Trump's Legal Team Files Lengthy Brief Calling Impeachment Articles 'an Affront
to the Constitution'

{ westernjournal.com } ~ President Donald Trump’s legal team filed a lengthy legal brief with the Senate on Monday... calling the House Democrats’ impeachment effort an “affront to the Constitution” that should be rejected on its face. Trump’s 110-page legal brief highlights that the House voted to impeach the president without alleging any criminal conduct. Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution provides that the president “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” The House passed two articles of impeachment last month, claiming first that Trump abused the powers of his office by asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in July to look into former Vice President loose lips liar-Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine. The second article alleges that Trump obstructed Congress by not providing all the documents and witnesses requested by various congressional committees looking into the matter. “The Articles of Impeachment now before the Senate are an affront to the Constitution and to our democratic institutions,” the opening of the Trump legal brief reads. “The Articles themselves — and the rigged process that brought them here — are a brazenly political act by House Democrats that must be rejected.” “House Democrats’ novel conception of ‘abuse of power’ as a supposedly impeachable offense is constitutionally defective. It supplants the Framers’ standard of ‘high Crimes and Misdemeanors.'” The brief includes a robust defense of Trump’s right as commander in chief to inquire about alleged corruption in Ukraine, including potentially that involving the loose lips liar-Bidens, before directing the release of military aid to Zelensky’s government in September. While serving as vice president, loose lips liar-Biden demanded in March 2016 that a Ukrainian prosecutor who was overseeing an investigation into the natural gas firm Burisma Holdings be fired, or the country’s government would not receive a $1 billion loan guaranteed by the United States.“House Democrats’ accusations rest on the false and dangerous premise that Vice President loose lips liar-Biden somehow immunized his conduct and his son’s from any scrutiny by declaring his run for the presidency,” the president’s lawyers wrote. “There is no such rule of law. { dailycaller.com } ~ The government’s key witness in the trial of Roger Stone implored a federal judge Tuesday to spare the longtime Republican operative of jail time when he is sentenced next month... “I am writing to respectfully yet fervently implore you not to send Roger Stone to prison when he is sentenced before your Honor,” Randy Credico wrote to Judge Amy Berman Jackson in a letter reported by Yahoo! News. A jury in Washington, D.C., convicted Stone on Nov. 15 of charges that he made false statements to the House Intelligence Committee about his contacts with associates regarding WikiLeaks. He was also convicted on a more serious count of witness intimidation. Prosecutors successfully argued that Stone attempted to intimidate Credico into pleading the Fifth instead of testifying before the House intelligence panel. Prosecutors cited text messages that Stone sent Credico on April 9, 2018 in which he said he would take Credico’s dog, Bianca, from him. Stone also wrote “prepare to die cocksucker” to Credico during the spat. Stone and Credico battled publicly throughout 2018 over Stone’s claim that his longtime frenemy was a source of information about WikiLeaks’ plans to release information about the scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton campaign. Stone has long maintained that Credico gave him tips about the timing of WikiLeaks’ releases of scumbag/liar-Clinton information. He’s the congressman who lied about having evidence that President Trump colluded with the Russians, Should we now believe that the man who tried to purchase naked pictures of the President didn’t tell the truth about the Lev Parnas texts to Rudy Guiliani that dominated a few news cycles last week? Well yes according to Politico. The issue arose when scumbag/liar-Schiff (D-Calif.) sent a letter to House Judiciary Chairman scumbag liar-Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) last week summarizing a trove of evidence from Lev Parnas, an indicted former associate of Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. In one section of the letter, scumbag/liar-Schiff claims that Parnas “continued to try to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky,” citing a specific text message exchange where Parnas tells Giuliani: “trying to get us mr Z.” The remainder of the exchange — which was attached to scumbag/liar-Schiff’s letter — was redacted. Politico got a copy of the unredacted version. Latest: Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren: I’m Going to Create a DOJ Task Force to Investigate Trump. But an unredacted version of the exchange shows that several days later, Parnas sent Giuliani a word document that appears to show notes from an interview with Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder of Burisma, followed by a text message to Giuliani that states: “mr Z answers my brother.” That suggests Parnas was referring to Zlochevsky not Zelensky. I know what you are thinking– all people whose last names begin with a “Z: look alike. Politico spoke to a “Democratic official working on the impeachment trial didn’t dispute the suggestion that the initial interpretation was incorrect.” “The most charitable view of the situation is that scumbag/liar-Schiff’s staff committed the equivalent of Congressional malpractice by not looking more than an inch deep to determine the facts before foisting this erroneous information on his colleagues and the American public,” said one senior GOP aide. “But given the selective redactions and contextual clues, it seems as though Chairman scumbag/liar-Schiff sought to portray an innocuous meeting with Ukrainian oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky as an insidious one with the President of Ukraine simply because both of their surnames start with the letter Z.”... https://lidblog.com/adam-schiff-purposely-misled/ .
