Chelsea Handler calls for generals to remove Trump from office in military coup, gets clock cleaned

Share Tweet Plus Pin On Friday, alleged “comedian” Chelsea Handler took to Twitter to advocate for a military coup against President Trump, suggesting that military generals take things into their own hands and remove the president from power. “To all the generals surrounding our idiot-in-chief…the longer U wait to remove him, the longer UR name will appear negatively in history,” she tweeted. Naturally, her call for a coup d’etat didn’t go over very well with the reality-based community: Well, we could probably find one that’s just a bit more stupid than this, but the point is well taken. At least she’s not threatening to call police on those who retweet her. But, one person observed, Handler will probably outdo herself: Twitchy, noting that Handler has been on something of a tear on social media lately, observed: Ya’ think Chelsea understands exactly what she all but threatened Trump with by writing this tweet? She’s not all that bright so odds are she doesn’t; luckily Buck Sexton was more than happy to help her out. Twitchy also suggested someone get Handler a dictionary, just to make sure that “she gets it.” No, she’s not suggesting it — she’s openly advocating it. Sadly, she probably doesn’t even know that’s what she’s doing. Of course, one might argue that Handler herself may have violated federal law with her tweet, specifically, 18 U.S. Code § 2383, which states: Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States. Then there’s this law against advocating the overthrow of the government — something a number of liberals have done since Trump’s election: Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof— Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.
