Trump Gives Dems Ultimatum on the Wall
by Saagar Enjeti
{} ~ President Donald Trump expressed optimism that a deal could be reached with Democratic lawmakers to end a partial government shutdown... in brief comments at a bill signing Wednesday, but warned that he may declare a national emergency if the talks continue to drag on for too long.  Trump has floated the idea in recent days that he may declare a national emergency at the southern border under his authority as commander-in-chief, which would then authorize him to begin construction on the wall with military funds. “We’re all working together. I really believe the Democrats and the Republicans are working together,” Trump told reporters. “Otherwise, we’ll go about it in a different manner,” he continued, alluding to the declaration of a national emergency, but added, “I don’t think we’ll have to do that.” Asked specifically on his thinking about declaring a national emergency, Trump replied, “I think we might work a deal, and if we don’t, we might go that route.”...

Poll: 79 Percent Of Americans Think
Border Is In ‘Crisis’ Or Is A ‘Problem’
by Amber Athey
{} ~ A vast majority of American voters believe that the United States is facing a “crisis” or a “problem” on the southern border... according to a new poll by Politico and Morning Consult. While less than half of those surveyed 42 percent agree with President Donald Trump’s assertion that the border is in “crisis,” another 37 percent concede that there is a “problem” — meaning 79 percent of voters believe the situation at the border is a serious issue. Only 12 percent of voters polled said that the situation at the border is neither a crisis nor a problem. According to data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), an average of nearly 2,000 immigrants are apprehended at the border each day attempting to cross illegally into the United States. The poll, which was conducted January 4-6 during the second week of the partial government shutdown, also found that 44 percent of respondents support a border wall. While Trump previously took credit for the government shutdown in an Oval Office meeting with then-House Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag/clown-Schumer, he is now shifting the blame to Democrats, who he says are refusing to negotiate until the government is re-opened. However, 47 percent of those polled say Trump is mostly to blame and just 33 percent say Democrats are to blame for the continual shutdown. Those 47 percent must be all dems which in turn believe lies and hatred for Trump.
Pulosi lets slip details of ‘wrap-up smear’ tactic
by Matthew Boose
{} ~ House Speaker Nancy Pulosi described the fine details of a smear tactic that sounded eerily familiar in a C-SPAN video... The clip, which dates from 2017, shows Pulosi describing a method called the “wrap-up smear” with apparent delight, like an expert boasting about secret methods of sabotage. Liberal “fact-checking” sites have attempted to de-bunk the clip, noting that Pulosi was accusing Republicans of using the technique. But the sophisticated smear method that she describes is all too familiar to anyone who’s been following the Democrats’ recent conduct. The things that Pulosi says in the video would not shock anyone who saw how the Democrats behaved during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, or who has been awake for the last several weeks of highly personal Democratic mudslinging amid the partial government shutdown. The video records Pulosi speaking to reporters at a weekly press briefing in 2017. Liberals say her comments were taken out of context, but she talks about the smear method like somebody who has used it once or twice. “It’s a diversionary tactic. It’s a self-fulfilling prophesy. You demonize, and then you — we call it the wrap-up smear. You want to talk about politics? It’s called the wrap-up smear. You smear somebody with falsehoods and all the rest, and then you merchandise it, and then you write it, and they’ll say ‘See, it’s reported in the press that this, this, and this,’ so they have that validation that the press reported the smear, and then it’s called a wrap-up smear. ‘Now I’m going to merchandise the press’s report on the smear that we made.’ It’s a tactic, and it’s self-evident,” Pulosi says...
The Shutdown's Essential Personnel Remain on the Job
by Jordan Candler:  Government shutdowns are a paradox. Conservatives have a valid point when they say the federal government is too bloated and that billions of tax dollars are being doled out to provide completely unnecessary jobs. However, just because the sailing appears to be smooth nearly three weeks into the current partial shutdown does not mean the situation is sustainable or that shutdowns are good.

