EMAILS SHOW WEIRD WORLD OF HILLY
Did you hear? There was “no smoking gun” in the 3,000 pages of Hilly Clinton emails disgorged by the State Department on Tuesday night? There was “no incriminating evidence,” said the NYT. Since there wasn’t an email in which the then-Secretary of State wrote, “Hey guys, make sure to fake the Benghazi riot so that we can get away with this,” should we all just move on down the road?
In real life, we know that while there may not be prima facie “incriminating evidence” here, they are anything but exculpatory. What we see here is a woman running a government within the government – a semi-autonomous entity with not just private email system but also privately funded, secret minister without portfolio, speechwriter, intelligence bag man and political fixer, Sidney Blumenthal. Clinton called Blumenthal an “old friend” who passed along some tips “unsolicited.”
That simply is not the true according to these emails that show Blumenthal, deemed unacceptable for an administration post by the White House, carried on in a quasi-official but unaccountable capacity throughout her tenure. Making matters worse, Blumenthal was being paid by Clinton’s family foundation, which we now know was taking unreported donations from foreign governments and entities with business before Clinton and her department.
What a debacle. And, in fact, one might even say that as far as gun smoke goes, there is a strong whiff of cordite around Clinton when it comes to her claims about Blumenthal.
And through it all is an effort to elevate her role in the administration but not her subservience. How much of her autonomy and secrecy were the result of her own aloofness or mistrust of President nObama and his team and how much was a result of nObama shunning Clinton and her team we will likely never know. But inside the emails we get examples small and large of the depth of the dysfunction. We see Clinton passing along an email from her former campaign strategist lambasting one of the president’s speeches on Afghanistan and suggesting she ramp up her role; Clinton eyeing an email from Blumenthal touting nObama’s crumbing poll numbers in Ohio.
Most telling, perhaps, is that the senior White House adviser and even the chief of staff had to go ask for Clinton’s email address many months after the administration had begun. Not only does this weaken White House claims of ignorance about Clinton’s secret, unsecure server but also shows how fraught the relationship was between the two camps. The chief of staff, the captain of the cabinet, asking permission to email a cabinet secretary? Woof.
The picture that comes into focus is of a woman who did not join a team of rivals, but persisted in an exile partly by the sentence of the president and partly of her own making. A remarkable moment comes when Clinton, obviously peeved, tells her staff that she has been called to the White House a second time for a meeting that was cancelled. Another time she hears of a cabinet meeting on the radio (!) and writes to her team to ask if it is so and if she can go.
People have compared the Clintons many times to the ruthlessly effective Underwoods of “House of Cards.” In this batch of emails we see a figure much more like the lead character of another show: Selina Myer of “Veep.”

June's Job Gains Are Good, but the Devil's in the Details
The U.S. economy is like a car that won't shift from second gear into third: It's moving forward and that's great, but we're not on the road that brings 3% GDP growth. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released its June jobs report this morning and the economy did generally what economists predicted it would do. The economy added 233,000 jobs and the unemployment rate declined to 5.3%. The U-6 measure of labor underutilization dropped to 10.5%. But here comes the frustrating part. The percentage of Americans who are working declined by 0.3% to 62.6%, the lowest since 1977. In fact, 432,000 Americans left the workforce — about twice the number that joined last month. Additionally, wages didn't rise from last month's $24.95 average hourly wage. After a couple months in which wages increased, another bump in pay would have indicated that the U.S. economy was healthy. The kinds of jobs added in June were encouraging, as there were increases in architectural and engineering services, health care and computer systems design. Interestingly, BLS reports that the gains in the financial sector increased mostly around insurance carriers. "Commercial banking employment declined by 6,000," the report read. "Employment in financial activities has grown by 159,000 over the year, with insurance accounting for about half of the gain." While Americans have been buying more insurance, coerced or otherwise, fewer of them have been frequenting their local bank. Leftmedia: Say, There Are Too Many Guns Out There
A new survey asserts that nearly a third of American adults own a gun. Who knew? Frankly, we wish that number were higher. But as it is, the study's author and the Leftmedia couldn't be more concerned. “Considering the presence of deeply rooted gun culture and the estimated number of guns in the U.S. to be 310 million, we (suspected) that social gun culture is associated with gun ownership,” said vexed lead author Bindu Kalesan of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York. The researchers' math depended on a 2013 online survey of 4,000 people from all 50 states and DC, so it's hardly a conclusive measure. Undeterred, however, researchers and their accomplices in the press insist that more guns lead to more accidents, injuries and homicides. Lefty journalist Ed Kilgore, for one, is downright petrified, and he identifies the problem: conservatives. "[T]here is something fundamentally disquieting about the fact that the Americans most likely to own guns are also the Americans most likely to embrace a political rationale for gun ownership and most likely to believe they’re getting outvoted by people who don’t share their values," he frets. "Somewhere in these overlapping circles is a hard core of dangerous folks who are being told constantly by Republican politicians that they are losing or have already lost their most fundamental rights. It's interesting that just days after the Supreme Court ruled same-sex marriage is a heretofore undiscovered constitutional right Chick-fil-A came out on top in a customer service satisfaction survey. In fact, the Atlanta-based fast-food chain registered the highest score in the history of the survey. What does same-sex marriage have to do with fried chicken? Recall that, in 2012, the company became the Rainbow Mafia's number one target after Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy voiced his support for biblical marriage. Leftists tried to organize a boycott, but it fell flat as a conservative counter-boycott gave franchises their longest lines ever as people flocked to grab a tasty sandwich on Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. Arizona vs ACA: First Step to Nullify the ACA Goes into Effect

Justin Olson and Vince Leach, House Bill 2643 was passed by both state Houses in Arizona earlier this year... and signed into law by the Governor in April. It goes into effect on July 3rd. This tragic fact was brought home for me when I watched a three-minute video produced by an outfit calling itself Government Gone Wild. It started out by telling us that if you type in the words “How do I qualify for…” on your computer, the top 10 sites on any search engine will tell you how to qualify for such things as food stamps, Medicaid, disability and earned income credit. In other words, you and millions of illegal aliens will learn how to latch onto the government teat.

The video also shared the alarming news that 41% of all births and 60% of elderly long term care is paid for with our tax dollars, and that one of every three households, accounting for 144,000,000 people, receive food stamps, subsidized housing, cash welfare and free health care.

The clique leaders are generally hard-bitten blondes who have it in for a nice girl, who has innocently caught the eye of her boyfriend. It seems to me that they should set one of those movies in Washington with a cast that includes Kirsten Powers, Marie Harf, Jen Psaki and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. When it comes to cold eyes, snarky smiles and a bratty attitude, Central Casting couldn’t come close to matching this quartet.

I guess because Williams and Stephanopoulos have spent so many years hanging with politicians, they were pretty good at it.

In poker circles, when you subconsciously tip off whether or not you’re bluffing, it’s called a “tell.” In Brady’s case, when asked if he had knowingly cheated by using a deflated ball against the Indianapolis Colts, he said: “I don’t believe so.” That was also how Ms. Dolezal responded when she was asked if she was lying when she claimed to be a black woman.
