.Debt Dwarfs China as Top
National Security Threat

{ americanthinker.com } ~ This year's National Defense Strategy heralded the return of peer competitors and the re-emergence of long-term great power competition... The debate among national security experts that followed its publication mostly focused on whether China or Russia is the bigger long-term threat to the U.S. China is a rising power with national ambitions whose goal is to supplant U.S. atop the global hierarchy. Russia? It's a vodka-addled demographic basket case that runs a few troll farms, whose closest economic peers are Italy and Brazil. But, an increasingly dangerous China is at best the number two national security threat, dwarfed by the much clearer danger of America's spending addiction. If the U.S. is supplanted in the global order, it will have done to itself what no foreign power could ever hope to accomplish. While the national debt stands at well over $22 trillion, the better measure of the impact is in the interest that must be paid each year. The U.S. is running a trillion-plus-dollar deficit and is on pace to pay about $400B in interest on the national debt this year. In ten years, the interest on the national debt is projected to be around a cool trillion dollars, and that's assuming that the U.S. doesn't elect a socialist in the interim, which is becoming an increasingly bad bet. That's the equivalent of pulling a trillion dollar bill out of the national wallet each year and lighting it on fire. The $400B we pay now in interest is well over twice what China spends on its military. Once we get to a trillion dollars, the interest that we will have to pay on the national debt will dwarf U.S. military spending. China's debt situation is also abominable, as rising debt is a global problem. It is hard to get a real gauge on China's debt because of how much of it is built up through shadow banks and other questionable tactics. But the Chinese overall debt-to-GDP may be approaching a staggering 300%, depending on how you measure it, which is both good and bad. It's good in the sense that the Chinese are likely not as big of a global national security threat as they appear. It's bad in the sense that they also are in deep trouble and will not be able to serve as a stabilizing function when other nations' debt-laden economies start collapsing....
Will Take Over Jerusalem

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas threatened this week that "million of fighters" would swarm Jerusalem and topple the Jewish state's capital city... warning that "no matter how many houses and how many settlements they declare that they plan to build here and there—they shall all be destroyed." Abbas, in an Arabic language speech at Jalazone Refugee Camp near Ramallah that was heavy with threats of destruction, doubled down on the Palestinian government's policy of using public money to pay convicted terrorists and their families, telling his audience, "We will not accept their designation of our martyrs as terrorists. Our martyrs are the martyrs of the homeland." Abbas went on to rally those in attendance to swarm the city of Jerusalem and destroy all Jewish people living there. His remarks are the clearest sign to date that the leader has no interest in playing a role in a revamped peace process spearheaded by President Donald Trump's White House. "To Jerusalem we march, martyrs by the millions!" he was quoted as saying, according to a translation by the Middle East Media Research Institute, or MEMRI, a media watchdog site. "We shall enter Jerusalem—millions of fighters! We shall enter it! All of us, the entire Palestinian people, the entire Arab nation, the Islamic nation, and the Christian nation," Abbas said. "They shall all enter Jerusalem." Homes and cities built by Jews and other ethnic groups living in Israel "will all go to the garbage bin of history," Abbas said... The Palestinians need to get rid of Abbas.

Because Palestinians are protesting a crackdown on illegal foreign workers in Lebanon... thereby exposing Lebanese racism and a hatred of their Palestinian brothers. For the past three weeks, thousands of Palestinians in Lebanon have been demonstrating against the Lebanese authorities' crackdown on illegal workers, which is directed mainly against Palestinians and Syrians living there. "The Palestinians are not foreigners in Lebanon," said the Palestinian academic and political analyst, Abdel Sattar Qassem. "Palestinians in Lebanon are refugees and, as such, they should be treated in accordance with international regulations concerning refugees. The Palestinians have been a strong economic pillar of Lebanon. They initially contributed to the advancement of the primitive Lebanese economy; they plowed the land, planted and harvested, and set up projects that supported Palestinians and Lebanese. The Palestinians have also contributed to Lebanon's security and they are still prepared to fight to protect Lebanon and maintain its security. It is true that some Palestinian factions have made mistakes related to the civil war in Lebanon, but later they realized this mistake and fixed it." This week, Palestinian activists in Lebanon vowed to continue their protests against the crackdown after the Lebanese government rejected demands to rescind its measures against illegal workers. The activists said that despite promises from senior Lebanese officials to stop targeting Palestinian workers and businesses, the crackdown was continuing. They also pointed out that the Lebanese government has thus far failed to issue an official statement to resolve the crisis. As part of their campaign against the Lebanese measures, representatives of several Palestinian factions in Lebanon met with Hassan Huballah, an official with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorist group in Beirut, and urged him to help in halting the crackdown on Palestinian workers and businesses. Ginsburg Underwent Cancer
Treatment This Summer