As National Review’s Jim Geraghty reminds us, there are thousands upon thousands of important federal employees who are still putting in hours despite being furloughed. It’s they who are keeping broad disruption at bay. But that task becomes harder the longer the shutdown continues.
Says Geraghty: “You’re seeing some conservatives argue that the American government is functioning fine during the shutdown, demonstrating that the ‘nonessential’ workers are genuinely unneeded and that this proves that there’s no real need to bring the shutdown to an end. This is a pretty poorly informed reaction. Some of the most important duties of the federal government are continuing to function because hundreds of thousands of federal employees are working without pay and hoping that they get paid for their labor once the shutdown ends.
Consider the number of furloughed or soon-to-be-furloughed workers from these various departments:

  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection: 55,000

  • U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement: 16,000

  • Citizenship and Immigration Services: 17,000

  • Federal Emergency Management Agency: 15,000

  • U.S. Coast Guard: 42,000

  • Transportation and Security Administration: 55,000

  • Department of Justice: 36,000

  • Federal Bureau of Prisons: 35,000

  • Drug Enforcement Agency: 7,600

  • U.S. Marshals Service: 4,600

  • Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives: 4,200

There are other considerations as well. As Geraghty goes on to note, “Zookeepers are still taking care of the animals … without pay. About 95 percent of NASA’s employees aren’t going to work — just the folks who have to show up and keep NASA people and property safe. … Whether or not you like the Department of Housing and Urban Development, if we’re going to have public housing, we probably should have safety inspections. Those are suspended until further notice. Some contract workers in federal buildings such as custodians and security officers are effectively laid off until the government reopens.”
“Just about any institution can temporarily get by with the minimal staff,” Geraghty adds, “but after a while the duties pile up and become unmanageable — whether it’s a waitress trying to serve too many tables, supermarkets with one cash register open, or public bathrooms with only one stall working.” In other words, shutdowns — and workers — are subjected to a compound effect.
None of this should be confused with why we have a government shutdown, which is a completely separate issue. But we can both criticize Big Government while at the same time sympathize with diligent workers who are affected. Some lawmakers have suggested furloughing their own salaries during government shutdowns. That’s not a bad idea — they surely deserve the money less than these thousands of workers who make our way of living safe and secure.  ~The Patriot Post

CONFUSION:   Pelosi Says Constitution Spells Out ‘Two Co-Equal Branches’ Of Government

No Nancy. No.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi must be taking night classes at the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez School of Government.

Pelosi, the 79-year-old third-highest ranking official in the U.S. government, was speaking to the Center for American Progress today when she mistakenly said there are “two co-equal branches” of government, before correcting herself to say there are three.

“First of all, let me just say, we take an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Pelosi said.

“Democrats take that oath seriously, and we are committed to honoring our oath of office. I’m not sure that our Republican colleagues share that commitment, and I’m not sure that the president of the United States does, too,” she claimed.

“So, in light of the fact that the beauty of the Constitution is a system of checks and balances— two co-equal branches— three co-equal branches of government,” she corrected with a laugh.

“A check and balance on each other,” she continued. “Con— Constitution spells out the pri— pa, uh, the duties of Congress and one of them is oversight of the president of the United States, another one of them is to impeach the president of the United States,” Pelosi said.

In November, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rallied supporters on Facebook to pitch in and help Democrats take back “all three chambers of Congress.”

“…the Progressive movement works and it wins in all districts…If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress– three chambers of government…,” she said during the virtual appearance.

She clarified that she meant the “presidency, the Senate and the House.”

According to the Constitution, the three branches of government are the legislative, executive and judicial.

Below: Nancy Pelosi is continuing to promote the false narrative that President Trump is involved in a cover-up and therefore may be guilty of an impeachable offense. Millie Weaver joins Alex to break down the propaganda being used to overturn the democratic election of 2016
