MSNBC's Chuck Todd: Our Rights Don't Come From God!

Very wrong talking points, at that. Following Roy Moore’s win over incumbent Sen. Luther Strange, Todd launched into a screed against Moore, who publicly stated, “Our rights don’t come from government, they don’t come from the Bill of Rights, they come from Almighty God.”

          Todd says of this statement: “He doesn’t appear to believe in the Constitution as it’s written.” For the record, it’s Todd who doesn’t believe in the Constitution as written (to be fair, he’s probably also never bothered to look at our founding documents). The Declaration of Independence quite clearly proclaims: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
          Todd’s assertion that Moore “doesn’t appear to believe in the Constitution as it’s written” is in line with the views held by the liberal justices of the Supreme Court. They believe, wrongly, in a “living constitution” — meaning rights aren’t ironclad or inherent. In leftists’ eyes, the government is the facilitator and enforcer of whatever rights it (or jurists) deems citizens are entitled to. Which is totally against what the Founders rightly understood — that we are “are endowed by [our] Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”
          As Mark Alexander has written: “The eternal assertion that Liberty for all people is ‘endowed by their Creator’ and is thus ‘unalienable’ should require no defense, because ‘we hold these truths to be self-evident,’ and because the rights of man are irrevocable from the ‘Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.’”
          Furthermore, he noted, “Recall that our Declaration’s signers were not of one mind on matters of theology and doctrine. They were Christians, Deists and Agnostics, but they did, however, uniformly declare that the Rights of all people were, are and forever will be innate and unalienable, as established by ‘the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.’ This is not an article of ‘faith.’ It is the assertion that the right to ‘Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,’ while enshrined in our Declaration, is inherent and applicable to all humans of every nation, religion, race and ethnicity, for all time.

You would think that if the United States was actually racist and if Donald Trump was the least little bit reminiscent of Adolph Hitler, everyone who could flee would flee, especially when escape is as near as Canada and Mexico. And yet even millionaires and billionaires who could easily set up housekeeping in Monaco, Switzerland or the Cayman Islands, if only to be closer to their money, all seem to prefer sticking around and whining.

If asked why, I suspect they would say something self-serving and pompous about wanting to help turn the nation around. Funny, though, how none of the millions of people who fled Nazi Germany thought it was a good idea to hang around Berlin and hope for the best. It does make you think that the Never-Trumpers don’t mean most of the things they say, and, as you may have noticed, say them in very loud voices.

It’s annoying when the rabble-rousers in the black community promote the lie that Michael Brown was an innocent kid with his arms raised when he was shot by a white cop, but has there ever been a time when more privileged characters have portrayed themselves as victims of oppression? Famous movie stars, singers and professional athletes, would have us believe they’re just seconds away from being swept up by Trump’s Gestapo and carted off to gulags and concentration camps.

And how is it that the poor folks who fill the membership rosters of Antifa and the BLM seem to have no trouble flying at a moment’s notice from one end of the country to the other in order to break things and set fires?

● On the other hand, what exactly was Trump talking about when he kept promising to drain the swamp? I mean, it’s not as if he had the constitutional authority to fire Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, RINO-John McCain, RINO-Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul and RINO-Susan Collins. And inasmuch as he’s shown no desire to have Jeff Sessions engage a special prosecutor to go after liar-Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, Samantha Power, Lois Lerner, Ben Rhodes or the ogre with the checkbook who funds most of the street and campus violence in America, George “Daddy Warbucks” Soros, the swamp is just as full of crocodiles, snakes and toads, today as it was last January.

● I was disappointed to see that Angela Merkel was re-elected Germany’s chancellor, but not surprised to find her opponent labeled a fascist. Even if a European politician is to the left of Bernie Sanders on social issues, if he lets it be known he believes the influx of Muslim immigrants is bad for Germany, France, Italy or England, he is certain to be libeled in the liberal press, which is just about the only press that exists in the western world.

One’s dedication to Muslims has become a litmus test for politicians in the very nations that Muslims most despise. Let Muslims call someone an infidel and threaten to behead him and those on the Left turn into cheerleaders. Let Iranian mullahs threaten to nuke Tel Aviv, and college students and professors on campuses all across our nation will toss confetti in the air.

I know that our prior two presidents couldn’t say enough nice things about Muslims, but a recent poll showed that half of all British Muslims, most of whom are British citizens, would imprison gays, a third support polygamy and 20% would replace British law with Shariah. But they nevertheless have a friend and ally in Prime Minister Teresa May, who has a hissy fit if someone even suggests that instead of Scotland Yard merely keeping an eye on jihadists, it might be a better idea to arrest and deport them.

