news.usni.org } ~ The Navy is looking at “something beyond even a Flight III” combat capability for its new-build destroyers... as its plans for transitioning from building the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer to the future Large Surface Combatant continue to evolve and the LSC procurement date continues to slide. Program Executive Officer for Ships Rear Adm. Bill Galinis told USNI News that questions about what the Large Surface Combatant needs to be and significant pressure on the annual shipbuilding budget are forcing the service to think about what the Arleigh Burke program will look like beyond the current multiyear contract for the Flight III configuration. The Large Surface Combatant program is meant to replace both the Ticonderoga-class cruiser and the DDG-51s, and previous documents from the Pentagon showed LSC acquisition beginning in Fiscal Year 2023, following heel-to-toe behind the end of the current contract for Flight III DDGs that ends in 2022. However, USNI News first reported in March that LSC acquisition had fallen to a 2025 start date – though the Navy pushed back at the time and said it could accelerate the program to resume that planned 2023 start date if industry were able to support a faster design process. Galinis told USNI News today that the Navy is now looking at 2026 or possibly later to begin the Large Surface Combatant. “We’re even considering right now, as we have these conceptual discussions on the Large Surface Combatant, do we need something beyond even a Flight III on the 51s? And again, I tell people, the budget always gets a vote, so you’ve got to think about what the Navy is doing over the next five to 10 years in terms of ship construction: we’ve got frigates coming online, Columbia ballistic missile submarines hands down is the top priority, we’re recapitalizing the sealift fleet, we need to continue building Virginias attack submarines, we just executed a two-carrier buy,” he said during a panel presentation at the American Society of Naval Engineers’ annual Fleet Maintenance and Modernization Symposium. “So competing priorities; where do you fit in there for the surface fleet and how do you continue to move forward with improving and getting that current combat system upgrade?” Asked about what might come between the current Flight III design and the Large Surface Combatant, Galinis told USNI News after his panel that “we are in the very early stages of that – again, to try to keep up, to pace the threat, to outpace the threat.”...  https://news.usni.org/2019/08/08/navy-considering-more-advanced-burke-destroyers-as-large-surface-combatant-timeline-slips?utm_source=USNI+News&utm_campaign=c60a214a80-USNI_NEWS_DAILY&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_0dd4a1450b-c60a214a80-231491269&mc_cid=c60a214a80&mc_eid=3999f18767
The Palestinians Do Not Want Equal Rights

freebeacon.com } ~ On Sunday, CNN's Jake Tapper suggested  that Palestinian leaders "validate" hatred toward Israel while discussing the tone of American leaders following the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas... which, according to authorities, a suspected white supremacist perpetrated. Rep. worthless-Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.), a Palestinian-American, took offense to Tapper's comment. "Comparing Palestinian human rights advocates to terrorist white nationalists is fundamentally a lie," she tweeted the next day. "Palestinians want equality, human dignity & to stop the imprisonment of children. White supremacy is calling for the *domination* of one race w/ the use of violence." worthless-Tlaib seemed to imply that Palestinian hatred, incitement, and terrorism against Israel are understandable, if not moral and legitimate, because such behavior is meant to achieve equality and dignity, while white supremacists use their rhetoric and actions to seek racial domination. Like-minded progressives, most notably Reps. worthless-Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) and commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), have similarly argued that Palestinians have little choice but to respond to Israeli "crimes" with violence, and that Palestinians—and their ardent, progressive supporters in the West—simply want equal rights for the Palestinian people. These voices ignore history, which completely  contradicts their arguments, not to mention actual reality in Israel and the Palestinian territories, where the situation on the ground also contradicts their arguments. Instead, they focus on personal stories to make the case that Israel is evil and the Palestinians are noble victims. But even here, playing with the public's emotions, the anti-Israel progressives lose the debate. Two recent anecdotes show why and reveal the problem at the center of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The first story culminated on Tuesday, when Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri awarded residency to a Palestinian man who saved the lives of a rabbi's children in the West Bank. The unnamed man, 28, and his wife were traveling near their home in Hebron on July 1, 2016, when they found an overturned vehicle that had gone off the road. Terrorists had sprayed the car of Rabbi Miki Mark with bullets, murdering him, seriously injuring his wife, Chava, and hurting their two teenage children. The Palestinian man and his wife immediately stopped and helped the trapped family evacuate the car, before administering first aid and comforting them until emergency medical services arrived. "I took the boy and I hugged him. I gave him some water and applied iodine, and just kept telling him that everything was going to be OK," the man said. "It doesn't matter to me if it was an accident or a terror attack; it's irrelevant. These are people, children, who need help, and if I can help, I will help them."  "The girl told me, ‘God sent an Arab to help us,'" he added...

