after years of denial, obfuscation and whitewash, has finally admitted the jihad threat at home... U.S. authorities have raised defenses at U.S. military bases, put local police forces on alert and increased surveillance at the nation’s airports, railroads, shopping malls, energy plants and other potential targets. Behind the scenes, U.S. authorities have raised defenses at U.S. military bases, put local police forces on alert and increased surveillance at the nation’s airports, railroads, shopping malls, energy plants and other potential targets. Driving the unease are FBI arrests of at least 30 Americans on terrorism-related charges this year in an array of “lone wolf” plots, none successful, but nearly all purportedly inspired by Islamic State propaganda or appeals.       http://pamelageller.com/2015/05/white-house-finally-steps-up-warnings-about-jihad-terror-on-us-soil.html/

Netanyahu: Jerusalem won’t be divided again
(Marissa Newman) - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday vowed that Jerusalem would never be split in any peace deal with the Palestinians, and said construction throughout the capital would continue, despite international criticism... In a Knesset speech marking Jerusalem Day, which was on Sunday, the prime minister goaded opposition leader Isaac Herzog to clarify his position vis-à-vis Jerusalem and concessions he would be willing to make to the Palestinians. The challenge prompted an angry response from Herzog, who maintained he would never divide Jerusalem, while accusing Netanyahu of calling its unified status into question. “It doesn’t mean that there are no problems, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t tasks [ahead of us]. There is a lot to perfect, and a lot to improve, but we will not go backwards.”       http://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-jerusalem-construction-our-natural-right/

Fall of Ramadi Raises Questions nObama’s Strategy to Defeat ISIS
(James Phillips) - The seizure of the city of Ramadi by the Islamic State (or ISIS) on Sunday was a major setback for the Iraqi government and for the Obama administration... Although U.S. officials downplayed the significance of the defeat, saying that Ramadi was not “strategic” in a military sense, Ramadi is a very important political symbol because it is the capital of Anbar province, the predominantly Sunni Arab western province that has been a stronghold for the Islamic State and its predecessor organizations, ISIS and al-Qaeda in Iraq. The panicked retreat of Iraqi police and security forces from Ramadi underscores the continued weakness of the Iraqi army and police. It also raises questions about the viability of the nObama administration’s strategy to defeat the Islamic State in Iraq.       http://dailysignal.com/2015/05/19/fall-of-ramadi-raises-questions-about-obamas-strategy-to-defeat-isis-in-iraq/?utm_source=heritagefoundation&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=dailydigest&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRojs6vBZKXonjHpfsX56%2BQpWqS%2BlMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4JT8RqI%2BSLDwEYGJlv6SgFQrLBMa1ozrgOWxU%3D

Crunch Time for US Senate on Trade, Surveillance
(Michael Bowman) - A U.S. Senate accustomed to plodding through legislation has a few days to act on three major bills or cancel at least part of next week’s scheduled Memorial Day recess... With legislation pending on a mammoth trade pact, the scope of domestic anti-terror efforts and national highway funding, Republican Majority Leader Mitch McCon-nell Tuesday urged senators to “keep the ball moving.” Monday, McCon-nell advised his colleagues against making travel plans to depart Washington. “The Senate will finish its work on trade this week, and we will remain in session as long as it takes to do so,” he said. Sure sounds like dinky Reid, but its McCon-nell. I do hope that the senate will vote against the TPP bill.        http://www.voanews.com/content/crunch-time-for-us-senate-on-trade-surveillance-infrastructure/2777386.html

Getting Away with It: What Has Happened to Rule of Law?
(Douglas Murray) - A veteran of the 1968 protest movements once confided what, looking back, troubled him about his generation's rebellion. "All young people rebel." he said. "What is strange is that our parents' generation gave in."... It is a sentiment that could just as easily be applied to modern Britain, if not the West. It is not surprising that people do bad things. What is surprising is that so many institutions and authorities allow them to get away with it. Take the Rotherham child sexual abuse scandal. This is just one of a large number of cases around the UK where groups of men -- whom the media identify as "Asian" but who are almost entirely Muslims of Pakistani origin -- have been found to have selected young non-Muslim white girls, often in care homes, and subjected them to multiple rapes. It is sadly to be expected that there will always be people seeking to prey on the young and vulnerable. But the question that hangs over Rotherham -- and which even the latest independent review could not fully answer -- is why so many people got away with these crimes for so long. Certainly part of the reason, as the latest report explains, was that the police were terrified of being accused of racism. But even this remains only a partial explanation. How could grown men and women have so feared being called a name (in this instance, unjustly) that they were willing to allow literally hundreds of young women to be raped and gang-raped?       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5777/britain-rule-of-law

