FBI Had a Way to Circumvent Farook's  Passcode  Amidst the FBI's demands that Apple create software to break the security the tech company engineered into the iPhone, the under reported fact is that the government bungled its initial attempts to access the cell phone the San Bernardino County Health Department gave to eventual terrorist Syed Farook. The first mistake was the county didn't set up the phone so that it had administrative access over the device. If it had taken that preemptive step, investigators could have easily gathered everything the phone could provide.
The second mistake was hours after the shooting when San Bernardino, working with the FBI, reset the phone's iCloud password, allowing investigators to see the data the phone was automatically backing up to a remote location on Apple's servers. Problem was, the last time the phone updated to iCloud was on Oct. 19 — weeks before the Dec. 2 shooting. There was information still on the phone. Investigators [could have teased that information from the phone by turning on the phone's automatic updates, going to a location frequented by Farook and the device would have automatically sent information to iCloud. Voilà! With the recent information in the cloud, then investigators could have reset Farook's iCloud password. Instead, the government is trying to force Apple to destroy the security protocols it has built into its current devices because a series of government mistakes.
"Do we have freedom of speech, or freedom to speak only what law-enforcement can monitor?" wrote National Review's Andrew McCarthy. "Does the Fourth Amendment guarantee freedom from unreasonable searches, or afford only whatever expectation of privacy the government, not the society, decides is reasonable — and cabined by what the government is technologically capable of searching?" What the FBI misses is that our rights are given by the Creator, not an incompetent mid-level bureaucrat.  -The Patriot Post

Who Loses VA Musical Chairs? Vets Do
Instead of firing misbehaving administrators, the Department of Veterans Affairs simply shuffled the bureaucrats off to another VA hospital in another state. After crunching the data, the Daily Caller found that almost 100 VA administrators worked in at least three states over the last eight years — often at the cost of pay bumps and hefty relocation fees. When it comes to doctors or pharmacists, some of whom ran afoul with disciplinary or licensing issues, the VA simply played bureaucratic musical chairs, shuffling about 600 VA employees across the country. "Whatever the reasons," wrote Luke Rosiak, investigative journalist for The Caller, "Secretary Bob McDonald, who promised a transformation of the VA when he took over in 2014, is trying to fix past mistakes by moving around the same people who oversaw them, not bringing in new leaders." Recently, the Deputy Secretary for the VA Sloan Gibson said he stood by his decision to fire a VA medical center director in Albany, despite the decision being reversed by the department's Merit Systems Protection Board. The bureaucracy in the state-run health care system is entrenched, protecting its own at the expense of those it is supposed to serve — veterans.   -The Patriot Post

 OPINION IN BRIEF
Stephen Moore: "When I was a smart-aleck college student, I had a sign on my dorm-room door that read: 'Reality is for those who can't handle drugs.' Maybe the 2016 version should go like this: 'Bernie Sanders and socialism are for those who can't handle reality.' Socialism's comeback is mystifying to most clear-thinking people. Do people who support Sanders and socialism walk around with shutters over their eyes so they don't have to observe the reality of what is happening in the world around them? The remarkable thing about the rise of Bernie Sanders is that his popularity runs in the counter-direction to how socialism is actually working. ... Economic freedom is, of course, the opposite of socialism. Nations that are economically free have freer trade, smaller welfare states, lower taxes, a lighter hand with regulation, private ownership of the means of production and the rule of law. Countries that are economically free have five times the per capita average annual income ($55,000) of countries that are the least free ($9,000). Not only that, economic freedom is also highly correlated with better education, improved health and a cleaner environment. The poor do better in nations that are economically free and worse in Bernie Sanders land. In short, countries that are economically free are healthy, wealthy and wise. This reality seems to be lost on those high on the drug of socialism."   -The Patriot Post

IDF Racing to Restructure Itself for
New Middle East Warfare
Yaakov Lappin
.
.
{investigativeproject.org} ~ The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is in a race against time, and it is a race that is relevant to how other Western powers will also deal with the rise of radical, armed, Islamic groups proliferating across the Middle East... As the IDF's commanders look around the region, they see heavily armed, hybrid, Islamic sub-state foes that are replacing states. The traditional threat of hierarchical armies is fading quickly away, into obscurity. The Sunni and Shi'ite jihadist entities on Israel's borders – Hamas, Hizballah, ISIS-affiliated groups in Syria, Jabhat Al-Nusra, as well as elements of Iran's IRGC forces – are all building their power and preparing for a future unknown point in time when they will clash with Israel. The IDF is preparing, too, but it is not only counting how many soldiers, tanks, fighter planes, and artillery cannons it can call up in the next round. The IDF is in a race to adapt to 21st century Middle Eastern warfare, which bears no resemblance to how wars were fought in the 20th century. http://www.investigativeproject.org/5169/idf-racing-to-restructure-...

