backstabber Boehner Bids for Time in Immigration Fight With   nObama
There are only hours left until the clock strikes midnight and the Department of Homeland Security runs out of funding. While Senate Majority Leader Mitch McCon-nell seemingly kissed up to the filibustering Democrat minority, passing a clean DHS funding bill that gives the department money to fund Barack nObama's immigration executive actions, House Speaker backstabber John Boehner is not so compromising. When a reporter asked Thursday if backstabber Boehner would propose a clean DHS funding bill, he blew defiant kisses in reply. At the same press conference, backstabber Boehner said, "We passed a bill to fund the department six weeks ago. Six weeks ago! It's time for the Senate to act. How many times do I have to say it?" So as a counteroffer, backstabber Boehner introduced a continuing resolution that would simply fund DHS for three weeks. While it buys the GOP more time, a defiant president waits at the end of the legislative process. nObama recently said if congressional Republicans "want to have a vote on whether what I'm doing is legal or not, they can have that vote. I will veto that vote." Lawmakers, he says, don't have the power to make laws.  -The Patriot Post

 Here Comes 'Net Neutrality'
As expected, the Federal Communications Commission on Thursday approved so-called net neutrality rules. Fox News reports, "[T]he rules, more broadly, would put the Internet in the same regulatory camp as the telephone by classifying it like a public utility, meaning providers like Comcast or Verizon would have to act in the 'public interest' when providing [an Internet] connection to your home or phone. Republican Commissioner Ajit Pai, who delivered some of the most scathing criticism of the plan Thursday, warned the policy represents a 'monumental shift' to 'government control of the Internet.'" Pai also criticized FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler for his secrecy and the length of the "332-page Internet regulation plan." According to FCC counsel Gigi Sohn, however, only eight of those pages contain actual regulation -- the rest is supporting documentation. Clearly this is not a black-and-white subject, and the jury is still out on whether the FCC's ruling will do more good than harm, but that's mostly because it doesn't go to the crux of the problem, which is lack of competition. The FCC's action won't create more of it. Indeed, it's not at all clear it will usher in a neutral net. What is clear, however, is that the greatest invention since Gutenberg's printing press will now be regulated by a bureaucracy that still struggles to build a functioning website.  And the GOP Presidential Primaries Begin
It's CPAC time, baby! Yesterday, the Republican Party's presidential hopefuls addressed the 10,000 grassroots conservatives gathered at the Conservative Political Action Conference, hoping to drum up support in what The Wall Street Journal calls one of the most populated primary contests in recent history. After eight years of Barack nObama, the GOP needs to decide how the party will grow. Some highlights: Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker told the audience, "In America we celebrate our independence from the government, not our dependence on it." Sen. Ted Cruz warned establishment Republicans are "cutting a deal" with the Left on Immigration. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal blasted the constitution-breaking president, saying, "It is time for our Republican leaders in Congress to grow a spine" to confront him. It's all tough talk aimed at tickling the ears of the defenders of Liberty who live far-removed from the Beltway. But in the end, when the temporary tattoos wash away, the NRA rifle is raffled off and everybody goes home, what matters is how these politicians did or did not defend Liberty in the positions they now occupy.  Walker Doesn't Care What the Media Thinks
In an op-ed for USA Today, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker responded indirectly to the grilling he received over Rudy Giuliani's recent comments about Barack nObama's patriotism. "Americans believe our nation is facing some substantial challenges," Walker wrote. "Government spending is out of control. Terrorists seek to destroy our way of life. Our economic recovery has been slow. Our borders aren't secure. The federal government has usurped powers that rightly belong to our states." In other words, these issues are the serious ones. He concluded, "There has been much discussion about a media double standard where Republicans are covered differently than Democrats, asked to weigh in on issues the Democrats don't face. As a result, when we refuse to take the media's bait, we suffer. I felt it this week when I was asked to weigh in on what other people said and did and what others' beliefs are. If you are looking for answers to those questions, ask those people. I will always choose to focus on what matters to the American people, not what matters to the media." That approach is just one reason why Ronald Reagan was so successful.   -The Patriot Post

Emily Miller Only One of 16 DC Residents Okayed for a Gun Permit   Journalist Emily Miller's journey to navigate the snarls of the District of Columbia's gun laws began in 2011, when she inadvertently came face-to-face with a criminal while armed with only her cell phone. Her quest for a handgun in the nation's most anti-gun city is nearing its conclusion as she was recently approved for a permit to carry in the city. But even after the Heller decision, the process is insurmountably high for citizens to exercise their right to bear arms because citizens have to demonstrate they have a reason (the Constitution evidently isn't sufficient) to convince the police to okay their firearm permit. "I got the police reports from two different threats against me, as well as an FBI warning that a terror group is targeting journalists," Miller wrote. "I turned in my application at the end of November. … I didn't hear anything until early February. … Keep in mind, any American can apply for a D.C. gun permit. But so far, only 76 have done so. Thirty-one were denied. Five cancelled their own applications. And 16 were approved." This is what the Second Amendment looks like under a mayor who declared she hates guns. While she swore to "protect the Constitution and what the courts say," she promises to do the opposite: "I will do it in the most restrictive way as possible."   -The Patriot Post

