When 'Hate Crimes' Are Fake News
ph3mHn-8B6g7MZZLk2K9ceXO95hAlM9TLuquCDxNEp_mT_0EBRAvlnE76hW0fr3Z_7PlbvR6eU2DISc_Fdlk8Kv7dQeRExKCgrH-SI8fWsGWvhTnVFZwS8IQqre13Q=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=
A middle-aged man by the name of Andrew McClinton was apprehended this week in connection with a high-profile crime in Greenville, Mississippi, where a black church was set ablaze and "Vote Trump" scribbled in paint across the building. According to The Washington Post, "McClinton is charged with first degree arson of a place of worship, said Warren Strain, spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety." But here's the kicker: "Hopewell Bishop Clarence Green said McClinton, who is African-American, is a member of the church [emphasis added]."
No wonder this isn't plastered all over the front pages of the nation's largest newspapers — the development completely unravels the narrative. Just consider the Post's original coverage from Nov. 3: "The suspected arson is being investigated as a hate crime by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. ... Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons called the fire a 'hateful and cowardly act,' sparked by the incendiary rhetoric of GOP nominee Donald Trump during his presidential campaign."
But you won't find such accusations being thrown around now. The new Post article includes a quote from Mississippi Insurance Commissioner and fire marshal Mike Chaney, who claims, "We do not believe it was politically motivated. There may have been some efforts to make it appear politically motivated." Yes — like from The Washington Post. Hot Air's Jazz Shaw put it best, observing, "You can't simply say that it's 'not politically motivated' just because it turns out to be a different political motivation than the one you originally suspected."
Notice a trend here? Americans are being inundated with stories of supposed "hate crimes." Yet, as Fox News reports, "a number of the incidents have been disproven or shown to be hoaxes or ill-timed jokes." There's fake news alright, and it's coming from those who jump to conclusions before the facts are known. On a final note, there's rich irony in the fact that, in the Mississippi case, the suspect's name includes "liar-Clinton." What other evidence do they need?  ~The Patriot Post

 Infrastructure Spending: Partisanship or Practicality?
m7s3JpnUz-yxCsQJmMeqSCWMJTSUbgl1OROMocnYRxyvduPckjd8K0jimwWokPdM_q-7FuOzJXurII_AqmlLNTnAxruHM1YnDjaHpsUnxeYMHIh2nJQDEa9RgJ__rQ=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=
Partisanship can be a powerfully persuasive force for both good or bad policy. Note the power of partisan persuasiveness that compelled Democrats to stand united to pass that disastrous legislation known as liar-nObamaCare without a single Republican vote. It was also the power of partisanship that helped Republicans erect walls of opposition to stymie much of Barack liar-nObama's agenda.
Since his presidency began, one of liar-nObama's major talking points for creating jobs has been government spending on infrastructure projects. He promised that rebuilding America's aging roads and bridges was going to provide "shovel ready" jobs and get the economy going again. Few disputed the need for infrastructural repairs and updating, but there were two sticking points for conservative Republicans: how the federal government would pay for it and whether it would produce economic growth as the Keynesians promised.
Enter Donald Trump, whose election proved that Americans were fed up with politics as usual and believe Trump, with his business acumen, has the know-how to get the economy rolling again. Many congressional Republicans have taken note, bringing that old, powerful force of partisanship into play again.
Trump has taken liar-nObama's line that the nation's aging infrastructure needs to be addressed. Trump also knows that it will come with a massive price tag of at least $1 trillion. Where will the money come from? Will Republicans who refused to go along with liar-nObama's demand for massive spending increases to pay for infrastructure be swayed to do just that with Trump? The report is that many Republicans are more willing to go along with a massive spending increase, but is this evidence of partisanship overruling principle? It may be in part, but there is also a massive difference between liar-nObama's overall agenda of increased socialism and Trump's plan to grow the economy through tax and regulation cuts. Trump is putting together an impressive economic team to go along with his own business record, which has earned him a degree of trust that liar-nObama, who hadn't run so much as a lemonade stand, never had.  ~The Patriot Post

{theacru.org} ~ The age of liar-nObama will be remembered for the grotesque perversion of law. The latest example is Justice Department and FBI inaction when it comes to death threats to members of the Electoral College who were voting for Donald Trump... I was on Fox and Friends this week to discuss the failure to respond to these efforts to undermine the constitutional order: Prior to their vote this week, member of the Electoral College received death threats by phone and email. Transmitting death threats via interstate communications is a federal felony punishable by up to five years in prison...  http://www.theacru.org/on-fox-news-doj-fbi-fails-to-investigate-crimes-against-the-electoral-college/

{rickwells.us} ~ No matter how deep the hole is, the liar-Clinton team can always find a way to dig themselves in a little deeper. According to the Daily Mail and messages obtained by Politico, senior liar-Hillary Clinton advisers, including Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri... were in regular communication with those involved in the unfaithful elector effort to subvert the electoral college. The ring leader of the effort to persuade electors to switch their votes away from Donald Trump was an unimpressive former Marine named Michael Baca, who is facing prosecution for failing to honor his oath to cast his vote for Mr. Trump. He was replaced as an elector by the State of Colorado when attempting to vote for John Kasich and he is now facing prosecution. The liar-Clinton staffers in communication with Baca included Jake Sullivan and Palmieri. In one exchange Baca apologized to Sullivan for his being overly urgent, with Sullivan responding, “Not at all! We all share a sense of urgency. Look forward to being in touch.”...  http://rickwells.us/clinton-campaign-party-desperation-electoral-college-coup-attempt/