nObama and Juan Williams Need a Lesson on the Constitution and the Facts
on Judicial Nominations
Hans von Spakovsky and Elizabeth Slattery
.
.
{theacru.org} ~ Someone should remind President nObama and Juan Williams what the Constitution actually says about confirming nominees. They seem unaware of how the process works... They also appear ignorant of the facts regarding the many judicial nominees the president has had confirmed over the past seven years. First of all, the claim by Juan Williams that race “has something to do” with Republicans’ supposedly not moving on President nObama’s appointments is completely false —- and the numbers prove it. The U.S. Senate has confirmed 321 individuals nominated to the federal bench during nObama’s presidency: 264 district court judges, 55 appeals-court judges, and two Supreme Court justices. That represents more than one third of the entire federal judiciary. At the same point in the term of President George W. Bush, only 296 federal judges had been confirmed. That included two Supreme Court justices, the same number as nObama has placed on the Court. When nObama took office, ten of the 13 federal circuit courts of appeals had a majority of judges appointed by Republican presidents; today, nine are majority Democratic.        http://www.theacru.org/obama-and-juan-williams-need-a-lesson-on-the...

The nObama Administration Wants to
Make Sure Non-Citizens Vote
in the Upcoming Election
Hans von Spakovsky
.
.
{theacru.org} ~ Several well-funded organizations —- including the League of Women Voters and the NAACP —- are fighting efforts to prevent non-citizens from voting illegally in the upcoming presidential election... And the United States Department of Justice, under the direction of Attorney General Loretta Lynch, is helping them. On February 12, these groups filed a lawsuit in D.C. federal court seeking to reverse a recent decision by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC). The Commission’s decision allows Kansas and other states, including Arizona and Georgia, to enforce state laws ensuring that only citizens register to vote when they use a federally designed registration form. An initial hearing in the case is set for Monday afternoon, February 22. Under federal law, the EAC is responsible for designing the federal voter-registration form required by the National Voter Registration Act, or Motor Voter, as it is commonly called. While states must register voters who use the federal form, states can ask the EAC to include instructions with the federal form about additional state registration requirements. Some states are now requiring satisfactory proof of citizenship to ensure that only citizens register to vote. Under Article I, Secion 2 and the Seventeenth Amendment to the Constitution, states have the power to set the “Qualification requisite for electors.” As with many issues, the Left disdains the balance the Framers adopted in the Constitution and objects to this delegation of power to the states. They prefer to see power over elector eligibility centralized in Washington, D.C.       http://www.theacru.org/the-obama-administration-wants-to-make-sure-...

Republicans on nObama's Gitmo Plan:
'It Is Against the Law'
Sandy Fitzgerald
.
.
{newsmax.com} ~ Republicans Tuesday struck out at President Barack nObama's long-promised plan to close the United States' detention center at Guantanamo Bay... with several insisting that his plan to transfer detainees to American soil is against the law. "After seven years, President nObama has yet to convince the American people that moving Guantanamo terrorists to our homeland is smart or safe," House Speaker Paul Ryan said shortly after nObama's announcement, and he doesn't seem interested in continuing to try." Further, said Ryan, nObama's extensive proposal "fails to provide critical details required by law, including the exact cost and location of an alternate detention facility. Congress has left no room for confusion. It is against the law — and it will stay against the law — to transfer terrorist detainees to American soil. We will not jeopardize our national security over a campaign promise." http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/republicans-obama-gitmo-plan/2016/...

Stop China Buyout of Chicago Stock Exchange: Congressmen to nObama
 William F. Jasper
.
.
{thenewamerican.com} ~ When the board of directors of the Chicago Stock Exchange announced on February 5 that it had “entered into a definitive agreement” to be purchased by a Chinese company, the statement received rather ho-hum treatment by the American mainstream media... most pointing out that the Chicago Stock Exchange is a bit player in the grand scheme of things, as compared to the volume of stock sales at the NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange. Bloomberg News, for instance, reported that the 134-year-old Chicago Stock Exchange “only handles about 0.5 percent of U.S. stock trading.” On a recent trading day, the Bloomberg  story noted, the NYSE “handled 31 times more trading volume” than its little brother bourse in Chicago, which “is a far less vital part of global finance.” However, not everyone is so nonchalant regarding the pending sale. “It is outrageous that a communist Chinese company — a front for the communist Chinese government — will be given access to trillions of dollars in the struggling US economy and secure information about US businesses,” says Congressman Walter Jones, a North Carolina Republican. “I strongly urge the nObama administration to investigate this firm and stop this purchase,” Rep. Jones said in a press statement released last week. Acquisition of the Chicago Stock Exchange by the Chongqing Casin Enterprise Group (CCEG) of China means, says Jones, that “a firm with ties to the communist Chinese government will have access to trillions of dollars in the US economy.  This access raises financial, economic, and cyber-security concerns.”        http://www.thenewamerican.com/economy/item/22609-stop-china-buyout-...