Hilly Caught Abusing Taxpayer Dollars in Massive Act of Corruption
(conservativetribune.com) - Hilly Clinton may have just been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Watchdog organizations are raising red flags over lucrative deals that Bill Clinton made while his wife Hilly was secretary of state...There is strong evidence that the former president made significant money from speaking appearances and donations while Hilly used her influence to “green light” the engagements. Under an ethics agreement that the Clintons made with the nObama administration, certain paid speeches made by former President Clinton had to be reviewed to ensure that there was no conflict of interest. Without exception, however, those speaking engagements were immediately approved by Hilly’s State Department without a second glance.       http://conservativetribune.com/hillary-massive-corruption-2/?utm_source=feedblitz&utm_medium=FeedBlitzEmail&utm_content=936184&utm_campaign=0

Supreme Court ruling could increase nObamacare premiums 700%
( Robert King) - If the government loses in a major nObamacare challenge before the Supreme Court, it will result in premium increases of up to 700 percent for nearly 8 million people, a new analysis claims...The analysis from think tank Avalere Health was released Thursday as the nObama administration continues to take heat from Congress for having no backup plan in case the Supreme Court ruling in King v. Burwell doesn't go their way. Oral arguments are set to start on Wednesday for the case, which has the potential to cripple the healthcare law. The case challenges the government's authority to dole out subsidies to the 37 states with federal-run exchanges. Plaintiffs say the Affordable Care Act specifically only allows for states that set up their own exchanges to receive subsidies, while the government says the plaintiffs are misinterpreting the law.       http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/court-ruling-could-raise-obamacare-costs-700/article/2560828

On The Kurdish Front Line In The Fight Against ISIS
(Journeyman Picture) - In the disputed area on the edges of IS-controlled territory are the last outposts of Kurdish resistance to IS. With incredible access this report meets the hardened fighters and embittered refugees among them...Since the start of the Syrian war, nearly 13.6 million people have been displaced, crossing bridges and passing through checkpoints at great peril to escape the violence. Mosul is one of the towns to recently fall under IS control. "IS controls everyone's daily routine. Everything you hear about them is true", says a man who fled the town. He has made it to Erbil, recently recaptured by Kurd forces, who are waging a bloody war with Islamic State to protect their land. Gunfights, car bombs and aerial attacks are a daily reality for the soldiers and the displaced who occupy this zone, mere kilometres from the waving flags of the Islamic State.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00s8h3DIKEs&feature=em-subs_digest-vrecs

An Ottoman Relic—and Turkish Ambitions in Syria—are Re-laid to Rest
(Burak Bekdil) - Turkey's dramatic miscalculation over Syria is pushing it into weird acts. The latest was the forced relocation of a pre-Ottoman Turkish commander's tomb from its spot in Syria to another spot in Syria, this time a stone's throw away from the Turkish border...Relocating the tomb seems to have been prompted by the fear of an attack from radical Islamists -- who, ironically, Turkey wanted discreetly to support. Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who in 2001 authored the 600-page book, "Strategic Depth," hoped at the start of the Arab Spring, when he served as Foreign Minister, that a belt of (Sunni) Muslim Brotherhood-ruled regimes would proliferate in Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon and Libya, and be subservient to an emerging Turkish empire. To start with Syria, therefore, the Nusayri strongman of the country, President Bashar al-Assad, had to go.       http://www.meforum.org/5061/turkish-relics

Allen West: Who I Am Backing For President
(AllenBWest.com) - I had to tell one interviewer that I don’t cheerlead any person but rather rally to my country. As well it’s far too early to start fawning over any one person. But what I told most interviewers was that I am not focused on the individual but rather I am looking through a certain prism...I want find the person who can be seated in a room with very dangerous dictators, despots, autocrats, and theocrats and stare them down. I’m looking for that leader who can sit across from Vladimir Putin and non-verbally send a message. I’m looking for the leader that can send a message of strength, exceptionalism, and resolve without uttering a word — a commanding presence.       http://libertyalliance.com/allen-west-who-i-am-backing-for-president/#

