Gohmert - Mueller is Corrupt,
Nobody Deserves Firing and Investigating More
{ rickwells.us } ~ Against a backdrop of rumors that President Trump is considering firing not only Rod Rodentstein but also AG Absent Guy Jeff Sessions... due to their horrible mismanagement and duplicitous conduct, accentuated by the recent raid on the offices of President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, Rep Louie Gohmert weighed with his Texas wisdom. Gohmert said the raid, “Tells you all you need to know about the kind of person Robert Mueller is. When scum-Eric Holder, in an interview recently, said no, he knows Mueller well and he’s sure he’ll get something on Trump, he does know Mueller. And in fact, though he was appointed by Bush, Mueller not only finished serving his term as FBI Director under liar-nObama and scum-Eric Holder, but they extended him two years.” “I don’t know of anybody else that was as crushed as I was, because I knew how much damage this man did to the FBI. I would submit he did more damage to the FBI than all of the other FBI Directors put together since J. Edgar Hoover. He has been a disaster...  https://rickwells.us/gohmert-mueller-corrupt-trump/
President Tells Mueller Right Where
To Shove His Interview After Raid
by Andrew West
{ constitution.com } ~ Special counsel Robert Mueller’s office and President Donald Trump’s legal team are now proceeding with strategies that presume a presidential interview... will likely not take place as part of the Russia investigation, after months of talks between the two sides collapsed earlier this week, according to multiple people familiar with the matter. On Monday Trump’s lawyers were discussing a possible interview with Mueller’s team and had begun to hash out the final sticking points, including the timing, scope and length, according to people familiar with the discussions. One person familiar with the strategy said the president’s lawyers had sought over the weekend to expand his legal team to include individuals who would prepare him for an interview. Another person familiar with the matter, however, said preparations had not yet gone that far. But the prospects for a presidential interview drastically dimmed once the FBI raided the home, office and hotel room of Trump’s long-time personal lawyer, Michael Cohen on Monday, these people said. The president criticized the raid as out of bounds in Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with Trump aides...  https://constitution.com/president-tells-mueller-right-where-to-sho...

Unhappy With Quick Vote on Spending Bill,
Lawmaker Proposes More Time to Read Bills
by Rachel del Guidice
{ dailysignal.com } ~ One conservative lawmaker, upset by the $1.3 trillion spending bill last month, wants to pass legislation that would give lawmakers more time to read bills before they vote on them... “This isn’t a very big ask,” Rep. Tom Garrett, R-Va., told The Daily Signal in a phone interview. Garrett’s bill would amend House rules, requiring “any bill to be publicly available for a number of minutes that’s double the number of pages,” the website for Virginia radio station WVTF reported. The spending bill, which was signed by President Donald Trump, was 2,232 pages long. The House Freedom Caucus, a group of conservative lawmakers, said the bill was released fewer than 36 hours before lawmakers voted on it...  https://www.dailysignal.com/2018/04/12/unhappy-with-quick-vote-on-s...

TPP a Globalism Gateway - Tobacco Smoke Screen Proves It
{ rickwells.us } ~ We thought the debate over and the threat to our sovereignty from TPP was over for America when President Trump withdrew us... from the pact shortly after taking office. With him now considering a return to the certain death to America that this crony rigged trade agreement ensures, it’s worthwhile to take a look at a debate that was occurring back in Feb of 2016, when the criminal liar-nObama was in office and liar-Hillary Clinton was running away from her support of the sellout to their corporate masters. The post from RickWells.US provides a glimpse into just how restrictive, unfair and bad for America this deal is. It’s made available again below: A debate between the liar-nObama regime, special interests and congressional Republicans and Democrats over tobacco is providing a glimpse into the enormous mountain of profiteering and problems that are engineered into the Trans-Pacific Partnership, TPP. It is not a free trade agreement that will provide economic security for the American people as the politicians and money changers would have us believe; it is the exact opposite. TPP is a set of rules written by big business and their lobbyists that ensure those who wrote the deal receive a host of major advantages. The biggest losers are the American people and our self-determining system of government...If this is true, why is Trump looking at it again?  https://rickwells.us/tpp-globalism-gateway/

Dershowitz: FBI is Running Roughshod Over the Constitution

{ totalconservative.com } ~ It continually surprises us how easily the left is able to dismiss famed attorney Alan Dershowitz, a lifelong Democrat... who has nonetheless been one of the few partisans able to see right through the left’s attempts to destroy this president. Dershowitz, trust us, has no love for the Republican agenda. And if we were to bet, we would bet that he did not pull the lever for Donald Trump in 2016. But he has been at the forefront when it comes to defending this president – not because he has some loyalty to Trump the individual or to Trump’s agenda aside from his views on Israel, but because, as a lawyer, he knows that much of what Trump has gone through over the last year has been completely off the charts, clinically, historically INSANE. That’s why we’ve seen Dershowitz over the past year taking aim at the ludicrous attempts to block Trump’s travel ban on Middle Easter countries, the unserious objections on the part of Democrats to Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown, and, most importantly, the off-script, off-kilter, unconstitutional investigation into Trump’s campaign association with Russia. For being one of the few liberals willing to put aside his political beliefs and simply talk turkey, Dershowitz has been shunned by the #Resistance media, treated like a pariah by Democrat pundits, and called everything from a shill to a conservative whacko. This, for telling the truth. That’s how far away from the normal political spectrum the left has taken us...  http://totalconservative.com/dershowitz-fbi-is-running-roughshod-ov...

