I believe that after Katrina (with the dam blowing), the Gulf Oil (with the oil rig blowing, it seems to me we keep having disasters centered around water. If you have watched the Malcolm X movie (with his Moslem teacher scene)& if you have seen the Osama Bin Laden video, you will see them with a clear glass of water. I think that could be a sign.
Please protect your State's water supply. Thank you.

I completely agree, the tea party "dream" does include those that have Christian beliefs, which is great, but it is purposely not a listed tenant of the movement and not a prerequisite to participate unless you are talking about the Glen Beck 9-12 initiative which is a different thing altogether.

Not long ago, I was high and mighty on the Judaic/Christian values that our country were founded upon until a liberal friend of mine made a good point and I had to swallow my pride somewhat because that the very same system of values supported slavery and did not allow women or African-Americans to vote, etc. Touche...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that. Mine is this…I feel that mixing our political message with religion very may well be the end of this movement just as it has signaled the beginning of the end in the republican party in general.

What concerns me the most is that the last election demonstrated that we no longer have the numbers to win elections without support of independents and cannot do so by being a party with an exclusive membership as we have done in the past. When you promote religion with politics, you immediately disenfranchise those that chose a lifestyle other than the one that we choose which is 10% of the voting population and the non-believers that are about 15% of the voting population. Not to mention that it makes us look like an off shoot of the Republican Party and many of them need to go too.

Let Glen Beck's 9-12 initiative mobilize our traditional power base but we should avoid the exclusive nature of religion and keep this political to include those individuals...it would scare the heck out of the far left :)

A Word From The Founder;
The Tea Party dream includes all who possess a strong belief in the foundational Judaic/Christian values embedded in our great founding documents. He believes the responsibility of our beloved nation is entrenched within the hearts of true American Patriots from all walks of life, every race, religion and national origin, all sharing a common belief in the values which made and keep our beloved nation great. This belief led to the creation of the Modern Day Tea party. Many Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Green and Independent Citizens identify with the premises set forth by the newly founded Tea Party movement, striking a chord and ringing true with the American Spirit.

Thanks, I just found them:
http://teaparty.org/founder.html

Non-Negotiable Core Beliefs are:
1. Illegal Aliens Are Here illegally.
2. Pro-Domestic Employment Is Indispensable.
3. Stronger Military Is Essential.
4. Special Interests Eliminated.
5. Gun Ownership Is Sacred.
6. Government Must Be Downsized.
7. National Budget Must Be Balanced.
8. Deficit Spending Will End.
9. Bail-out And Stimulus Plans Are Illegal.
10. Reduce Personal Income Taxes A Must.
11. Reduce Business Income Taxes Is Mandatory.
12. Political Offices Available To Average Citizens.
13. Intrusive Government Stopped.
14. English As Core Language Is Required.
15. Traditional Family Values Are Encouraged.

I think #16 should be abolishing the Federal Reserve although that would take about 2 decades to achieve due to stranglehold it has on our domestic and foreign monetary policy.

Robert, the comments I made earlier were in reference to comments made by our founder: " The Tea Party dream includes all who possess a strong belief in the foundational Judaic/Christian values embedded in our great founding documents." I believe the only reason our Nation has been around as long as it has is because we have always been a Judaic/Christian Nation. However I welcome your comments and will be more careful in the future. Thank for your explanation.

I did not mean to spark a debate on religion, just wanted us to be careful in checking facts before posting, I made that same mistake a time or two also and nothing will destroy ones credibility faster than misrepresenting facts that can be easily verified, regardless how well they support your cause.

Where is the founding principle of the Tea Party movement that mentions religion? This is not to be confused with the 9-12 stuff from Glenn Beck…he is definitely a patriot, but too exclusive to ever go outside the already on-board far right.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought we were about the values that made us great a great nation such as free markets, limited government, protecting civil liberties and sticking to the US constitution.

If we require one must conform to our religious views also, you eliminate the support needed to expand this effort outside the right-wing white Christian conservative support base and we become a vocal but quite useless bunch as we are no longer reaching out. I did not join up to preach to the choir, I would like to get independent voters and possibly a few open minded liberals to fight for conservative values, not the conservative party far right wing christian coalition religious values. I don't think we will achieve the numbers needed to make a difference if we mix religion and politics.