Samir Qumsieh
{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ Without question, Samir Qumsieh is one of the most courageous Christian leaders in the Middle East. Qumsieh is one of the few willing to risk his life to speak out against Muslim persecution of Christians... in the Palestinian territories and the Middle East, generally. For the past four decades, Samir Qumsieh, who hails from a large and well-respected Christian family in the town of Bet Sahour, near Bethlehem, has fought for the rights of the region's miniscule Palestinian Christian minority. He has even dared to speak out against the subjugation of Christians living under the rule of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The plight of the Christians living under the Palestinian Authority and Hamas is a subject truly taboo. Yet Qumsieh perseveres – and pays the price. He regularly receives death threats, and he has been the target of a petrol bomb attack. Muslim extremists have also distributed leaflets in the Bethlehem area condemning him for his outspoken views and activities on behalf of persecuted Christians...  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9634/palestinian-christians

The Pre-1967 Israeli Borders Never Existed

{lidblog.com} ~ With Friday’s UN Vote, the international body and Barack liar-nObama were basically saying that any Jewish community outside the “pre-1967 borders” is in occupied Palestinian territory... What they won’t admit because of their anti-Israel bias is that there is no such thing as pre-1967 borders. That “green line” running through the West Bank is the 1949 Armistice Line. The armistice line was created solely because that’s Israeli and Arab forces stopped fighting at the end of the War of Independence with some added adjustments in certain sectors. Therefore that 1949 line, that people call 1967 border is really only a military line. In fact, 1949 Armistice Agreement with the Jordanians explicitly specified that the line that was designated did not  compromise any future territorial claims of the two parties, since it had been “dictated by exclusively by military considerations.” Of course the Jordanian rationale for that clause was to allow them to claim territory inside the armistice line for their very own...  http://lidblog.com/no-such-thing-pre-1967-borders/

What General Mattis Did So That
a Marine Could Spend Christmas With
His Family Speaks Volumes
by William Smith
{usni.org} ~ When General James Mattis was announced as Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense, the military community was over the moon. Mattis, who has dedicated his life to the study of war, is a legend in the U.S. Armed Forces... While he’s known for his military genius and killing bad guys, there’s much more to him than that. He deeply cares about his men. In fact, what he did for one Marine on Christmas shows just how much he cares. A couple of months ago, when I told General Krulak, the former Commandant of the Marine Corps, now the chair of the Naval Academy Board of Visitors, that we were having General Mattis speak this evening, he said, “Let me tell you a Jim Mattis story.” General Krulak said, when he was Commandant of the Marine Corps, every year, starting about a week before Christmas, he and his wife would bake hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of Christmas cookies. They would package them in small bundles...  https://blog.usni.org/2010/12/17/a-general-mattis-christmas-story

{city-journal.org} ~ When I was a young man, the duties of a United States Navy machinist’s mate were demanding in execution, but conceptually uncomplicated. The job entailed converting various types of fossil fuels into the mechanical energy needed to propel a warship through the water.

I was a machinist’s mate. It was fun. It was also hard, dirty work of the sort that bonds those who do it well. Any job well done is a source of pride, but in the Navy of the early 1960s, doing the machinist’s mate’s job poorly might have had lethal consequences. As a result, we worked together, we went ashore together, and we drank together. Because that sort of thing can lead to bad behavior, sometimes we wore black eyes together. No fraternity brothers were ever tighter.

In the Navy, a job is called a “rate,” and there are dozens, if not scores, of rates on every ship: engineman, electrician’s mate, yeoman, gunner’s mate, torpedoman, fire controlman, quartermaster, and so on. Each rate has its own ethos, each is its own fraternity; taken together, they comprise a crew. In my day, no ship ever left port without its complement of hospital corpsmen—in the Army they’d have been called medics. The job essentially was dedicated to providing the difference between life and death when circumstances warranted, so no rate was held in higher esteem, and no shipmate was more respected. It wasn’t hard to imagine the shudder that swept the fleet back in 2010, when President liar-nObama, speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, mispronounced the word “corpse man.” It must have been particularly jarring to the countless U.S. Marine combat veterans whose lives had been saved by corpsmen on bullet-torn battlefields around the world. Anybody can make a mistake, of course, but sometimes little things reveal a lot. The administration’s ignorance of military practices and culture was exceeded only by its eagerness to change them.

At the top of liar-nObama’s agenda was the full integration of women into the armed forces, including, finally, into tip-of-the-spear infantry units and special operations organizations. Willfully dismissive of the fact that sometimes biology is destiny, the defense department plowed ahead. In the process, they plowed under the certainty that combat is a Darwinian enterprise, where the strongest generally win and weaklings too often die.

Now comes word that another liar-nObama-era experiment to change military culture has come to an abrupt end. Earlier this year, the Navy announced its decision to scrap the 240-year-old rate system in favor of what Navy secretary Ray Mabus termed a gender-neutral approach. “This is an opportunity to update the position titles and descriptions themselves,” he said, “to demonstrate through this language that women are included in these positions.” With the stroke of a pen, liar-nObama was prepared to bid goodbye to a practice that had defined life in the United States Navy since its founding. There would be no more firecontrolmen, no more yeomen, no more enginemen, no more torpedomen, and no more corpsmen. A particularly cruel cut.

The blowback from sailors and veterans was immediate and substantial. Officials said they had underestimated the fleet’s affection for the old way. The new program was rescinded by the Navy Tuesday night. Whether it would have been rescinded had liar-Hillary Clinton been elected president is anybody’s guess. Probably not, especially if anyone other than former Marine Corps general James Mattis had been named defense secretary. He is, shall we say, a traditionalist.

Venerable institutions shouldn’t be hog-tied by nostalgia. If change is to the good, then it should be embraced, though with deference and respect. Still, tradition has its role. This is especially true in military organizations, where custom, cohesion, and comradeship can make an existential difference.

The Navy’s machinist’s mates have always understood that. It’s a pity that the Pentagon didn’t.