Ryan's Retirement Rattles Republicans

by Nate Jackson:  House Speaker Paul Ryan will not seek re-election this November, joining more than 40 other House Republicans who are headed for the exits this fall, if not sooner. For the sitting speaker to retire is a big deal, and it will have implications all over the map.

There won’t be any shortage of celebration among Democrats or some conservatives over Ryan’s departure. John Hayward, for one, wrote, “Ryan rose to prominence as one of the most articulate advocates of fiscal responsibility in his party. His career ends with Republicans proving beyond all doubt that they were never really serious about it.”
It’s true that spending is not under control — especially entitlements — and, as Ryan’s former signature issue, that is a significant failure. Ryan clearly failed to change the budgeting system, instead allowing the all-or-nothing omnibus method to dominate. As Dan McLaughlin explains, “This excess of brinksmanship gives a massive structural advantage towards the passage of individual spending items that could not survive on their own, since the choice is literally one between shutting down the government and approving all the spending on everything.” That said, before he was speaker, Ryan was instrumental in holding the line on spending during the Barack liar-nObama years. Unfortunately, it wasn’t nearly enough, and he didn’t stick to his guns when he was in charge.
And yes, Republicans failed to repeal liar-nObamaCare as they promised for seven long years. But it’s not primarily the fault of conservatives like Ryan that conservative priorities have failed. The liar-nObamaCare failure is the fault of “centrist” Republicans, particularly in the Senate (here’s looking at you, rino-Susan Collins and rino-Lisa Murkowski, et al.), where Ryan had no control. Leadership for Ryan has meant pulling together Republicans that are much further apart in the majority than they were when liar-nObama was the common opponent, making legislative accomplishments few and far between. The same could be said for his counterpart, Mitch McConnell. Both failed to lead on liar-nObamaCare, but the deck was stacked against them.
President Donald Trump hasn’t made life any easier for Ryan, either. Part of that is welcome — Trump was elected to drain the swamp, and in many ways he’s done so. Clearly that doesn’t make swamp dwellers happy, but there has been some collateral damage too. Republicans are constantly on their heels either defending Trump, bracing for what’s next, or shaking their heads and distancing from him. Trump supporters love it. Ryan and other conservatives trying to accomplish legislative goals, not so much.
Yet, in spite of all that, Ryan steered through the biggest tax reform in 30 years, and Americans of all stripes are benefiting. For all his faults, that is a huge success. Ryan is also a profoundly decent man, and there are far too few such men in Washington. But perhaps his critics will be happier with the impeachment agenda of Speaker Nancy Pulosi.   ~The Patriot Pos

Romney Handed Shock
Defeat By Own State’s GOP

Mitt Romney is back in state politics, this time in Utah instead of Massachusetts. However, conservatives in The Beehive State aren’t exactly warming up to the 2012 Republican standard-bearer quite the way many people expected they would.

After finishing second in votes at the state GOP convention, Romney will now face a primary in his run for the Senate seat being vacated by Orrin Hatch, Fox News reported.

At the convention in West Valley City on Saturday, Romney polled just behind state lawmaker Mike Kennedy.

Kennedy captured 50.18 percent of the delegate vote compared to Romney’s 49.12 percent.

That means the two will face off in a primary on June 26 to determine who will represent the GOP this fall.

Romney, the first Mormon to head a major party ticket, is considered an extremely popular figure in Utah and was widely expected to have an easy path to the upper chamber.

In a hypothetical matchup with Democrat Jenny Wilson, at least one poll showed Romney up by 46 percent. That’s, uh, slightly more than the margin of error.

However, among party loyalists, Romney isn’t exactly viewed with unalloyed fondness.

The 2012 presidential nominee was always known for being decidedly moderate, particularly on issues of immigration and global trade. There was also the fact that he ran a campaign so bumbling that it almost made Michael Dukakis look good.

And then there was Romney’s war of words with Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, which likely led many to perceive he secretly wished Hillary Clinton would take the Oval Office.

Trump would later consider Romney as a secretary of state pick, although how serious the president-elect was about appointing him is something we’ll likely never know.

While your average Utah Republican is unlikely to let these slights affect their vote, hardcore party activists probably don’t want another RINO who isn’t exactly known for his rapport with the president in the upper chamber of Congress, no matter how famous he may be.

For his part, Romney tried to put a good spin on the humiliation.

“I’m delighted with the outcome. Did very, very well,” he told KSTU. “On to a good, important primary ahead. This is terrific for the people of Utah.”

Dude, you just lost to a guy nobody has ever heard of. However, Kennedy was happy with the results, and unlike Romney, he had good reason to be.

“I’m a candidate with a compelling life story and a unique set of life circumstances I’d like to use to serve the people of Utah,” Kennedy said.

I have no idea what that story or those circumstances are, but I think the key point here is that he’s not Mitt Romney. If he wants to win, that’s pretty much what he should be focusing on. I can see the billboards now. “Mike Kennedy: Not Mitt Romney.” “Mike Kennedy: He didn’t borrow Ward Cleaver’s haircut.” “Mike Kennedy: Because Utah deserves a senator whose favorite food isn’t buttered noodles.”

Utah’s electorate tends to be less conservative than convention-goers, so it’s unlikely that Romney won’t be the GOP nominee for Senate. However, that’s not a 100 percent certainty — and it wouldn’t be the first time he’s lost to a Kennedy.