freebeacon.com } ~ Top U.S. diplomats are pressuring the German government to reverse its recent decision to decline participation in a U.S.-led coalition in the Persian Gulf... aimed at combating Iran's repeated attempts to hijack international oil tankers, according to multiple U.S. officials who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon. With tensions escalating in the Straits of Hormuz, a key international shipping lane in the Persian Gulf, Germany and France have rebuffed requests from the Trump administration to join its military coalition, which has sought to retain order in the area amid increasingly hostile acts by the Iranian regime. New warnings issued by the U.S. Maritime Administration this week allege that Iran is using increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks to jam ships' GPS networks and mimic communications from American military vessels, contributing to uncertainty in the region that threatens to ignite a full-blown war. As of Thursday, Iran continued to hold hostage a British tanker ship it invaded in the area, prompting concerns for the welfare of the crew that has been held hostage now by the Iranians for nearly three weeks. Senior U.S. diplomats told the Free Beacon that Germany's refusal to join the American coalition in the Persian Gulf is only serving to embolden Iran and demonstrate to the hardline regime there that the West is not unified in its objection to Tehran's increasingly brash behavior...

foxnews.com } ~ President Trump said Thursday National Counterterrorism Center Director Joseph Maguire would become acting Director of National Intelligence, effective Aug. 15... when current Director of National Intelligence  Dan Coats is set to leave the administration. The president also announced that Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Sue Gordon will leave that position on the same day. "Admiral Maguire has a long and distinguished career in the military, retiring from the U.S. Navy in 2010," Trump tweeted. "He commanded at every level, including the Naval Special Warfare Command. He has also served as a National Security Fellow at Harvard University. I have no doubt he will do a great job!" Coats also praised Maguire, saying in a statement that he "has had a long, distinguished career" and will lead the intelligence community with distinction.  Trump nominated Maguire, a leader in the U.S. Navy SEAL community, as director of the center on June 2018 and he was confirmed by the Senate on December 2018. Trump praised Gordon as "a great professional with a long and distinguished career. "I have gotten to know Sue over the past 2 years and have developed great respect for her," said Trump. Despite the president's praise, it was clear that she was not going to be named acting director or be nominated to replace Coats as the new director. In a two-paragraph letter, Gordon thanked Trump for the opportunity to serve the nation as deputy national intelligence director for two years...  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/joseph-maguire-acting-director-national-intelligence

aim.org } ~ On Wednesday afternoon angry and confused conservative voices started filling the Twitter verse over Twitter’s decision to “lock-up” and suspend Senate Majority Leader... Mitch McConnell’s campaign account known as “@Team_Mitch.”  Twitter suspended Team Mitch’s account after the campaign tweeted about the personal, hate-filled attack on the Majority Leader while he was home recovering from a fractured shoulder. Team Mitch stated they had appealed the violation but Twitter stood by their decision. A Twitter spokesman told  Politico that the account was “temporarily locked out of their account for a Twitter that violated our violent threats policy, specifically threats involving physical safety. The locked account comes just two days after a visibly angry mob of left-wing protesters stormed the outside of McConnell’s Louisville, Kentucky home, screaming profanities like “Just stab the mother f—– in the heart” and that he “should have broken his little raggedy, wrinkled- neck.” Although Twitter suspended Team Mitch for its “violent content”, they allowed the hashtag, “#MassacreMitch” to trend on their platform for hours during the protest, which also violates their own  community standard of “prohibiting the glorification of violence.” McConnell’s campaign manager, Kevin Golden, said, “This is the problem with the speech police in America today… Twitter will allow the words ‘Massacre Mitch’ to trend nationally on their platform. But locks our account for posting actual threats against us.” A progressive news, policy, and commentary group in Kentucky called, “Forward Kentucky” took to their Twitter account to give prominence to the double standard within the social media community.   https://www.aim.org/aim-column/twitter-shows-double-standard-in-locking-team-mitch-account/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=Daily%20Email%20Aug-08-2019&utm_medium=email
scumbag liar-Nadler: ‘This is