Russia Wants to Fly Over the U.S. Using
Its Latest Spy Technology
 Bob Adelmann
.
.
{thenewamerican.com} ~ According to the Associated Press, Russia is about to ask permission of the Open Skies Consultative Commission (OSCC) in Vienna, Austria, to fly its latest reconnaissance aircraft, the Tu-214ON (shown), over the United States... The airplane will have the latest in spy technology, including video, optical panoramic and framing cameras for daylight photography; infrared line scanners, giving it day/night capabilities; synthetic aperture radar, providing it day/night/all-weather capabilities, along with its “digital electro-optical sensor." Image quality, thanks to the latest digital technologies, will allow Russian analysts the ability to distinguish between a military tank and an 18-wheeler from miles above U.S. territory. It’s making U.S. military officials nervous. Admiral Cecil Haney, commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, wrote: “The Treaty on Open Skies has become a critical component of Russia’s intelligence collection capability directed at the United States," adding: In addition to overflying military installations, Russian Open Skies flights can overfly and collect on Department of Defense and national security … critical infrastructure. The vulnerability exposed by exploitation of this data and the costs of mitigation of such exploitation are increasingly difficult to characterize.   http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/history/item/22599-russia-wan...

{independentsentinel.com} ~ In New York City, the City Council is planning to allow public spitting and urinating on the city streets but if you dare to display foods more than four feet from your storefront, they will take your goods and destroy them... The pointless law is being ruthlessly enforced. What can you expect from a commie mayor and his commie sidekicks. Provided by Gary Schlesinger, CEO of ParCare Health & Medical Center, the raw footage shows New York City sanitation workers taking boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables and throwing them into a waiting garbage truck. Big Brother is alive and well in the Orwellian city of New York where the people once were free until they decided to vote their rights away and elect a communist to the highest office in the city. Thats why its so important in voting for the right person to be our leaders.         http://www.independentsentinel.com/watch-idiocy-in-action-on-behalf...

PACOM Needs More Subs, Long-Range Missiles
To Counter Chinese Threats

.
{news.usni.org} ~ China’s recent actions to militarize the South China Sea have changed the operational landscape, and the U.S. Pacific Command needs more attack submarines and long-range surface missiles to keep up with the evolving threat... PACOM commander Adm. Harry Harris told the Senate Armed Services Committee today. China’s 10,000-foot runway in the Spratly Islands, as well as the addition of surface-to-air missiles and high-frequency radar systems on the islands over the past week, are pushing regional partners closer to the U.S. military but also forcing PACOM to look at addressing the region differently. “I think China’s… surface-to-air missiles, on Woody Island; its radars, new radars on Cuarteron Reef over here; the runway, the 10,000-foot runway… on Fiery Cross Reef and other places; these are actions that are changing, in my opinion, the operational landscape in the South China Sea,” Harris told the senators. “The DF-21 ballistic missile, which they have, and the DF-26, which they are developing, could pose a threat to our carriers. I think, though, our carriers are resilient and we have the capability to do what has to be done”       http://news.usni.org/2016/02/23/harris-pacom-needs-more-subs-long-r...

A Vote for Donald slump-Trump,
Is a Vote for This….

Is he for real? Will he survive his challenge to the autonomy and power of the globalists?
.
{thecommonsenseshow.com} ~ I am sorry, but I have to step off of the Fool’s Gold Express. slump-Trump cannot save this country, only God can... But please tell me, what has America done to deserve redemption in the eyes of God? Assuming we have an election in November, I am checking the box next to slump-Trumps name. However, I hold no illusion that my vote and our collective vote is going to change a thing. I am merely casting a symbolic vote. There is no question that Donald slump-Trump is saying some of the magic words that have been missing from the American lexicon for quite some time, like, “Let’s Make America Great Again”. In reality, if you think any candidate is going to accomplish this magic feat, you may as well save your campaign contributions and vote for Santa Claus.       http://www.thecommonsenseshow.com/2016/02/23/a-vote-for-donald-trum...

How to tell which candidates understood
the financial crisis
 Peter J. Wallison
.
.
{aei.org} ~ Echoes of the 2008 financial crisis continue to reverberate through election year politics, regulatory policy discussions, and even Hollywood films like The Big Short... Below are five questions about the crisis that are currently receiving attention, and that presidential candidates should be equipped to answer, together with my own answers. The simplest way to think about the financial crisis is that the largest investment banks and commercial banks got into financial trouble by acquiring and holding risky mortgages or mortgage backed securities based on these risky loans. This was permitted for both of them before Glass-Steagall was “repealed,” and it was permitted afterward. In other words, if Glass-Steagall had never been touched by Congress in any way, the financial crisis would have unfolded exactly as it did in 2008. Calls to reinstate Glass-Steagall are disingenuous; many of those in Congress and elsewhere who back this idea know that it is a meaningless proposal, but also that their case for tighter regulation of the financial system is helped if they can claim some connection between reduced regulation and the financial crisis.        https://www.aei.org/publication/5-questions-every-presidential-cand...