How the Islamic Republic Is Manipulating the U.S.
(Majid Rafizadeh) - There is a crucial Machiavellian (but not a strategic) tactical shift in the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy and its pursuit of regional preeminence... First of all, Iranian leaders have realized that by superficially showing the nObama administration that the Islamic Republic is willing to restore diplomatic ties with his administration, they can in fact further advance their ideological and national interests. Second, knowing that President nObama is desperate for a “historic” nuclear deal and the establishment of diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic, Iranian leaders have played the role very well by attempting to satisfy President nObama’s empty goals. The tactical shift, currently, is to satisfy President nObama’s personal and shallow objectives by allowing him to project that he is making historic moves (such speaking on the phone with the Iranian leaders), while simultaneously pursuing their own ideological objectives.       http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/majid-rafizadeh/how-the-islamic-republic-is-manipulating-the-u-s/?utm_source=FrontPage+Magazine&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=11ddb503d2-Mailchimp_FrontPageMag&utm_term=0_57e32c1dad-11ddb503d2-156509103

Terrorists Value U.S. Citizenship More Than Our Politicians Do
(Michael Cutler) - Rampant, blind greed warps the perspectives of those who suffer from that ailment. Consider politicians who have declared that aliens who trespass on the United States and evade the inspections process conducted at ports of entry are “entitled” to United States citizenship or, at the very least, lawful status... The outrageous view ignores both commonsense and the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission and the 9/11 Commission Staff. Our borders and our immigration laws are America’s first line of defense and last line of defense against international terrorists and transnational criminals, but you would never know this by reading most newspapers or watching most “news programs” in the mainstream media. You also would not learn the true importance of our borders and our immigration laws if you listened to Mr. nObama, leaders of his administration ranging from Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security or Loretta Lynch, the newly confirmed Attorney General.    http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/michael-cutler/terrorists-value-u-s-citizenship-more-than-our-politicians-do/?utm_source=FrontPage+Magazine&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=11ddb503d2-Mailchimp_FrontPageMag&utm_term=0_57e32c1dad-11ddb503d2-156509103

Iraqi security forces defend their headquarters against attacks by Islamic State extremists in the eastern part of Ramadi in Anbar province, May 14, 2015. Islamic State militants raised their black flag over the provincial government compound in the city of Ramadi in western Iraq on Friday, a Reuters witness said. The insurgents attacked Ramadi overnight using six suicide car bombs to reach the city centre, where the Anbar governorate compound is located, police sources said. Picture taken May 14, 2015.  The fall of Ramadi was avoidable
(Frederick W. Kagan, Kimberly Kagan) - The seizure of Ramadi on Sunday leaves President nObama’s strategy against the Islamic State in ruins not only in Iraq but also throughout the Muslim world. It means that the Iraqi security forces will almost certainly not be able to recapture Mosul this year and, therefore, that the Islamic State will retain its largest city in Iraq... This defeat was avoidable. Neither the Islamic State nor any other al-Qaeda offshoot has ever taken a major urban area actively defended by the United States in partnership with local forces. This is what happens when a policy of half-measures, restrictions and posturing meets a skillful and determined enemy on the battlefield. If the president does not change course soon, he will find that his legacy is not peace with Iran and ending wars, but rather the establishment of a terrorist state with the resources to conduct devastating attacks against the United States and a region-engulfing sectarian war. nObama reacted slowly and reluctantly to the initial Islamic State surge last June from Syria into Mosul and then down the Tigris toward Baghdad. He authorized U.S. air support to assist the defense of the Kurdish capital of Irbil in August and eventually deployed first a few hundred and then a few thousand U.S. advisers. He did not allow those advisers to fight alongside the Iraqi units they were assisting. U.S. airstrikes have destroyed many fixed Islamic State targets and killed its fighters by the thousands since then, mainly in Iraq, but have allowed the group to retain a haven in Syria and even to maneuver freely within Iraq.        http://www.aei.org/publication/the-fall-of-ramadi-was-avoidable/?utm_source=paramount&utm_medium=email&utm_content=AEITODAY&utm_campaign=051915

