Outbreak Hits Europe, 12 Towns

{ westernjournal.com } ~ A dozen Italian towns have gone into lockdown Saturday after a growing cluster of coronavirus cases were detected and two people infected with the disease died... Authorities in the Lombardy and Veneto regions closed schools, businesses and restaurants in response to the outbreak, The Associated Press reported. Scheduled sporting events and church services were also canceled. Attilio Fontana, the president of Lombardy, said there were 39 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the region and 10 towns were ordered to suspend “nonessential” activities. A 77-year-old woman in the region tested positive for the virus after her death, but it is not yet known whether the virus was the cause of death. None of the infected people in Lombardy have visited China, but at least 15 of them are believed to have frequented the same bar and had the same group of friends, according to the New York Post. It is believed that the first man who was infected with the virus in Lombardy met with a friend who had visited China. These cases in Lombardy are the first known cases of local transmission in Italy. According to Veneto regional president Luca Zaia, 12 people in the region have been infected with the virus, two of whom are confirmed relatives of a 78-year-old man who died with the infection on Friday. The man was from a small town 30 miles southeast of Padua and was hospitalized for two weeks prior to his death, the Post reported. Zaia said that the local transmissions in the small town show that the virus is spread just like any flu. “You can get it from anyone,” he said, according to the AP. “We can expect to have cases of patients who had no contact” with people suspected of carrying the disease or with links to China. While contagious, the virus is only particularly lethal for the elderly or people with existing medical conditions...

Trump told reporters Sunday that he had not been briefed on the interference effort aimed at disrupting the Democratic presidential primary process but claimed without evidence that scumbag/liar-Schiff was responsible for making the information public. “I read where Russia’s helping commie-Bernie Sanders. Nobody said it to me at all. Nobody briefed me about that at all,” he said, later adding, “scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff and his group, they leaked it to the papers. As usual, they ought to investigate scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff for leaking that information. He should not be leaking information out of intelligence. They ought to investigate scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff.” Trump pleading ignorance conflicts with a Washington Post report last week that said the president and lawmakers on Capitol Hill had been briefed about Russia’s efforts to help commie-Sanders. “I don’t care, frankly, who Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to be president,” commie-Sanders, who is the front-runner in the Democratic primary, said in a statement Friday. “My message to Putin is clear: Stay out of American elections, and as president, I will make sure that you do.” Reports also circulated last week that the Kremlin is meddling in the election to the benefit of Trump, which the president and members of his national security team have denied.

Israel to ban entry to foreigners

by timesofisrael.com ~ Starting Monday, Israel will ban all foreign nationals who have been to South Korea and Japan in the past 14 days from entering the country, over concerns they could spread the COVID-19 coronavirus... the Health Ministry said Sunday. Interior Minister Aryeh Deri was set to sign an order to that effect later in the day. Israel is already denying entry to visitors from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand and Singapore, and is apparently the only country to have taken such drastic steps so far to contain the virus. The Health Ministry also said any Israelis returning from Italy, Australia and Taiwan who develop symptoms of illness must be examined according to procedures detailed on its website. The office of President Reuven Rivlin, who is currently on an official visit to Australia, subsequently said it was “not expected to change the visit’s planned schedule.” It added that the director-general of the President’s Residence was in touch with the Health Ministry director general on the subject “and we will update on any change that is necessary.” A South Korean airliner that landed at Ben Gurion Airport Saturday evening was sent back to Seoul after the 12 Israelis on board were evacuated and quarantined. South Korea registered a strong protest with the Israeli government over the incident...

