 NRA Declines Debate With nObama
The question is this: Can the Second Amendment hold up before a freewheeling and possibly rigged debate? Should a defender of Liberty enter a situation where he or she is unfairly targeted and present their ideas to a potentially hostile audience, hopefully winning some over? While we believe that the truth ultimately prevails, the National Rifle Association declined to send a spokesman to defend its views on firearms to Barack nObama's face. CNN is scheduled to hold a town hall event with the chief executive to talk about the issue of "gun violence" in Virginia Thursday night. But as the NRA told the network through its spokesman Andrew Arulanandam, "The National Rifle Association sees no reason to participate in a public relations spectacle orchestrated by the White House." They're absolutely right about nObama's intentions, but perhaps this was also a jab at CNN, which regularly carries water for the administration. But in a way it's a lost opportunity. Now, more than ever, Americans need to hear that owning a firearm is not only not bad, but good. It's participating in American government.
As David French so aptly wrote in his response to nObama crying while announcing his executive orders on gun control, "Gun ownership goes to the heart of what it means to be a responsible citizen in our constitutional republic. It goes to the heart of what it means to be a responsible parent or spouse. It isn't merely about hunting, or the joy of an afternoon at the firing range, or 'looking tough.' It isn't about fear. It's about autonomy, independence, and a deep and self-sacrificial regard for the lives of those you love. It's about exercising the fundamental human right to defend oneself and others."
What would nObama have to say to that?  -The Patriot Post

 The Case for Clinton's Indictment
Will Hilly Clinton be indicted? This former U.S. attorney thinks so. Joe DiGenova, a Ronald Reagan appointee, says the FBI has "reached a critical mass in their investigation of the secretary and all of her senior staff, and, it's going to come to a head, I would suggest, in the next 60 days." He argues she'll be indicted because Attorney General Loretta Lynch won't be able to avoid it. "It's going to be a very complex matter for the Department of Justice, but they're not going to be able to walk away from it," DiGenova said. "They are now at over 1,200 classified emails. And, that's just for the ones we know about from the State Department. That does not include the ones that the FBI is, in fact, recovering from her hard drives. ... I believe that the evidence that the FBI is compiling will be so compelling that, unless [Lynch] agrees to the charges, there will be a massive revolt inside the FBI, which she will not be able to survive as an attorney general. It will be like Watergate. It will be unbelievable." Finally, he said, "The evidence against the Clinton staff and the secretary is so overwhelming at this point that if, in fact, she chooses not to charge Hilly, they will never be able to charge another federal employee with the negligent handling of classified information. The intelligence community will not stand for that. They will fight for indictment and they are already in the process of gearing themselves to basically revolt if she refuses to bring charges." Of course, only time will tell, but it sure would be earth-moving if he's right.  -The Patriot Post

 OPINION IN BRIEF
Victor Davis Hanson: "Over the last seven years, the world has become acclimatized to the lead-from-behind role of the United States. Under Obama, friends and enemies bet that America was conflicted about the wisdom and morality of the entire American-led postwar global enterprise and reacted accordingly. But — who knows? — the next American president may identify radical Islam as the catalyst for terrorism directed at the West. Cuba in 2017 may no longer be seen as a newfound friend but as an old-time violator of human rights. Next year, will the Islamic State still be seen as a 'jayvee' organization, or as an existential danger to the U.S. homeland? In all of these cases, uncertainty rather than assured continuity in present U.S. foreign policy is likely — largely because the stubborn and tone-deaf Obama administration has lost the support of the American public on almost all of its foreign policy initiatives, from signing the Iran pact, to dealing with terrorism, to handling China and Russia. Unfortunately, the predictable corrections under a new president in 2017 will make 2016 more dangerous than any year since 1980."

{news.usni.org} ~ The United States Navy just struck an iceberg. It won’t sink the fleet, but it will damage its ability to deter emerging global conflicts... And one of those challenges became more apparent last week when the Chinese announced it was building its second aircraft carrier. The navigational hazard was in plain sight. But last month the full danger of its unseen mass hit the Navy in the form of a directive from the Secretary of Defense Ash Carter to Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus. The Navy Secretary was told in blunt language that the course it was following was wrong, and the sea service needed to change how it spends its money. Instead of building more ships, the Navy should invest in high-end weapons systems such as the F-35 fighter plane and more smart munitions. “While we seek to deter wars,” Carter said, it is more important to “fight and win them.” Carter is an experienced, highly respected defense professional, and his views on curtailing shipbuilding—his exact words were that the 308-ship target “should be met but not irresponsibly exceeded”—undoubtedly reflect the President who appointed him. But this reallocation of resources will affect naval strategy, the perception of allies and foes alike, and even recruitment tactics. The shift is both shocking and dangerous.

{washingtontimes.com} ~ TransCanada on Wednesday accused President nObama in a federal lawsuit of exceeding his constitutional authority when rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline and, in a separate challenge, said the White House violated a historic trade agreement, igniting an election-year battle over a project that most considered dead — at least until the next president takes office in one year... The company, which proposed the project nearly a decade ago, is seeking $15 billion in damages from the U.S. for the “loss of value” of assets related to Keystone. “In its decision, the U.S. State Department acknowledged the denial was not based on the merits of the project,” TransCanada said in a statement. “Rather, it was a symbolic gesture based on speculation about the perceptions of the international community regarding the administration’s leadership on climate change and the president’s assertion of unprecedented, independent powers.”

