If you were the new President, would the following be an avenue you would explore?

Please respond first with YES or NO

and then offer an explanation if you so desire.

A Republican president, who is interested in demonstrating that the Republican Party is interested in the economic health of former USA businesses, should rescue those businesses from the other countries, by offering incentives that are too attractive for businesses to resist.  The cost of moving back to the USA should be tax deductable with all receipts and invoices presented.  The cost of purchasing property on a percentage of property required to place the buildings will tax deducted on a three year schedule.  Those businesses that do not relocate in inner city districts or who are not concerned with manufacturing will receive free property tax for ten years in addition to an income tax fee of only 50% of the going rate.  No matter what the company's function is, and no matter where it is located, the company will have those regulations that make it difficult to exist removed.  Desired results: Returning former USA businesses to the USA; skilled and non-skilled people who have been accessing government assistance would no longer require government assistance; skilled and non-skilled people who have been working inn positions whose compensations are less than what once the worker's standard may return to a higher plateau of salary.  There would be a creation of small stores surrounding the businesses with food and other needed items which would also help in the tax base and with unemployment reduction; and company-school relationships could be established to create scholarships to workshops, to work-related camps, and/or to college, and to sponsor field trips; and to cause a lowering of the inner city unemployment rate.

  • Not going to happen with the current government in place!  WHY?  LET ME COUNT A FEW REASONS. [Not all by any means]

    1. Taxes

    2. OSHA

    3. EPA

    4. Tort laws and lawyers

    5. State and local Laws Zoning and the NIMBY's

    6. Endangered species act!

    7. USDA

    8. Unions and other labor issues?

I can list many more but you see the problem.

What kind of jobs do you want to come back here: manufacturing, mining, oil refining, chemical plants?  It will never happen with government and tort laws in place.  But the fact that about 50% of all citizens are receiving a pay check or hand out from some level of government is another reason!  Someone has to support those checks and that starts with the deep pockets!

  • Sharon... Manufacturing will not return to the US as long as we refuse to use Tariffs and Imposts to establish a level playing field for trade... US wages are unable to compete with .12 Cent per hour wages in places like Bangladesh.  Zero taxes and massively reduced regulatory oversight will  not offset the wage differential.

No US manufacturer is capable of achieving market parity and profitability, when compelled to compete against retail consumer goods produced in countries with .12c/hr. wages. Even before free trade our inner cities were suffering capital flight as manufacturing left for the third world.  Once the Tariffs and Imposts formerly levied against imports manufactured in foreign countries was removed... there was no way for US Manufacturing to compete... none.

What little manufacturing remains in the US does so out of patent rights, held by small to medium sized companies unable to make the jump to the third world.  Some specialty items and high quality products remain competitive due to their reputation, name and loyal owners.  However, these companies are being bought out or slowly succumbing to cheap labor and are being forced to close shop in America.

  • Great ideas.  I would re-do if not eliminate all the regulations.  Re do the tax code  making it very little for business.  Make the USA user friendly to all business as it use to be.  This would also include manufacturing and lots of it.  That would supply jobs to millions and not involve unions of any kind.  The business should have a person like HR but only for work related concerns.  It can be done and has been before.  We needs jobs above all else that is what will drive the  tax code and the people.

  • Thank you, Colonel Nelson, Sir, and may God bless your efforts.  I'm not as lean and not quite as mean, but I'm still a Marine (just a grunt!), and I would be more than happy to help you with any of your efforts.

Nice photo; I'm raising a grandson after having raised a whole bunch of self-sufficient kids.

  • Ed...

I feel your pain and understand the terrible decline and moral ineptness of our leadership today... America indeed suffers more from her moral decay and the loss of our Godly heritage, than from any of the plagues present in the administration of our current government.

John Adams remarks appropriately address our situation today:

"we have no government armed with power  capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality  and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, • would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale  goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a  moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the  government of any other."

There is no government body able to contend with the unbridled passions of an immoral people... I fear our Nation has fallen to an unbridled generation of  immoral people... that avarice, ambition and the self-interest of the people have broken the cords of our Constitution.  Our nation has abandoned its moral compass and our ship of state is now adrift in a sea of distress and ruin... without a helm capable of bringing her to safe harbors.

Indeed our Constitution and Republican form of government is wholly inadequate to govern an immoral and reprobate people.  John Adams understood that government of the people, for the people and by the people derived its moral authority to govern righteously from a moral people.  Adam's knew that our form of government is rooted in the people's consent to be governed.  That by its very nature, our government would reflect the moral character of those governed.  Therefore, our government would be wholly inadequate to govern any other than a moral people.

Today we find that our government is wholly inadequate to govern... and that the people seem unwilling and powerless to right our ship of State as she struggles to survive.  What we need is a national moral revival... the return of Godly order in our government.  Our Constitution is wholly incapable of governing a people whose avarice and immoral character would reap where they have not sown and would put their neighbor in bondage to sustain their own cause.

We must turn from our present immoral course... too, reengage the path our forefather's so righteously prepared for our generation. We must embrace God's order and rule of law if we are to survive the coming storm.

  • Colonel Nelson, when Ronald Reagan was our president, I was working as an engineer in "the defense industry" and making over $100,000 per year.  When Bill Clinton was elected, we all saw the writing on the wall, and, sure enough, I lost my job and career in 1995.  Since then I have been a sheriff's deputy, and, after a divorce left me in charge of eight children and unable to be gone from home for twelve to fifteen hours at a time, a self-employed "whatever needs to be done" entrepreneur.  Since becoming self-employed, I have averaged about a thousand dollars per month.  Going from $100,000 to $12,000 per year has radically altered my standard of living.

Unless we eliminate "globalism", "progressivism", "communism", "atheism", "islamism", and every other destructive "ism" from America, there will be no recovery from our current state.  Indeed, America's decline will do nothing but accelerate unless we return to America's roots as a nation built upon Judeo-Christian principles.  John Adams, who was probably the most intelligent man ever to hold the office of President of the United States of America, summed up what is wrong with the nation of today that was, once upon a time, "America":

Pay special attention to the last two sentences of the first paragraph; America has become, over the past fifty years or so, a nation of people who are "any other"!

  • I agree with what Becky Elliott has posted but I would add to that as well:

    1)   While we need to focus on bringing home American businesses, we need to FIRST ABOLISH both the IRS and Federal Reserve; RE-INSTITUTE the gold standard and put the silver back into our currency; and especially REFORM THE TAX CODE

    2) After the elimination of the IRS then implement a Flat Tax of 5% to every individual and businesses.  Corporations will not be allowed to make deductions and pay like the rest of us.

    3) Get rid of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) who actually control the Federal Reserve and many others with their ultra-wealthy and Communist members.

    4) Removal of every single Progressive /Communist from our government.

    5)  Re-establish the Authority of the United States Constitution.

    6)  Remove all agencies that are not clearly identified within the US Constitution.

    7)  Enforce all our Immigration Laws to the LETTER, no exceptions.

  •    yes , this is just basic conservative small government thinking . It should be the standard for all financial business bases in this country . Common sense regulations to be at a minimum , small taxes working toward no taxes . Little or no government intrusion , with the states being the monitors of what is best for them .

  • While we need to focus on bringing home American businesses, we need to FIRST ABOLISH both the IRS and Federal Reserve; RE-INSTITUTE the gold standard and put the silver back into our currency; and especially REFORM THE TAX CODE

These 3 major steps will return our currency to a solid foundation and be backed with more than empty /broken promises by a CORRUPT financial agency, backed by Unions that control politicians.

We have to make an environment that is business-friendly, yet fair to American workers, then they will return on their own!
