Taxing The Constitution: Life, Liberty, Arithmetic!

Congratulations to the French high court for ruling France’s new “millionaire” tax is unconstitutional. As we all know, Obama and Co. would love nothing more than to excessively tax our wealthy who already account for 70% of all duties collected: not to mention the countless jobs their success generates. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: regardless of what laws Congress may pass, what gives them the “constitutional” authority to tax one citizen more than another, one business more than the other? It is nothing more than discrimination, a violation of equal rights and equal protection under the law. Honestly, do these people toil or risk less? If they went broke tomorrow, or 5 years down the road, would they get that life sustaining money back from those who supported such excessive taxation? Absolutely not.

This is why the 16th Amendment, in part, is unconstitutional; it provides no constraints, limitations, on the methodology of exacting tax rates. If we are all created equal, shouldn’t our laws reflect that founding principle? I myself have never been wealthy; however, if I were to come into money, I’d like to think I was entitled to keep my property. That’s what America was predicated upon; honoring hard work, freedom, not envy. (And for the record, many of these “evil capitalists” donate millions to charitable causes.) If Obama wants to reduce the deficit and help restore the American dream, he might start by cutting the trillions of dollars wasted on his reckless socialist programs. After all, why are tax payers already paying Congress to bankrupt America and destroy private industry in the process? Raising taxes on hard working Americans because one refuses to be held responsible is insulting and a dereliction of duty! Adding and subtracting is not a revolutionary concept, although expecting our elected officials to do just that is quickly becoming one.

Regardless of party affiliation, all elected representatives should be required, by law, to balance the budget or thus immediately become ineligible for re-election. Being it’s our money to begin with, this is hardly an unreasonable request. If everyday Americans ran their affairs like Washington, they would all be destitute and homeless within a month; only we can't shamelessly print more money or give ourselves a bailout at our neighbor’s expense. If the buck truly stops here – at the crossing of common sense and accountability - our government should have been foreclosed years ago.