Democratic fumble or touchdown?

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ The big game is here at last. Yes, the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, but also the trial of President Trump. His relentless harassers, the Democrats... have marched the ball halfway down the field with the House impeachment vote and are now trying a Hail Mary pass into the Senate end zone. Republicans are blocking and tackling, and on this final play, they will bat the ball away so it falls harmlessly to the ground. Sound exciting? It should. But as anyone who has tuned into Senate proceedings in recent days can tell you, it isn't. Tedium is what people most notice. Check out social media. Here's a passage from a Jan. 21 story on Nate Silver's website, FiveThirtyEight: "The whole process feels a bit like having peeked at the last few pages of a book: We don’t know exactly how the plot will unfold, but we already know where it will end." Silver, who started out analyzing baseball statistics, recognized that sport and politics are similar and adapted his techniques from one to the other. But Trump's impeachment needs no analysis. His acquittal has never been in doubt. Politics can be exciting, but as with sports, it works only when the outcome is uncertain. That's why elections make for good TV. When pundits are asked who'll win, the true answer is, "I don't know." No one ever really does. If we learned anything in 2016, it was that. If you know the outcome in advance, it isn't a real election. Just ask the 99%-100% who voted for Saddam Hussein or Kim Jong Un. Trump could win a second term this November — a lot of people hope or fear he will — but it's far from certain. For my part, I can't rule out the possibility that loose lips liar-Joe Biden, Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders, or Sen. Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren might beat him. Nor do I absolutely dismiss the chances of Pete Buttigieg or Sen. Amy Klobuchar, although their odds are longer. It's a stretch to compare septuagenarian presidential contenders to the dynamic Chiefs and 49ers. But as we get toward November, the election will have a Super Bowl feel. The tension is building now, as the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary hove into view. It wouldn't be like that if it was already obvious who'd be lifting the political Lombardi Trophy. Have you ever replayed a football game on video because the live clash was so exciting? It can be entertaining, like those viral videos of Democrats' crumbling confidence on election night 2016. But it certainly isn't suspenseful. Every twist or turn, touchdown or interception, is drained of doubt. It's a shadow of its former self... E. coli levels at beaches are supposed to be at 88 or below, and anything over 1,000 is supposed to lead to a beach closure. At 500, there’s a 10% chance of gastroenteritis and a 4% risk of febrile respiratory disease. But at Discovery Park, the numbers went as high as 2419.6 in December 2019.
The E.coli levels had climbed so high that labs could no longer even properly measure them.
Discovery Park is a convenient getaway for Sacramentans. More recently however, visitors describe mountains of trash, waste, and needles. “Don't walk, wade or swim without shoes, used needles have been strewn throughout the park,” one Californian wrote. “I found crack heads, hookers, and crazy people screaming obscenities and throwing punches at anyone who came too close,” another described.
"I have been threatened by homeless trying to hit me, bitten by a homeless person’s dog," one intrepid visitor reported. "I have seen cleanup crews load as many as 4 bins the size of railroad cars with trash and it still isn't enough."