The Lure of Socialism
 Thomas Sowell
.
.
{townhall.com} ~ Many people of mature years are amazed at how many young people have voted for Senator Bernie Sanders, and are enthusiastic about the socialism he preaches.
.
Many of those older people have lived long enough to have seen socialism fail, time and again, in countries around the world. Venezuela, with all its rich oil resources, is currently on the verge of economic collapse, after its heady fling with socialism.
.
But, most of the young have missed all that, and their dumbed-down education is far more likely to present the inspiring rhetoric of socialism than to present its dismal track record.
.
Socialism is in fact a wonderful vision -- a world of the imagination far better than any place anywhere in the real world, at any time over the thousands of years of recorded history. Even many conservatives would probably prefer to live in such a world, if they thought it was possible.
.
Who would not want to live in a world where college was free, along with many other things, and where government protected us from the shocks of life and guaranteed our happiness? It would be Disneyland for adults!
.
Free college of course has an appeal to the young, especially those who have never studied economics. But college cannot possibly be free. It would not be free even if there was no such thing as money.
.
Consider the costs of just one professor teaching just one course. He or she has probably spent more than 20 years being educated, from kindergarten to the Ph.D., before ending up standing in front of a class and trying to convey some of the knowledge picked up in all those years. That means being fed, clothed and housed all those years, along with other expenses.
.
All the people who grew the food, manufactured the clothing and built the housing used by this one professor, for at least two decades, had to be compensated for their efforts, or those efforts would not continue. And of course someone has to produce food, clothing and shelter for all the students in this one course, as well as books, computers and other requirements or amenities.
.
Add up all these costs -- and multiply by a hundred or so -- and you have a rough idea of what going to college costs. Whether these costs are paid by using money in a capitalist economy or by some other mechanism in a feudal economy, a socialist economy, or whatever, there are heavy costs to pay.
.
Moreover, under any economic system, those costs are either going to be paid or there are not going to be any colleges. Money is just an artificial device for getting real things done.
.
Those young people who understand this, whether clearly or vaguely, are not likely to be deterred from wanting socialism. Because what they really want is for somebody else to pay for their decision to go to college.
.
A market economy is one in which whoever makes a decision is the one who pays for that decision. It forces people to be sure that what they want to do is really worth what it is going to cost.
.
Even the existing subsidies of college have led many people to go to college who have very little interest in, or benefit from, going to college, except for enjoying the social scene while postponing adult responsibilities for a few years.
.
Whether judging by test results, by number of hours per week devoted to studying or by on-campus interviews, it is clear that today's college students learn a lot less than college students once did. If college becomes "free," even more people can attend college without bothering to become educated and without acquiring any economically meaningful skills.
.
More fundamentally, making all sorts of other things "free" means more of those things being wasted as well. Even worse, it means putting more and more of the decisions that shape our lives into the hands of politicians and bureaucrats who control the purse strings.
.
nObamacare has given us a foretaste of what that means in reality, despite how wonderful it may sound in political rhetoric.
.
Worst of all, government giveaways polarize society into segments, each trying to get what it wants at somebody else's expense, creating mutual bitterness that can tear a society apart. Some seem to blithely assume that "the rich" can be taxed to pay for what they want -- as if "the rich" don't see what is coming and take their wealth elsewhere.

Democrat Disaster! 53% Of Black Voters, 60% Of Other Minorities Say Liberal Media Trying To Help Democrats Impeach Trump

Thanks to President Donald Trump ALL Americans now know the mainstream fake-news media is an extension of the Democrat Party.

In a recent poll a majority of black voters and minority voters say the media is trying to help Democrats impeach President Trump.

And half of FOX News too, by the way.

CNS News reported:

Both black voters and other minority voters are more convinced than white voters that most reporters are trying to help impeach President Donald Trump, rather than report the news fairly – with a majority of each of the three groups holding that view – a new Rasmussen Reports survey reveals.

In the national voter survey, conducted November 12-13, 53% of all voters said most reporters are trying to help impeach Trump:

“When they write or talk about the impeachment effort, are most reporters trying to help impeach President Trump or block his impeachment? Or are most reporters simply interested in reporting the news in an unbiased manner?”:

“Help impeach President Trump”: 53%
“Block his impeachment”: 8%
Report “news in an unbiased an unbiased manner”: 32%

But, 53% of black voters and 60% of other minorities, compared to 51% of whites, said reporters are trying to get Trump rather than report the news fairly.