Meanwhile, in France, 83% of young Muslims insist their faith is important or very important to them, while only 22% of young French Catholics say the same about their own religion.

Is it any wonder that the College of Cardinals felt compelled to go outside the continent to find their latest pope?

● It seems that the worse that some people behave, the happier the useful idiots are. Who would have believed that in just a few short years, we in America would go from seeing some people boo Tim Tebow for kneeling in prayer at a football game to defending black prima donnas for taking a knee during the National Anthem?

You do have to wonder what marketing playbook the NFL is using when Commissioner Goodell throws a penalty flag on the President for suggesting that the teams start firing players who express their disrespect for the nation, and when Shahid Khan, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars then joins his players in giving the finger to America.

It would probably mean a lot more coming from someone who was actually a football fan, but I would like to shake the hand of Clark Hunt, who owns the Kansas City Chiefs.

Apparently, he called a team meeting with players and coaches, and explained: “You are all simply paid performers on a stage, and that field is my stage. You will stand, with your hand over your heart and with respect, when our Country’s National Anthem is being played or you will no longer be a Kansas City Chief, a Coach for the Kansas City Chiefs or have any association with the Chiefs Organization. I will immediately fire you, no matter who you are! You can make political statements off the field, but when you’re employed by me and I’m signing your check, I demand that you make our fans proud and not embarrass them.”

● I recently wondered in an article how it was that we went from hurricanes named in alphabetical order Harvey, Irma and Jose, jumped over the letters K and L, and landed on Maria.

I had no idea how many amateur meteorologists I had on my subscription list, but several of you did yourselves proud. So, thanks especially to Bert Black and Elaine Kitchel, but perhaps because he’s an airline pilot and has to deal with weather on a regular basis, Kit Duncan, the pride of Tulsa, Oklahoma, supplied the most details.

Mr. Duncan explained: “Once a tropical depression becomes a tropical storm, it receives a name. The World Meteorological Organization names storms now, having taken over from the U.S. Hurricane Center a number of years ago.  Twenty-one letters of the alphabet are used, with QUXYZ being skipped because there are so few names to pick from.  If we have more than 21 storms in a season, the Greek alphabet is used, beginning with Alpha. The name lists rotate every seven years with particularly devastating storms having their name retired and replaced.

“So far, 81 names have been retired, but I’m betting at least three more will be retired after this year, and hurricane season isn’t over yet.

“Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Franklin and Gert, were named storms before Harvey. The first five only reached tropical storm strength with Emily causing some damage in the Caribbean. Franklin was the first to reach hurricane strength striking Vera Cruz, Mexico, as a category 1.

“Gert made category 2 strength and passed between the east coast of the U.S. and Bermuda on its way north. Then came Harvey and the first major hurricane in the U.S. since Wilma in 2005.

“As for K and L, Katia formed in the Gulf of Mexico, but, unlike Harvey, it thankfully followed a different path and struck in a sparsely populated area of eastern Mexico as a category 1 hurricane.

“Lee spun up in the eastern Atlantic and has remained nearly stationary as a strong tropical storm, while Maria formed and quickly passed it and wreaked devastation on Puerto Rico and other islands in the Caribbean.”

● Because so many black Americans have been behaving so atrociously lately, I have had them very much on my mind. When you realize how good millions of blacks have it, despite the fact they tend to turn their collective back on education; commit violent crimes at a clip that would make you think they represented 50% of the population instead of a scant 13%; and apparently feel no shame about a 70% illegitimate birth rate that guarantees more of the same in the future.

Instead of electing the same race hustling con artists to be their mayors and members of Congress, they should be electing someone like Toya Graham, the woman who became a national heroine when, after spotting her 16-year-old son on TV wearing a hoodie and hurling rocks at the Baltimore cops, ran down the street, slapped him upside his head and dragged his sorry ass back to their apartment.

Instead, they elect the likes of Mad-Maxine Waters. When I saw that ignoramus the other night bragging about how she will never stop calling for the impeachment of 45, as she refers to President Trump, it occurred to me that the only difference between her and a typical black streetwalker is 50 years and $25 million.

It also occurred to me that thanks to our perverted welfare system, it’s the rest of us taxpaying suckers who are forced to pick up the slack for irresponsible black men and pay alimony and child support to equally irresponsible black women.

I’m old enough to remember when people would snicker about India’s sacred cows, who, because of their hallowed place in Hindu mythology, were free to wander around and defecate wherever they wished.

We have our own sacred creatures these days, but unlike those with four feet and a tail, ours have either snuck across the border, prostate themselves five times a day to Allah or pretend they are still spending their time in the sunbaked fields of Dixie, picking cotton.
