Devin Nunes: Without jail time for Russia probe
'dirty cops', no Republican will trust
DOJ for ‘generations'
By Sam Dorman
{foxnews.com} ~ House Intelligence Committee ranking member Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said there will be massive political consequences... if Justice Department officials don't  face jail time for their conduct during the Russia investigation. According to Nunes, the Russia investigation was an "obstruction of justice trap," that started without evidence of collusion and ended in an "awful situation" that could only be fixed by jailing the people who "perpetuated this hoax." "These are all a bunch of dirty cops and I'll tell you," he told Fox News' Bill Hemmer on the latest "Hemmer Time" podcast. "We're going to go down in a spiral in this country because you will not have a Republican that will trust the FBI or the Department of Justice for generations to come." Nunes  specifically mentioned Andrew Weissman, one of the Mueller team's top prosecutors who briefed AP reporters in 2017, before Mueller's team was assembled, on "something to do with the Trump-Russia investigation."  Authorities, Nunes said, hid that fact from his committee -- something he said was inappropriate given that Weissman was briefed on the Steele dossier in the summer of 2016. At Mueller's hearing, Nunes plans to ask him whether he knew that Weissmann had been briefed on the dossier. Weissmann's early involvement with the chain of custody, according to legal advice Nunes received, effectively disqualified him from serving on Mueller's team. Nunes' comments came before former Special Counsel Robert Mueller was scheduled to testify on July 17 before the House Judiciary Committee -- a hearing Nunes suspected Democrats hoped would include "nasty" comments making President Trump "look bad." That date, according to sources, could have been pushed back to July 24, although committee Democrats have maintained the hearing would take place on July 17.  While the committee's chair, Rep. scumbag liar-Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., joined other Democrats in continuing to pursue the Mueller report's findings, Republicans have attempted to refocus the debate on accountability for what Nunes described as "dirty cops."...

Acosta's Resignation May Result
in More Losses for Prosecutors
by Alan M. Dershowitz
gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ The forced resignation of Alex Acosta based on the plea deal that he made with Jeffrey Epstein's lawyers of which I was one may have serious unintended effects on our system of criminal justice... The criticism of Acosta -- whether warranted or not -- for making the deal will cause other prosecutors to go to trial in relatively weak cases in which the chances of losing are considerable. The deal accepted by Acosta was based on the weakness of the government's federal case. In order for sex with underage persons to be prosecuted federally, as distinguished from prosecution by a state, there has to be compelling evidence of an interstate nexus. Merely having sex with underage females in a local context does not constitute a federal crime. In the Epstein case, this would have required credible testimony or documentary evidence proving transportation of underage females in interstate commerce, or the use of interstate communications such as telephone calls, emails, or the wiring of funds. There was scant evidence of such an interstate nexus in the Epstein case at the time the deal was made. Perhaps there is more now, but that remains to be seen. At the time the deal was made, there was a relatively strong state case in Palm Beach County, but the federal case was chancy, as Acosta said in his statement. A judge might have dismissed the case or a jury may have found against the government. Instead of taking the chance of losing the case, Acosta did what many prosecutors do: they compromise based on the relative strength of the prosecution and the defense. The compromise in this case was worked out by Acosta's assistants and then approved by Acosta and higher-ups in the justice department. There were few red flags at the time, but with the benefit of hindsight, Monday morning quarterbacks have piled on Acosta. This article, however, is not about Acosta. I hold no brief for him. This is about the impact of Acosta's forced resignation on current and future prosecutors. Consider the situation of a prosecutor today or tomorrow who has a weak federal case involving sexual allegations. He has two options: the first is he can try to make a deal based on the relative strength of his case and of the defense case. But if he makes that deal, he risks criticism for being too soft on sex offenders. His second option is to take the weak case to trial and risk losing. But even if he loses, the risks to him personally are less great because he can blame the loss on the judge or the jury. A deal, on the other hand, is totally attributed to the prosecutor, as evidenced by the Acosta resignation. So, a simple cost-benefit analysis will incline a prosecutor to litigate rather than settle...  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14536/epstein-acosta-resignation

commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a 'complete fraud' say frustrated and offended...Democrats
by CALEB HOWE
theblaze.com } ~ Freshman Democrat commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came to Washington to chew gum and make friends. And she's all out of... well, friends, it seems... Actually maybe she came to D.C. to chew the scenery, because her scene-stealing act gets cornier and more over the top every day. Which is maybe why those "Friends" of hers -- you know, her own party -- think she's a fraud. That's the word from a new report by Fox News after a week or two of seemingly endless scuffles and controversies caused by the precocious youngster, including a very public fight between her chief of staff and the House Democrats official Twitter feed. The battle has been brewing for months as commie-AOC and her three fellow first-years have become increasingly radical in rhetoric, not just about Republicans or Trump but about establishment Democrats like Speaker liar-Nancy Pulosi, Majority Leader scumbag-Steny Hoyer, and basically the long-time caucus leaders. This is not a minor fight over policy, either. Despite attempts to downplay when confronted, it's a fairly direct assault. commie-AOC has tried to have her cake and eat it, too, downplaying the fight as a creation of Republicans who don't understand diversity of opinion in one's party. But apparently fellow Democrats aren't so easily fooled. Or mollified. "She is a complete fraud," said a "senior" Democratic source to Fox News for their report...

Doha agreement paves the way for Taliban’s
takeover of Afghanistan and
imposition of Sharia
By ROBERT SPENCER
jihadwatch.org } ~ What have we been fighting for all those years? Why are we still there now? There must be some better way to counter the Taliban than to sign over the country to them or keep American troops there in an endless war without a goal or end point... At the July 7-8 talks in Doha, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban organization), backed by Qatar and the U.S., emerged victorious, extracting major advantages from Afghan delegates and the international community. A key Taliban advantage was that they held on to the Islamic Emirate’s long-standing position of not recognizing the elected government of Afghanistan as a legitimate entity. While the Afghan delegates, including those from the government, were forced to attend the talks in their personal capacity, the Taliban representatives came to the table as the Taliban. As per a statement issued by Qatar, Dr. Mutlaq bin Majid Al-Qahtani, the Qatari Special Envoy for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution, announced the “success” of the talks, stating: “We are very pleased today to reach a joint statement as a first step to peace.” The “success” and the “first step to peace” which Al-Qahtani spoke of belong to the Taliban and shari’a, not to the democratic government in Kabul, not to Afghan women who suffered under the Taliban’s shari’a rule during the 1990s, and not to common Afghans whose civil liberties are at stake in Doha. The Afghan Taliban – as a result of the Doha talks which were sponsored jointly by Qatar and Germany – marched closer to their stated objectives of enforcing Islamic shari’a rule in Afghanistan and of restructuring the Afghan government institutions, including the military, to their liking. As discussed below, the Taliban’s realization of their objectives at the Doha talks are clearly seen in four versions of the so-called joint statement agreed to, perhaps under the U.S. pressure, by the Afghan delegates...

Power Outage in New York – Dramatic
Media – Rest of Country ‘Meh’
By James Barron and Mihir Zaveri
nytimes.com } ~ Fox News talking hair Leland Vitter uses his best dramatic voice, channels his inner Shep, and proclaims the end of the known universe is nigh... because the power went out in a part of Manhattan, New York City.  Evacuations, crisis, no stoplights… oh, my. OMG… “pitch black”, it’s the beginning of the zombie apocalypse or something, only this time they’re bringing hashtags! A power failure struck the West Side of Manhattan on Saturday evening, plunging subway stations into darkness, stalling trains, stranding people in elevators and for a time leaving parts of Times Square without its customary bright lights. Con Edison said that about 42,000 customers were without power, mainly on the West Side. The Fire Department said the failures stretched from 72nd Street to the West 40s, and from Fifth Avenue to the Hudson River. “Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated restoration at this time,” Con Edison said. “Our crews are working as quickly and safely as they can to restore service.” The New York City Council speaker, Corey Johnson, said on Twitter that there had been a “major disturbance” at Con Edison’s 49th Street substation, and that the utility was working to fix it. He said the A, C, F, D and M subway lines were affected...

Hungary's Sound Immigration Policy

Cal Thomas

Two summers ago on a visit to Budapest, I asked the spokesman for the Hungarian government about the growing problem of migrants coming into Europe. He told me Hungary doesn’t have a migrant problem because they don’t have welfare programs. So, he said, migrants continue their travels to other European countries that do.

That’s not the end of it, though. Hungary has created programs to help migrants stay in their own countries so they won’t feel the need to flee to Europe. It is a model the U.S. should consider adopting beyond dwindling and often misdirected foreign aid.

The government calls it “Hungary Helps Project.” It delivers aid directly to places affected by conflict, the driving force behind most migration. The assistance does not go through corrupt governments, but to churches and charities more easily monitored, who presumably have good motives.