Sacramento County has put up signs warning people to wash their hands after touching the water and not to drink the water or even swim if they have open cuts, while blaming the E. coli contamination on bacteria from the “intestines of mammals – from wildlife to humans”. While that’s scientifically true, it isn’t the bears or the beavers that turned the river into a foul stew of bacteria. It’s the people.
Californians are swimming and tubing in water that Democrat politicians have made hazardous.
The environmental movement was built on claims of pollution, real or false, before leaving behind the field of actual health risks to people for science fiction fantasies about planetary destruction, ice ages and global warming. Meanwhile at Tiscornia Beach, at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers, the EPA’s threshold, a level of contamination that would make 32 out of 1,000 people sick, had been repeatedly exceeded. A professor referred to samples of the river water as “diluted sewage”.
That’s a problem considering that the American River is used to provide drinking water to Sacramento.
But officials will spend the next three to four years gathering samples to understand the problem.
What can happen to the swimmers, campers, and boaters while the officials spend years gathering samples and shifting blame for the problem?
This summer, a Shigella outbreak infected multiple people on the Santa Ana River. Shigella is potentially fatal. The Downey Park area was shut down for a week over the summer. After a week, the authorities insisted that there was probably nothing wrong with the river, but warned everyone to wash their hands after touching the river. Just not in the river which has homeless encampments nearby.
One obvious concern is that the Santa Ana River is used for drinking water across Orange County. While that water supply in Orange County is unlikely to be affected by the water pollution near Downey Park, the contamination is a warning that the homeless problem is not just a threat to campers and swimmers. Rivers like these are vast and have natural cleansing mechanisms, but everything has a limit.
The Sacramento River provides 31 percent of California’s water supply. The American River is a crucial elements of Sacramento’s water supply. The Santa Ana River is vital to Orange County’s water resources.
No part of any body of water from which drinking water is drawn should consist of “diluted sewage”.
The San Diego River is the largest local source of drinking water for San Diego County. Homeless encampments began to pop up alongside the San Diego River leading to piles of garbage and waste.
Earlier this year, the San Diego Water Board asked local agencies to, in the words of the local FOX affiliate, “curtail the flow of human fecal matter into the San Diego River.”
"It was surprising to find out there was actually a lot of human waste present in the San Diego River water shed," David Gibson, the Executive Officer of the Water Board, said. "There are organisms like noroviruses that cause massive illnesses on cruise ships that we're finding in our own water.”
Tracking the spread of infections caused by homeless waste is difficult. Most people don’t even associate bouts of stomach problems with a recent weekend swimming or boating on the water.
Or surfing.
In one study of 654 surfers, researchers noted a 3-fold increase in ear infections and a 5-fold increase in infected open wounds. Exposure to seawater had come to mean exposure to human fecal matter.
Surfing, the quintessential Californian sport, has been endangered by the state’s homeless policies.
The California lifestyle of beaches, swimming and surfing, hiking and camping, increasingly means risky contact with human waste. And the illnesses, from the merely gastrointestinal, to even more serious disease outbreaks, reflect the transformation of a prosperous state into a Third World country.
Environmentalists once obsessed over Love Canal. Today they ignore the contamination of California and the environmental hazards for families, especially children, because it’s politically incorrect.
While movies like Dark Waters depict corporate villains who cover up environmental catastrophes that harm families, in California, it’s the party of the environmentalists that has overseen an unprecedented environmental catastrophe that has affected some of the state’s major rivers and drinking supply.
And it’s the Democrats and their leftist organizations who have been covering up the threat.
No state is more obsessed with environmental virtue signaling than California. From windmills to solar panels, from plastic bag bans to straw bans, from a refusal to construct dams to putting fish ahead of farmers, Sacramento has imposed an environmentalist dystopia on its progressive populace.
Meanwhile Democrat social policies have left local children swimming in water that is diluted sewage.
