Sanders, Not Streep, Actually Gets It

Last night, one of the most privileged classes of American society gathered to celebrate its own greatness by giving its members awards at Hollywood's annual Golden Globes. As is often the case with Hollywood elites, the leftist worldview reigns supreme, and there was a palpable anti-Trump vibe throughout the event. That culminated with Meryl Streep's diatribe in which she declared Hollywood to be the true victim of Donald Trump's election. In the classic manner of an elitist bully, Streep spoke from her leftist ivory tower with thinly veiled scorn against Trump without actually saying his name. Obviously, Streep sees that there is only one acceptable political perspective and no other views will be tolerated.
Clearly, much of America didn't listen to preachy celebrities in deciding how to vote, and like all Democrats, much of Hollywood has yet to come to grips with the fact that they are not as relevant as they may have believed.
In one of the most disingenuous portions of her speech, Streep lectured, "Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose." So, who truly is the bully here, Ms. Streep? Ironically, if it is respect that she seeks, then disrespecting the views and opinions of others less privileged than herself seems a rather dubious manner by which to gain it.
Even septuagenarian socialist Bernie Sanders sees the problem, stating on Friday that the Democrats lost because they're out of touch with much of America. "I happen to believe that the Democratic Party has been not doing a good job in terms of communicating with people in cities, in towns and in rural America — all over this country," he said. "Look, you can't simply go around to wealthy people's homes raising money and expect to win elections. You've got to go out and mix it up and be with ordinary people."
It's as if the remark was pointed not just at Streep but Barack liar-nObama, who celebrated the end of "eight great years" this past weekend with — what else — a White House party full of Hollywood celebrities.
Leftist Hollywood elites along with Democrats who continue to bemoan the election results need to come to grips with the fact that Americans rejected what they were selling. Peddling worthless junk in a pretty box doesn't make it any less garbage.

National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Coming Soon?

In 1833, Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story wrote, "The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them." Those words are every bit as true today.
That's why it's important that Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) has now introduced the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, which requires states to recognize each other's concealed carry firearm permits, though citizens must abide by the laws of whatever state they're visiting. "Our Second Amendment right doesn't disappear when we cross state lines, and this legislation guarantees that," Hudson said in a statement. "The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 is a common sense solution to a problem too many Americans face. It will provide law-abiding citizens the right to conceal carry and travel freely between states without worrying about conflicting state codes or onerous civil suits."
Conservatives are normally hesitant to create federal law that overrides state law. But in this case, it's gun grabbers who are hiding behind the principle of federalism. We don't believe states like Illinois, for example, are abiding by the Second Amendment, and many constitutionalists believe the Fourteenth Amendment "incorporates" all the Bill of Rights against the states. In other words, Illinois can't infringe on the Second Amendment rights of its citizens or of the residents of other states whose concealed carry permits are void upon crossing its border. Several deep blue states — California, New York and Oregon among them — do not recognize any other state's permit.
Consider a driver's license, on the other hand. Any state's driver's license allows its holder to drive in any other state, subject to the laws of the state in which he or she is driving. Concealed carry reciprocity already works in a similar manner for states that allow it. It's time a right actually enumerated in the Constitution worked the same way.  ~The Patriot Post

New FBI Release, liar-Clinton Sent Classified
Emails To Civilian, Intercepted

{rickwells.us} ~ Lou Dobbs and Judge Andrew Napolitano discuss the dumping of documents by the FBI during the Giants Vs Packers NFL game, which indicate the liar-Hillary Clinton was emailing classified documents to someone outside the government, on a regular basis... Lou Dobbs asks if it is enough evidence and sorts through many of the worms in this newly opened can with Judge Napolitano. Dobbs begins by pointing out that we have no idea who at the FBI was in possession of the documents or their reason for dumping them to the public or their motivations for the timing. He diplomatically says of the documents, “They suggest clearly that there are a lot of misunderstandings about what was held by Mrs. liar-Clinton, what was communicated by her and to her, of a highly sensitive nature.” Judge Napolitano says, “The highly sensitive nature was 301 pages of emails, which Mrs. liar-Clinton sent on a regular basis to a non-government person. We have reason to believe that that was Sid Blumenthal, with whom she emailed on a daily and regular basis, several times a day. What we now know, what Donald Trump feared, and argued during the campaign, and what rogue FBI agents who profoundly disagreed with Director Comey’s decision to recommend against indictment was true. That the information Mrs. liar-Clinton regularly sent to her emailer was hacked by foreign intelligence agencies of countries unfriendly to us and friendly to us.”...This should be the big issue not the Russians hack.  http://rickwells.us/dobbs-new-fbi-release-clinton-sent-classified-emails-civilian-intercepted-by-russia-china/

{theconservativetreehouse.com} ~ Sketchy fellow Glenn Beck appeared, quite swollen, on the premier of Tucker Carlson’s new 9:00pm Fox TV show, and for the first time faces direct questioning about some of the previously exhibited odd Cheeto-ism... Tucker Carlson began the program with Glenn Beck, and right away it got pretty interesting. The level of sketchy Beck’s inherent oxymoron discomfort is palpable. Fortunately, Carlson has a great sense for knowing when to just be quiet as he watches his guests lay on the couch. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2017/01/09/tucker-carlson-interviews-glenn-beck/