{freespeechpatriots.com} ~ CAIR has a powerful ally in their pursuit of Muslim preference in the United States, one that is anxious to insert their boundless wealth and legal resources into intimidation and economic terrorism in order to advance the pro-Islamic cause... That partner standing at the ready to unleash a torrent of bureaucratic pain and abuse upon the non-compliant, non submissive Americans is the United States federal government, in its new persona, Uncle Samar. Just as Attorney General Loretta Lynch offered a special invitation to Muslims to file grievances against any perceived threat or abuse through the DOJ, in a manner of access which is in itself discriminatory to non-Muslims, the regime is also provoking and encouraging frivolous lawsuits by Muslims against employers. There can be no motivation other than to empower the Islamists with privileges which extend beyond those of regular Americans and to intimidate Americans into silent submission. The nObama regime has issued pro-Islamic dictates following the San Bernardino massacres to guard against the potential “irrational backlash” against Muslims for their association with the senseless killing of yet more innocent Americans. We’re all supposed to be bigger than that and, as nObama would say, “it’s not who we are.” He knows nothing of who we are, being a foreigner himself, and we aren’t bigger than that. In fact, we’re exactly that size. Take your ego and “holier than thou” arrogance and go lecture somewhere in Africa, nObama.  http://freespeechpatriots.com/archives/24519

{freespeechpatriots.com} ~ Senator Jeff Sessions notes that the Democrats produced only one budget in five years and that Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY) has produced one in his first year as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee... Senator Sessions offers some comments as to the wasteful nature of federal spending and the out of control downward spiral of indebtedness we find ourselves trapped in. Senator Sessions notes that the United States’ gross federal debt now stands at $18.2 trillion dollars, up from $10.6 trillion when nObama took over, what Sessions describes as “a shocking increase by any standards, one that threatens the future of every single American.” He notes that the interest payment on the debt alone is already six times the federal highway budget. Calling it a “national calamity,” Sessions describes how “One in seven dollars taken from the American people and the economy will be utilized and spent for nothing. Interest is a burglar raiding the incomes of next generations to pay for today’s reckless living. It drains the wealth of nations. It is a stealth tax on every working person.”

The report, published Wednesday, comes just after VA officials touted the reduction of backlogged claims to just under 75,000 cases, a decrease of 88 percent from the highest point in 2013. While the agency had committed to reducing claims backlog to zero by the end of fiscal year 2015, VA officials have since admitted that it may never reach “absolute zero.”

{investigativeproject.org} ~ Thursday's announcement that the New York Police Department (NYPD) will settle a lawsuit filed by Muslim activist groups is unsettling and confounding... With Islamic terrorist acts on the rise globally and the FBI stating that it has as many as 900 open cases on individuals suspected of being ISIS operatives, it is beyond reason that NYPD would cave to the demands by a select group to impede investigations in potential terrorist cases. The department was accused of singling out the Muslim community for surveillance and undercover operations in a post 9/11 world, as if that was some sort of abnormal behavior by law enforcement. The original suit, brought by several Islamist activist organizations, included the Muslim Students Association and the Muslim Foundation, accused the NYPD of violating their civil rights through a program which including surveillance and intelligence gathering of the Muslim community in New Jersey. It was tossed by U.S. District Judge William J. Martini in February 2014. Then, the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated the lawsuit last October.

{algemeiner.com} ~ A senior Israeli government official blasted Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for comments he made during a televised speech from his Bethlehem office on Wednesday night... “There are so many contradictions in Abu Mazen’s Abbas’ stance in general that it’s difficult to know where to start,” the official told The Algemeiner on Thursday. “He says he wants peaceful resistance against Israel and then praises knife attacks against Israelis. He threatens to dissolve the PA and then says he’ll never do it. He says he believes in peace, but embraces Hamas. His leadership is perplexing, and it’s high time the international community demand that he unequivocally condemn terrorism and return to peace talks without any preconditions.” The Israeli official was referring to remarks that the PA leader has been making throughout his presidency, and particularly since the beginning of the current surge in Palestinian terrorism, which began nearly four months ago. Abbas’ speech this week was delivered during and in honor of the Greek Orthodox Christmas celebrations, which take place every year at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, believed to be the birthplace of Jesus.