It seems far less expensive and more politically advantageous than the floodtide threatening the unity and character of European nations and increasingly the United States.

The government says in just two years the program has helped 35,000 people to stay home. These include persecuted Christians, who are often ignored by governments and the media. In Nigeria, where thousands of persecuted Christians have been murdered, Hungary has provided 1 million euro ($1.2 million USD) to the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri. The money is being used to aid in the country’s educational and health infrastructure, which have been damaged by repeated attacks from the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

An additional 500,000 euro (about $560,000 USD) has gone to social rehabilitation programs administered by Christ in Nations, which helps refugees return to their homes ravaged by the extremist group. It also supports agricultural efforts designed to improve the self-sufficiency of households, eliminate food shortages and treat diseases.

In the misnamed Democratic Republic of the Congo (because it is neither democratic, nor a republic), Hungarian aid totaling 1 million euro has been targeted for an eye clinic run by the Brother Richard Foundation for the Sick. An estimated 10,000 patients receive direct help, but because of the lack of good health care, the clinic’s practice extends to 8 million people.

Ethiopia is another African nation receiving Hungarian aid. In a spirit of ecumenism, not only Catholic services receive funds; so does the Ethiopian Evangelical Church. The Mai-Aini refugee camp has been provided with 1.5 million euro (about $1.6 million USD) to offer shelter and basic services, including clean water, education and support services for about 15,000 Eritrean refugees. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Addis-Ababa has also received 500,000 euros in support.

Tristan Azbej is Hungary’s state secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians. In an article for the About Hungary website, he writes: “During the peak of the migration crisis in 2015, the Orban Government was widely criticized by international actors for taking a firm stance (against undocumented aliens). Among those voices, some said that Hungary was acting heartlessly. Our approach is simple: To provide an alternative to the exploitation of human traffickers and manipulation of pro-migration NGOs, we are doing everything in our capacity to enable those in need to stay in their homelands. In the words of Prime Minister Orban: ‘Trouble should not be brought here, but assistance must be taken to where it is needed.’ And that’s exactly what we endeavor to do.”

The Western media and liberal politicians have denounced the prime minister as a far-right ideologue, but this program appears to be working. Most people might think it a more sensible approach to the wave of humanity flooding Europe and increasingly the U.S., burdening services and resources.

Again, it has the added benefit of saving money, which ought to interest everyone.  ~The Patriot Post

New York's Green Light Law - Allows Illegal Aliens To Get Driver’s Licenses

New York passed a law to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses earlier this year but it was held up by challenges.

Now it is set to take effect this week.

In typical leftist fashion, supporters claim this is going to somehow make New York’s roads safer for everyone.

Could it really be about voting?

FOX News reports:

Illegal immigrants to be able to get driver’s licenses in NY after legal challenge fails.

Illegal immigrants in New York will able to obtain driver’s licenses starting next week after a last-minute legal challenge was dismissed — making it the 13th state to allow the practice, but one that critics say is unconstitutional.

The Green Light Law, signed by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo earlier this year, allows anyone to apply for a driver’s license regardless of immigration status and does not require a Social Security number.

Illegal immigrants can use a combination of documents that include a valid passport from a foreign country and a valid foreign driver’s license, as long as it has been expired for less than two years.

“After waiting 18 years to have their right to drive restored, thanks to our legislature, New York can now officially join 12 other states in making driver’s licenses legally available to all residents,” New York Immigration Coalition Executive Director Steve Choi said in a statement this week, arguing that it will make roads safer and the economy stronger.

County clerks in New York have concerns and are sounding an alarm.

CBS News in Albany reports:

County clerks concerned by loopholes in Green Light law.

Undocumented immigrants now have the green light to get a driver’s license in New York…but several county clerks in the Capital Region are concerned.

Saratoga County Clerk Craig Hayner said, “We found that everything we were concerned about as far as fraud and all sorts of other things are in that bill, in that regulation and we’re very concerned.”

Hayner tells CBS6’s Lynsey Smith there are a few loopholes in the Green Light Law.

Loopholes, such as a person coming in to get their license and not having to provide their social security number.

“That could lead to criminals coming from other states, coming in and use that as a way to defraud by just simply saying they don’t have a social security number…and that’s a very dangerous loophole,” replied Hayner.

Does anyone believe this is going to make New York safer or that this is really about driving?