politico.com } ~ House Judiciary Committee Chairman scumbag liar-Jerry Nadler said publicly for the first time on Thursday that his panel is conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump... adding that the committee will decide by the end of the year whether to refer articles of impeachment to the House floor. The committee has said as much in recent court filings as it seeks former special counsel Robert Mueller’s grand jury materials and testimony from his investigation’s star witnesses. But it was a rare rhetorical escalation from the New York Democrat, who has privately pushed Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi to support a formal inquiry of whether to remove the president from office.“This is formal impeachment proceedings,” scumbag liar-Nadler said in a CNN interview. “We are investigating all the evidence, gathering the evidence. And we will at the conclusion of this — hopefully by the end of the year — vote to vote articles of impeachment to the House floor. Or we won’t. That’s a decision that we’ll have to make. But that’s exactly the process we’re in right now.” That timeline would put an impeachment battle in the middle of the Democratic presidential primary contests, which begin in early 2020 — a concern for Democrats who believe that the window to act on impeachment is quickly closing. liar-Pelosi has said impeachment is too divisive for the country and has relied on her six investigative committees to uncover new information about Trump’s alleged misconduct, focusing on his finances and his conduct as president. But scumbag liar-Nadler said liar-Pelosi “has been very cooperative” in his panel’s efforts, and she personally signed off on recent court filings that effectively put to rest the semantic debate over whether to call the Judiciary Committee’s investigation an impeachment inquiry. “The fact is, we are doing an investigation. We are investigating the facts, investigating the evidence,” scumbag liar-Nadler said. “We are going into court to get witnesses all with a view toward deciding and recommending to the House whether to impeach the president.”... I do hope this falls flat on their faces and lose big time in 2020.

by conservativeinstitute.org ~ Weeks after President Trump threatened to begin deporting large numbers of illegal migrants, he followed through on his word...  Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) rounded up 680 illegal immigrants in Mississippi on Wednesday, in the largest single workplace raid in 11 years and “the largest single-state immigration enforcement operation in our nation’s history.” “These are not victimless crimes,” an ICE official said. “Illegal workers create vulnerabilities in the marketplace…as well as stealing the identities of legal U.S. workers, citizens, and legal immigrants alike, who must suffer the long-lasting consequences of their stolen identities.” The joint operation between ICE and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi was preceded by a year-long investigation. The raids swept through seven food processing plants in Bay Springs, Carthage, Canton, Morton, Pelahatchie and Sebastapol. Agents asked workers at the targeted sites to provide papers proving their legal status. Those who could not were arrested, while legal workers were allowed to leave the plants after undergoing a physical search. Some illegal immigrants tried to escape on foot, but were ultimately stopped by ICE agents who surrounded the facilities’ perimeters. At a plant owned by Koch Foods, Inc. in Morton, detained workers filled up three buses and were taken to a hangar at the Mississippi National Guard base in Flowood, Mississippi, for processing. Some of the arrested migrants have already been given deportation orders and will be swiftly forced to leave the country. Others will be processed in immigration court and may be released after a review, while others will face criminal prosecution. “All the unlawfully present foreign nationals arrested Wednesday are being interviewed by ICE staff to record any potential mitigating humanitarian situations,” ICE said in a statement. “Based on these interviews, and consideration of their criminality and prior immigration history, ICE is determining on a case-by-case basis based on the totality of the circumstances which individuals will be detained and which persons may be released from custody at present.” Koch Foods, which is not affiliated with the billionaire Koch brothers, is one of the largest poultry companies in the U.S. with an estimated $3.2 billion in revenue. ICE agents seized business records from the plants and also arrested some management personnel...

news.usni.org } ~ An explosion at a Russian Arctic missile test site killed two and injured at least six others Thursday, according to Russian government officials... The first reports of an incident which occurred at a base in the northwestern Arkhangelsk region started appearing on the Russian news service Interfax just before noon local time. Initial reports were sketchy, but the incident reportedly occurred during the test of a liquid jet engine typically used on rockets, according to an account posted by the BBC. TASS news service reported a brief rise in radiation levels. The Russian Ministry of Defense released a statement saying radiation levels in the region were normal and “no harmful atmospheric discharges after Arkhangelsk range explosion.” The ministry did close navigation for a month in the White Sea near the military range and the port of Arkhangelsk. The region is used by the Russian navy to test intercontinental ballistic missiles, according to the BBC report. This region plays a significant role for Russian military planners. The port of Arkhangelsk is the home to a substantial portion of Russia’s Joint Strategic Command North, which includes elements of all branches of the Russian military. Also, Russia’s Northern Fleet has a significant presence in the region. The Northern Fleet accounts for about two-thirds of the Russian navy’s nuclear strike capabilities, according to a June research paper by London-based think tank Chatham House. The Arkhangelsk incident occurs a week after an ammunition depot in Siberia caught fire. In this incident, one person died, eight others were injured, and thousands of residents were evacuated, according to several media outlets including a BBC report. A month ago, 14 sailors died when a secretive Russian submarine caught fire near the Northern Fleet’s base in Severomorsk. The submarine was identified as Losharik (AS-12), a nuclear-powered submarine that is widely believed to be a key asset for the Russian Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research, also known as GUGI. These submarines are used for covert operations and GUGI reports directly to Russian military intelligence — the GRU — instead of operating as part of the Russian Navy.