Interview with Hilly Clinton
about Benghazi
photo.jpg Tom McLaughlin
.
“Somebody’s lying,” I said to Hilly Clinton. “Who is it?” “Well, it’s not me,” she answered. “That’s all I can tell you.”
.
Hillary%2Binterview%2B1.jpg
Tom Eastman, Mark Guerringue, Hilly Clinton
.
This was last Wednesday when Hilly’s huge entourage returned to The Conway Daily Sun’s office for another interview. She’d been there in 2007 during her first presidential campaign but I was still teaching then and I missed it. This time I really wanted to be there, so I drove twenty-five miles in a snowstorm, hoping she wouldn’t cancel. She didn’t.
.
Hillary%2Binterview%2B2.jpg
.
Few journalists are able to pin her down because she controls who gets to ask her questions as well as what those questions will be. I don’t think she was expecting any tough ones at the Sun interview. Sun publisher Mark Guerringue’s opening comments included a reference to the Benghazi attack and her conflicting claims about what caused it. She referred to several congressional investigations, saying: “If people don’t want to accept the facts, there’s nothing I can do about that… and for people to use Stevens’ death, Seans’s death, and the death of the two CIA contractor’s for political purposes really dishonors them and… their whole purpose is to somehow derail me. And I understand it’s nothing but politics to them but it’s not just politics to me.”
.
I inserted myself at this point, saying: “I have a specific question about that if I could interject.”
.
“Sure,” said Mark.
.
benghazi_cloud_white_house_10-28-12-2.jpg
.
Turning to Hilly, I said, “You mentioned the families of the Benghazi victims and the discrepancy Mark brought up about your email — or conversation maybe — with your daughter…”
.
“Um-hmm,” said Hilly.
.
“…about it being an al Qaida-like group, Ansar al Sharia. Then you told an Egyptian diplomat in a phone conversation that it was a planned attack and not a protest. Umm, but then, when the bodies were brought back, you spoke to the family members and you told them, they say that you told them, this was a spontaneous demonstration. And then George Stephanopolous asked on This Week: “Did you tell them it was about the film?”
.
Hillary on This Week
.
“Um-hmm,” she said.
.
“And you said, ‘No.’ Now, somebody’s lying…”
.
“Well first let me say,” she interjected, but I pressed on.
.
“…Who is it?”
.
“Well, not me. That’s all I can tell you,” she continued. “But, you know, people were incredibly emotionally distraught. Let, let’s give everybody a little bit of breathing room here and recognize that, [pause] There — I mean I-I’m trying to remember what is in the public record and what isn’t. Let’s just say that some of the families didn’t even know that their sons were working for the CIA and were in Benghazi. This was a huge emotional blow, and I’m very sympathetic to that. I can only tell you what the facts were. That period when I talked to the Egyptian Prime Minister was in that bubble when we thought there was a terrorist group taking credit for it, and that’s what we said. And when they withdrew, and when the intelligence community, led by the CIA, basically said we don’t know yet. Because remember, the CIA and the intel community was guiding us about what they thought happened and we had to rely on that. We didn’t have any independent information or verification. All this material was coming in. The CIA was sorting it out.”
.
benghazi-cover-up-what-difference-does-it-make.jpg
.
There were several places here where I wanted to interrupt her, but I restrained myself and let her go on.
.
She went on, saying, “And if you look at the reports that were done, ah, by the minority on the Benghazi Committee, because it’s a much more reliable source than the Republican majority. They go through, chapter and verse, timing, about what happened, when, and the bottom line is what happened is that people were doing the best they could dealing with information that was changing, and the CIA wrote and approved the talking points that were used, ahh, and it was also true that from Egypt, to Tunisia, to Pakistan, the video was the primary spark that was sending people into protesting against our facilities. All of this was happening simultaneously. It wasn’t either/or as much as people want to get to the bottom of it. It was an amalgam of information and action.”
.
“I’m sure those people were distraught,” I said.
.
“Yes,” she said.
.
“Three different people — Tyrone Woods’ father said — about you — that you said, ‘We’re going to have those people arrested who were responsible for the death of your son.’ Sean Smith’s mother reported, ‘She [Hilly] said that it was because of the video.’ And then Glenn Doherty’s sister said that, “You chose to, in that moment, to basically perpetuate what you knew was untrue.’ So, all three of them say you told them that.”
.
.
“Well,” she said.
.
I ignored her and continued, “And you say you didn’t tell them that.”
.
“I can only tell you what I know happened,” she said. “I can’t, I can’t speak to them. I can tell you what Chris Steven’s family believes. I can tell you what Sean Smith’s wife believes. I can tell you what other family members believe, because yes,”
.
“But you didn’t tell them that,” I said.
.
34e23d4bcc3a1271785298a85b1d3c3c.jpg
.
“I did not tell them that, but, I can’t recite for you everything that was in a conversation where people were sobbing, where people were distraught, where groups of us — the president, the vice president — we were all making the rounds, talking to people, listening to people, and I was in a very difficult position because I had not yet said that two of the four people dead were CIA. Because we were under, ah, very strict directions, from the CIA, not to reveal that yet. So this was — this was — again, part of the fog of war. And, you know, I regret that anybody [pause] has a [pause], you know, an attitude or feeling that I do not [pause] think [pause] is accurate, but I’m not going to do anything other than express my sympathy for them because, I think they deserve it. They were, people who lost their children. They have every right to believe whatever they want to believe, but the facts don’t bear it out.”
.
Hillary-Lies.jpg .
Being part of a team I dropped it there, not because I wanted to — especially when she said, “the CIA wrote and approved the talking points that were used.” — but because I could not dominate the interview with about twenty others present who also wanted to question her.