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent three weeks of radiation treatment for pancreatic cancer... the Supreme Court disclosed on Friday. Ginsburg received treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City beginning on August 5, after a localized cancerous tumor was found on Ginsburg's pancreas, according to NPR. Doctors at the hospital found that the cancer had not spread elsewhere in her body. Ginsburg's treatment included inserting a stent in her bile duct, according to the Supreme Court's statement. Ginsburg, who turned 86 in March, has been battling various forms of cancer for decades. In 1999, she was diagnosed with colon cancer, for which she underwent surgery and completed chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Ginsburg underwent surgery again in 2009 for pancreatic cancer. She had a stent placed in her right coronary artery in 2014 for discomfort she experienced while exercising with her personal trainer. Ginsburg was hospitalized in November 2018 after fracturing three ribs when she fell in her office. A subsequent scan of the affected area revealed that Ginsburg had cancerous nodules in her lungs. She received a left-lung lobectomy to remove the nodules in December 2018. Ginsburg missed an oral argument in January while she recuperated from the surgery. It was the first time she had missed a Supreme Court oral argument since taking office in August 1993. Ginsburg has 11 events planned for September and has not canceled any of them, according to NPR. The Supreme Court begins a new term in October and most justices return to work in September. President Donald Trump has already appointed two Supreme Court justices, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) has indicated that the Republican-led Senate would not hesitate to confirm a third if a vacancy should open up before a new session of Congress begins in 2021...

{ jihadwatch.org } ~ There is nothing wrong with students learning about Islam in school, if what they’re taught is accurate. But it isn’t... Because of the overpowering influence of the multiculturalist ethos and fears of charges of “Islamophobia” and “racism,” public school materials on Islam and other religions are for the most part heavily biased, with scarcely a critical word about Islam, Muhammad depicted as a cross between Gandhi and Sheriff Andy Taylor, no mention of jihad or dhimmitude, and harsh criticism of Christianity. The Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), a national nonprofit public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has uncovered evidence of a well-orchestrated Islamic propaganda campaign aimed at teachers in school systems throughout Michigan and several other states. Concerned about a two-day mandatory teacher-training seminar on Islam conducted by a Muslim consultant hired by Michigan’s Novi Community Schools District, TMLC filed a Freedom of Information Act request for documents related to the workshop. Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Law Center, commented on the results of their investigation, “We found that the teachers were subjected to two days of Islamic propaganda, where Islam was glorified, Christianity disparaged, and America bashed—all funded by Novi taxpayers.” Moreover, during the past five years the school district has presented no teacher-training seminars focusing on Christianity, Judaism or any other religion – only Islam. The hired Muslim consultant was Huda Essa, a resident of the Dearborn area and of Arab descent. She appeared before the Novi teachers in a hijab, the Muslim headscarf, billing herself as an expert in “cultural competency” and “culturally responsive teaching.”... No wonder our schools are doing so bad.

Trump Cautions Jewish Voters Who
Support Democrats
Thomas Gallatin: Once again the Leftmedia had a conniption fit over President Donald Trump’s latest comments. And once again much of the mainstream media was focused on the question, “How could he say such things?” while seemingly ignoring the deeper question, “Why is Trump saying such things?” It’s no mystery that Trump is a troll, meaning he intentionally drops rhetorical bombs to stir the pot and direct the conversation. This has been his modus operandi going back decades.
Trump on Tuesday asserted that Jewish people who vote Democrat are being “disloyal.” On Wednesday, he further clarified his comments, explaining that he meant they were being “disloyal to Jewish people and very disloyal to Israel.” In other words, Trump’s comments were clearly not the anti-Semitic trope of “dual loyalty” expressed by Democrats Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. However, it’s easy to see why Trump’s remarks could be taken as offensive, particularly since the vast majority of Jewish Americans vote Democrat and have done so for decades.
Trump’s comments ring similar to those expressed by leftists for years. How many times have Democrats accused women who don’t support their leftist policy positions on women’s issues of voting against their own interests? How many times have black conservatives been told they are working against their own interests? In other words, this is yet another instance of Trump playing politics like a Democrat.
Clearly, Trump is attempting to put a spotlight on the growing and very real problem of anti-Semitism currently metastasizing within the Democrat Party. His calling out of Jewish Americans for supporting Democrats raises a question that has often puzzled many conservatives: Why support a party that is seemingly hell-bent on building a socialist road toward a totalitarian state, especially given the history of how socialist states have treated Jews? And why continue to support a party whose members leading this socialist crusade espouse such anti-Semitic views? Obviously, there’s great nuance involved in the reasons behind anyone’s political opinions, but the question is still valid.
And it is clear that anti-Semitism is a growing problem, specifically in the West. The European Union is poised to enact a rule that eerily harkens back to the Holocaust era. As The Washington Free Beacon reports, “The Advocate General of the European Court of Justice recently issued non-binding opinion arguing that EU law requires Israeli-made products to be labeled as coming from ‘settlements’ and ‘Israeli colonies.’”
While Trump’s methods of political engagement can be grating and off-putting, he is effective in focusing a lot of attention on issues that the MSM might otherwise choose to ignore. ~The Patriot Post