House Takes Action Against EPA And Army Corps Of Engineers...
(rickwells.us) - The land and water grab being conducted by the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers hit a snag on Tuesday as the U.S. House of Representatives voted to invalidate their redefinition of the waters that they have jurisdiction over... It’s a victory for property rights and the sanctity of the United States Constitution over insatiable, unaccountable and reckless bureaucrats. St. Louis Public Radio reported: The House of Representatives approved legislation Tuesday evening requiring the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers to scrap a proposed rule defining “Waters of the United States.”  At issue is what bodies of water are subject to the federal Clean Water Act.       http://rickwells.us/house-takes-action-against-epa-and-army-corps-of-engineers-national-land-and-water-grab/

Sen Sessions Warns TPP Threatens American Sovereignty...
(rickwells.us) - Senator Jeff Sessions attempted to offer two amendments to the TPP nullification of the U.S. Constitution trade agreement and was immediately struck down by an objection from the bug-eating Democrat Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), which prevented debate... Where was Mitch McConnell with his supposed promise that amendments would be debated and why was this Democrat, whose party is supposedly united against this monstrosity, voting against the Sessions amendment in its support? Our legislative process has been reduced to a charade with few legitimate representatives, such as Senator Sessions, remaining. McConnell and Cantwell both work for the same people and it isn’t the citizens of the United States. Senator Sessions goes on to elaborate as to why this is so devastating to the future of our nation but is anyone listening? Certainly those who depend upon the mainstream media for their information won’t be hearing the Senator’s message. The majority, those who get their news from sources such as ESPN or TMZ will probably miss out as well.       http://rickwells.us/sen-sessions-warns-tpp-threatens-american-sovereignty-un-eu-style-commission-could-rule-u-s/

Benghazi Committee to State Dept.:
Turn Over Documents

.
(sharylattkisson.com) - The House Benghazi Committee is making a personal plea directed at Secretary of State John Kerry amid the State Department’s failure to fulfill longstanding congressional requests for information.
.
In a letter sent this week, Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., asked Kerry for his personal assistance in providing documents described in a November 18, 2014 letter and a March 4, 2015 subpoena to the State Department. The requests cover documents and communications related to ten former senior Sate Department officials.

.
It’s another example of a trend in which federal agencies fail to comply with congressional requests on a timely basis–or at all. Congress not only has the right but also has an obligation to conduct oversight of federal agencies conducting business and spending tax dollars on the public’s behalf. The same federal agencies often refuse to lawfully comply with federal Freedom of Information Act law. Instead, they routinely withhold public records from members of the public and the press.
.
Gowdy says the committee cannot fulfill its mandate to provide the first complete investigation of Benghazi until the record is complete. Once all of the relevant documents are turned over, the committee says it will schedule former Secretary of State Hilly Clinton for an interview within 30 days.

Four Americans including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens were killed in terrorist attacks on U.S. compounds in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 11, 2012. Numerous previous investigations have probed segments of the Benghazi case, but there were serious gaps. For example, the Accountability Review Board did not interview Clinton and other key officials, nor did it examine the roles of the White House, intelligence agencies or the Defense Department in any detail. The House Benghazi Committee will be the first to review all evidence.
.
The process of obtaining outstanding documents was complicated by news that Clinton used a private server to conduct the public’s business as Secretary of State and has since destroyed many emails. She says the destroyed emails were personal in nature and that all government-related emails have now been turned over to the State Department for review. Some of them have, in turn, been provided to the Benghazi Committee. However, the committee is waiting thousands more pages of documents and materials.
.
“To date, the State Department has not produced one single piece of paper responsive to the Committee’s request for records from the former Secretary’s leadership team,” said Gowdy in a statement.
.
hanoi Kerry had promised in testimony before the House that the State Department would promptly produce requested documents. “Now it is time for his Department to explain why they have failed to keep his word,” says Gowdy.
.
The top Democrat on the Benghazi Committee, Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, called the request for documents a Republican “fishing expedition.” He also stated that some responsive documents have been turned over to the committee.
.

.
“This new claim that the Department has not produced a single responsive document is completely baseless and appears to be yet another excuse to drag out Secretary Clinton’s testimony until closer to the election,” said Cummings. .
.
According to Cummings, Republicans refuse to provide search terms to allow the State Department to expedite document production.
.
“State Department officials must review each email sent and received during a two year period to determine if it is responsive to the Committee’s request,” said Cummings in a statement. “This task must be undertaken for each of the 10 staff members listed in the subpoena, which means that the Department must manually sift through approximately 20 years’ worth of emails. The State Department has requested the Committee provide search terms to expedite this process.”
.
Critics say that demanding “narrowed search terms” is a common tactic federal agencies use to delay and narrow searches. But Cummings says it is simply a way to make the search more reasonable.