Education Depart Floods Schools With New Rules And Regulations
(LibertyUnyielding.com) -Recently, a task force of college presidents chronicled massive regulatory overreaching by the U.S. Department of Education, which, on a daily basis, floods America’s schools with new rules and obligations...that Congress never intended. Most of these rules are not even listed in the Code of Federal Regulations, and have never gone through the formal rulemaking process, much less been adequately vetted. “The Report of the Task Force on Federal Regulation of Higher Education: Recalibrating Regulation of Colleges and Universities” correctly notes that:       http://libertyalliance.com/education-department-floods-schools-with-new-rules-and-regulations/

Charting nObama’s Crackdown on National Security Leaks
(Cora Currier) - Despite promises to strengthen protections for whistleblowers, the nObama administration has launched an aggressive crackdown on government employees who have leaked national security information to the press...With charges filed against NSA leaker Edward Snowden this June, the administration has brought a total of seven cases under the Espionage Act, which dates from World War I and criminalizes disclosing information “relating to the national defense.” Prior to the current administration, there had been only three known casesresulting in indictments in which the Espionage Act was used to prosecute government officials for leaks. The administration has also targeted journalists. In May, it was revealed that the Department of Justice had secretly seized AP reporters’ phone recordswhile investigating a potential CIA leak, and targeteda Fox News reporter as part of a criminal leak case (outlined below). No journalist  has been chargedwith a crime. But the news prompted an outcry that nObama’s hard line on leaks could have a "chilling effect" on investigative reporting that depends on inside sources. (In response, the Justice Department issued new guidelines limiting when journalists’ records can be sought.)       http://www.propublica.org/special/sealing-loose-lips-charting-obamas-crackdown-on-national-security-leaks
Remembering Malcolm X Fifty Years Later
Daniel Pipes

(danielpipes.org/blog) - On this date fifty years ago, the man best known as Malcolm X was killed by a Nation of Islam (NoI) hit squad while speaking on in Harlem, New York.

Born Malcolm Little in Omaha on May 19, 1925, to a Baptist minister father and West Indian mother, both politically involved, he lived on the streets of various eastern U.S. cities until he was jailed in February 1946, where, a year later, he began his self-education program. He first learned about the NoI from his brother in about April 1948 and joined it later that year. Three weeks after his release from jail in 1952, he met Elijah Muhammad, the NoI leader, and commemorated his new identity by throwing off his "slave name" in favor of Malcolm X.

From 1953 on, he devoted himself full time to building the Nation. In an eye-opening experience, he traveled to the Middle East in 1959, after which he began to adopt normative Islamic practices and become more critical of NoI, eventually changing his name to El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz and then breaking with the NoI in March 1964, when he started a new movement, the Muslim Mosque, Inc. He went on the hajj to Mecca a month later, followed by other Middle Eastern and African travels. Outraged by what he perceived as Malcolm X's treachery, Elijah Muhammad had him murdered on February 21, 1965, apparently under the supervision of Louis Farrakhan. Were he still alive, Malcolm X would be approaching his 90th birthday.

http://www.danielpipes.org/pics/new/large/1372.jpg" border="0" />

A 1999 postage stamps in his honor symbolizes the establishment's acceptance of Malcolm X (1925-65).

What to make of the Malcolm X legacy on this 50th anniversary? He was a quick study, a natural politician, and a powerful orator, as well as a highly original political figure, He played a major role both in the large-scale conversion of African-Americans to Islam in both its NoI and normative variants (his Autobiography continues to be cited as a major inspiration for becoming Muslim), and to the development of black nationalism, a milder form of his preferred solution that blacks withdraw from the United States and form their own country.

His presence remains alive; and thanks to Spike Lee's movie about him, a U.S. postal stamp in his honor, and other signs of mainstream acceptance, he has become a somewhat anodyne figure. Here's how NBC News characterized him today, on the anniversary: "By the time he died, the Muslim leader had moderated his militant message of black separatism and pride but was still very much a passionate advocate of black unity, self-respect and self-reliance."

http://www.danielpipes.org/pics/new/large/3076.jpg" border="0" />
Spike Lee's movie built the Malcolm X myth.

But Malcolm X was anything but mainstream and the passage of a half century should not soften attitudes toward him. To the end, he remained a radical, polarizing, bigoted figure, Martin Luther King's evil Doppelgänger. To support this description, recall two notorious statements. The first dates from Dec. 1, 1963, shortly after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, when Malcolm X responded with the comment that, "Being an old farm boy myself, chickens coming home to roost never did make me sad; they've always made me glad."

The second came in the course of a meeting with the Ku Klux Klan (itself a insight into his extremism) intended to win white racist support for the NoI black separatism project. According to a FBI report, Malcolm X assured the Klansmen that Jews were behind the integration movement they both despised. Joshua Muravchik concludes from this incident that Malcolm X "was a vociferous anti-Semite in both public and in private."

Malcolm X should accurately be remembered as the extremist he was. (February 21, 2015)