On Friday, The New York Times dredged up the three-year-old hoax of “Trump-Russia collusion” in a story citing “intelligence officials” who said that Vlad Putin is going all-in for President Trump this year again. Former special counsel Robert Mueller did not make a lot of things clear in his report following his 18-month ‘investigation’ except this one thing: Mother Russia did not “collude” with the 2016 Trump campaign to ‘steal the election from scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton.’ No evidence of that was found by his team of very partisan scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton donors. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada. And why? Because the allegation was a fabrication to begin with. A myth. A hoax. A deep state lie designed to entangle President Trump in scandal and undermine his presidency, with the ultimate objective of driving him from office. So why does the New York Times continue to regurgitate this lie? Well, of course, the answer is obvious: The paper has been in on the hoax from the outset and, with a lot of help from CNN, the Washington Post, and other “mainstream” media outlets has managed to convince a plurality of Americans that the lie is true. Almost immediately, the Times story was attacked as inaccurate. As Red State reported: Even CNN’s Jake Tapper called it out in his reporting, citing a national security official source who he knew and trusted. The classified briefing happened last Thursday and was conducted by Shelby Pierson, the Intelligence Community election threats executive under the acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire. “What’s been articulated in the news is that the intelligence community has concluded that the Russians are trying to help Trump again. But the intelligence doesn’t say that,” Tapper’s source said. “The problem is Shelby said they developed a preference for Trump. A more reasonable interpretation of the intelligence is not that they have a preference, it’s a step short of that.” The source added that “it’s more that they understand the president is someone they can work with, he’s a dealmaker. But not that they prefer him over” his Democratic opponents. “So it may have been mischaracterized by Shelby.”...

Another Bogus 'Russian Interference' Intel ReportNate Jackson: Bolshevik commie-Bernie Sanders must be laughing all the way to the Gosbank and the Democrat National Convention. The Leftmedia is awash today with stories that Russia is at it again. The New York Times broke the story: “Intelligence officials warned House lawmakers last week that Russia was interfering in the 2020 campaign to try to get President Trump re-elected.”
We’ve seen this pathetic movie before, so there’s no need in rehashing how Democrats and their Leftmedia super PAC seized on phony allegations that Trump “colluded” with Russia to defeat scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton in 2016. They spent nearly three years yammering about it only to finally be distracted by the Ukraine fiasco. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some aspects of this story that deserve a refresher.
First of all, this isn’t new. As Mark Alexander argues, “Russia has strived to interfere with American elections since the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 and the rise of the Soviet communists. The only thing new about this ‘interference’ is that it has been, and remains, fodder for the Left to undermine Trump’s presidency. The irony is, leftists and their Leftmedia propagandists are, as they were in 2016, backing a communist who they hope will defeat Trump.”
Anyone remember when Ted Kennedy requested Soviet interference to help defeat Ronald Reagan in the 1984 election? The New York Times doesn’t, because that inconvenient history doesn’t help Democrats now.
Today’s news follows the same template used in 2017. As the Times reminds us, “The intelligence community issued an assessment in early 2017 that President Vladimir V. Putin personally ordered a campaign of influence in the previous year’s election and developed ‘a clear preference for President-elect Trump.’ But Republicans have long argued that Moscow’s campaign was intended to sow chaos, not aid Mr. Trump specifically.”
Republicans were exactly right. Besides, Trump has been tough on Russia throughout his presidency, and his work to bolster U.S. energy production (especially via fracking), strengthen NATO, and stabilize Europe and the Middle East are directly counter to Putin’s objectives. The idea that Putin truly prefers Trump over Sanders or any other Democrat is ludicrous.
Moreover, Moscow generally interferes in a way that supports the expected loser in order to undermine the eventual winner. Given that everyone thought scumbag/liar-Clinton was going to win in 2016, that left the Russians with the obvious choice of “backing” Trump. Their objective succeeded beyond Putin’s wildest dreams, as Democrats aided him in peddling the narrative that American election integrity was compromised and a duly elected president was somehow corrupt, even going so far as to impeach that president. Putin got four years of chaos out of a few Facebook ads. Of course he’s going to run that same play (with necessary operational tweaks), and Democrats, the Leftmedia, and apparently some deep-state intelligence officials are all too eager to help him.
One final history lesson: Barack scumbag/liar-nObama’s administration was well aware of Russian efforts to interfere all throughout 2016, yet scumbag/liar-nObama and his cadre of deep-staters said and did nothing to stop it, in part because it was so ineffectual but primarily because they didn’t want to taint Clinton’s supposedly certain victory. Only when Trump shocked the world by winning did scumbag/liar-nObama’s gang decide to turn this “crisis” into an opportunity to undermine the incoming president with the Russia-collusion hoax.
After last week’s report to Congress, Trump removed acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire and chose German ambassador Richard Grenell to take his place. It’s part of a general and much-needed house cleaning after Trump’s impeachment and acquittal. Nevertheless, the Democrats’ 2020 playbook is now evident. ~The Patriot Post
