Trooper Dave Hintz said he was surprised to see the woman driving down the highway on her scooter. Other drivers were too, thinking the woman was leading the trooper on a low-speed chase. Hintz said he was simply trying to get her home, not detain her. ‘I just treated her the way I would've wanted somebody to treat my mom,’ said Hintz. He ended up escorting the woman home, letting her drive as fast as the scooter would go, which is 6 miles per hour. (Katherine Zimmerman) ~ The recent news that US airstrikes may have killed two senior al Qaeda leaders – including al Qaeda’s general manager – once again raises the question of the overall effectiveness of a strategy of attrition against the group... Certainly there have been some significant blows to al Qaeda, and most recently to al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen. The US has taken four senior leaders off the battlefield in Yemen in the past six months, but there has been no obvious slowdown in al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s activities there. Even as the US sees success in degrading al Qaeda’s leadership, al Qaeda has been able to grow and expand its insurgency across the Muslim-majority world. Al Qaeda’s expansion is occurring even as the Islamic State in Iraq and al Sham (ISIS) strengthens at an alarming rate. Both groups are exploiting conditions within the Muslim-majority world advanced in part by America’s current foreign policy positions. Professors at the University of California at Berkeley have been officially warned against saying such things as “America is the land of opportunity.” Why? Because this is considered to be an act of “micro-aggression” against minorities and women. Supposedly it shows that you don’t take their grievances seriously and are therefore guilty of being aggressive toward them, even if only on a micro scale. You might think that this is just another crazy idea from Berkeley. But the same concept appears in a report from the flagship campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana. Hilly Wants to Fundamentally Transform American Elections
(J. Christian Adams) ~ Hilly Clinton has given Republicans a taste of what is to come. In recent days, she has delivered two speeches laying out an architecture that Democrats will use to retain the White House in 2016. Republicans better pay close attention... Hilly jettisoned Bill’s triangulation from the 1990’s and aligned with the radical racialist muscle that now dominates the Democrat party of 2015. In Houston, she tried to scare racial minorities by conjuring the ghost of Jim Crow. On Welfare Island in New York City, she launched a cultural crusade to pit racial and sexual interest groups against mainstream America. Hilly is banking on Republicans responding to these attacks the same way they have in the past: shock, then shame, followed by capitulation. Clinton isn’t alone among the candidates in this approach. In the abstract, most recognize the opportunity such a case represents to roll back nObamacare and force a debate about real, pro-market insurance reform... But as the decision looms, many now have second thoughts, convinced that the country will blame them for disruption in the ruling’s wake and that eventually, the only politically tolerable option will be to cave and restore the nObamacare subsidies eliminated by the Supreme Court. Nobody should ever be shocked when a small group of people who are granted absolute authority to determine which cities get to host major events such as the World Cup, the Olympic Games or political conventions, allow bribes to sway their judgment. Frankly, they’d have to be jabbering idiots to base the selection process on anything but the size of the payoff. It sure makes more sense than the alternative, which consists of flipping a coin.