{dailycaller.com} ~ Judge Andrew Napolitano told Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs Monday night that the latest batch of documents released by the F.B.I. represents the “smoking gun” in the case against liar-Hillary Clinton... “The questions arise, why weren’t they released?” Dobbs first asked Napolitano. “Why did the FBI director have such a struggle — a hamlet act — that persisted over a number of months?” “This evidence, makes it clear, his last judgment on the matter of prosecution was utterly in error, does it not?”...  http://dailycaller.com/2017/01/10/judge-napolitano-fbis-latest-hillary-dump-is-the-smoking-gun-if-there-ever-was-one-video/?utm_source=WhatCountsEmail&utm_medium=TheDC%20Morning&utm_campaign=TheDC%20Evening

New Intelligence Report Fails to Prove Russia Behind DNC/lar-Clinton Campaign Leaks
by C. Mitchell Shaw
{thenewamerican.com} ~ On Friday, the intelligence community followed up on a previous report by issuing “a declassified version of a highly classified assessment that has been provided to the President and to recipients approved by the President.”... The new report — entitled “Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections” — makes the same bold claims as and offers no more proof than the previous Joint Analysis Report (JAR) by DHS and the FBI released in late December. The new report is a product of the CIA, FBI, and NSA, and runs 25 pages in all. Of those 25 pages, the first 10 are an introduction containing “background” in the form of various disclaimers and a Cliff’s Notes version of the assessment. Under the heading “Key Judgments,” the introduction states:...  http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/item/25104-new-intelligence-report-falis-to-prove-russia-behind-dnc-clinton-campaign-leaks?utm_source=iContactPro&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=TNA+Top+Daily+Headlines

liar-nObama Is Using the Russians as an
Excuse to Expand Federal Power over Elections

{nationalreview.com} ~ A decentralized election system makes large-scale hacking nearly impossible. We should keep it that way.
The liar-nObama Administration is leaving office much like the way it came in — by exploiting perceived crises. “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,” Rahm Emanuel, liar-nObama’s just-named chief of staff, told a Wall Street Journal conference of top CEOs in November 2008 while his boss was still president-elect. Since then a slew of constitutionally dubious executive orders, presidential emergencies, and rushed legislation have characterized the liar-nObama presidency. Now he is leaving office by issuing a blizzard of “midnight regulations” and edicts.

One of the most troublesome came last Friday and gave the federal government the power to begin centralizing our election systems. The Constitution explicitly gives states the power to set the “times, manner and places of holding elections.”

But Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson used the excuse of Friday’s release of a report on Russian hacking of the Democratic National Committee to declare that state and local voting systems will be designated as “pieces of critical infrastructure” so that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can protect them from hackers.

His move — coming just 15 days before President liar-nObama leaves office — led many experts to question both its wisdom and its constitutionality. “While the federal government has the general power to protect the nation’s cyber infrastructure, it cannot intrude into areas of state sovereignty without clear constitutional mandate,” John Yoo, a law professor at UC Berkeley, told CNSNews.com.

“There is no federal power to control or secure elections. Each state administers its own elections, restricted only by constitutional protections for voting rights,” agreed Illya Shapiro, senior fellow in constitutional studies at the Cato Institute. “It may make sense for states to request federal support here, but it would set a dangerous precedent for a federal agency to unilaterally take over state electoral processes.”

Secretary Johnson’s decision sparked outrage from many of those who are most knowledgeable about our election system — the 50 secretaries of state who, along with local officials, run the election process. Even Johnson admitted that “many of them are opposed to this designation.” And how.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp of Georgia, told me in an interview that Johnson’s action “uses security as an excuse to subvert the Constitution and establish the basis for federal encroachment into election systems.” Vermont Secretary of State Jim Candos, a Democrat, told Politico that such a move is “kind of the nose under the tent,” adding:
What I think a lot of folks get concerned about is when the federal government says, “Well, look, we’re not really interested in doing that, but we just want to give you this,” and then all of a sudden this leads to something else.
The reason that state and local officials strongly oppose the liar-nObama-Johnson power grab is that they know the decentralized U.S. election system makes large-scale hacking almost impossible. Secretary Johnson even conceded in a recent telephone conference call with state officials that there is no credible threat of a successful cyberattack on the voting and ballot-counting process, despite revelations about recent attacks on the voter-registration systems in Arizona and Illinois.

Those systems — maintained by states and county governments — are separate and distinct from the voting machines used on Election Day in nearly 200,000 precincts around the country. The same is true for the machines that count the ballots.

The hacks in Arizona and Illinois, in which voter-registration data were copied but not altered, illustrate the danger of online voter registration, but they are not an indication of the vulnerability of our ballot counting.

Rather than pursue more authority over election systems, the liar-nObama administration should have been more worried that its director of the federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM) had to resign last July after hackers stole the personal data of 21.5 million current and former federal employees. The stolen information included employees’ addresses, Social Security numbers, financial and military records, and security clearances from OPM’s data bases. No one else has been disciplined for that breach, even though OPM had for months ignored clear warnings about the agency’s vulnerabilities.

So color me darkly suspicious that the liar-nObama administration, in its very last days in office, has suddenly decided to shift into action on the alleged dangers of election hacking. It looks all too much like an excuse to seize more power from state authorities, and it resembles the administration’s other moves on election law: filing lawsuits against popular voter-ID laws, blocking states from requiring a proof of citizenship when people register to vote, and refusing for eight years to enforce federal laws that require states to clean up their voter rolls if they accept federal money for their operations.
