Whoops: PolitiFact's 'Lie of the Year' Turns Out to Be True

What was the "lie of the year"? Mitt Romney's campaign ad on Jeeps made in China.

Last month, PolitiFact selected its "Lie of the Year." Given PolitiFact's dubious record of singling out Republicans for lying far more often than Democrats, you probably could have guessed the winner of this particular sweepstakes was a Mitt Romney campaign ad:

It was a lie told in the critical state of Ohio in the final days of a close campaign -- that Jeep was moving its U.S. production to China. It originated with a conservative blogger, who twisted an accurate news story into a falsehood. Then it picked up steam when the Drudge Report ran with it. Even though Jeep's parent company gave a quick and clear denial, Mitt Romney repeated it and his campaign turned it into a TV ad.

And they stood by the claim, even as the media and the public expressed collective outrage against something so obviously false.

"Public expressed collective outrage"? That's essentially wishcasting on the part of PolitiFact, nor are they accurately representing what Mitt Romney said in the ad. In fact, here's PolitiFact's original "fact check" on the matter:

[Mitt Romney] Says Barack Obama "sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China" at the cost of American jobs.

Ok. Now here's what the Reuters reported earlier this week:

Fiat (FIA.MI) and its U.S. unit Chrysler expect to roll out at least 100,000 Jeeps in China when production starts in 2014 as they seek to catch up with rivals in the world's biggest car market. ...

"We expect production of around 100,000 Jeeps per year which is expandable to 200,000," [Chrysler CEO Sergio] Marchionne, who is also CEO of Chrysler, said on the sidelines of a conference, adding production could start in 18 months.

So, yes, it's confirmed that Jeep will be producing cars in China.

I hope all those "concerned citizens" who voted for A LIER IN CHIEF are proud of their stupidity. It is going hurt like hell when the bite in the a$$ catches up with you.

Unfortunately our guys never come back at them and refute these lies. They just let them repeat the lies over and over. We need Conservatives that will stand up to these commies.

amen, wedo not need 2 Democratcommunists parties.

The liberal marxists and their useful idiots do not care about the truth.

That was Romney's biggest down fall...no support from the republican party.

Obummer does not want all the taxpayer's dollars, he just wants their LAST dollars. Soon he will be asking the question "are you sure thats all the dollars you've got?"

It does not matter to matter what Romney or any other Conservative does or doesn't do as the votes are fixed and we there doesn't seem to be the will or know-how to stop the massive voter fraud before or after it happens.

Get involved in True the Vote

Yeah kick the lying lowdown cheating SOB As*hole Sorry piece of Shi*out of the united States. Now that is the good pointsI hope I dont really get mad at him or I may say somthing nasty.

This just goes to show you that Sarah Palin had larger balls than any one in the Republican Party!

Sorry you missed that lesson in high school Human Anatomy, but girls DON"T have "balls"! They have more character than that. Tesosterone is no more than a bodily chemical!

I greatly admire Sarah Palin, eventhough she does not have the "perfect family" , she has more integrity than ALL of Obamas' campaign team combined, that and trippled! Include Obama and the Democrats in Congress in that count.

She is a smart, resourceful person that has managed to hold public office, maintain a household, raise a family, and campaign for Vice President! She is exactly who we need in Washington. Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman would make a good team. Go get'm, girls!

Let's start by abolishing the Electoral College or at least changing it to "One State-One Vote".  Then let's outlaw ALL electronic voting machines and replace them with Paper ballots that not only will give you a certified copy but also requires a fingerprint on the ballot after a Photo I.D. is presented.  Next let's pass legislation making coviction of voter fraud punishable by a MANDATORY 10 years in prison with no possibility of parole. Then listen to the Liberals and MSM scream bloody murder.  That's how you'll know it works.

Horrible: Democrats Set The Constitution On Fire With Fraudulent Impeachment

House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning after an investigation that violated fundamental provisions of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The investigation of the president began with the complaint of a so-called “whistleblower” who turned out to be a rogue Central Intelligence Agency employee, protected by a lawyer who had called for a “coup” against Trump in early 2017.

Democrats first demanded that the “whistleblower” be allowed to testify. But after House Intelligence Committee chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was found to have lied about his committee’s contact with the “whistleblower,” and after details of the “whistleblower’s” bias began to leak, Democrats reversed course. In violation of the President Trump’s Sixth Amendment right to confront his accuser, Democrats refused to allow the “whistleblower” to testify. They argue the president’s procedural rights, even if they existed, would not apply until he was tried in the Senate — but they also invented a fraudulent “right to anonymity” that, they hope, might conceal the whistleblower even then.

Schiff began the “impeachment inquiry” in secret, behind the closed doors of the Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility (SCIF) in the basement of the U.S. Capitol, even though none of the testimony was deemed classified. Few members of Congress were allowed access. Schiff allowed selective bits of testimony to leak to friendly media, while withholding transcripts of testimony.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), having allowed the secret process to unfold, legitimized it with a party-line vote authorizing the inquiry. The House resolution denied President Trump the procedural rights enjoyed by Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, and denied the minority party the traditional right to object to witnesses called by the majority.

Rather than the House Judiciary Committee, which traditionally handles impeachment, Pelosi also deputized the House Intelligence Committee to conduct fact-finding; the Judiciary Committee was turned into a rubber stamp. Schiff held a few public hearings, but often failed to release transcripts containing exculpatory evidence until after they had passed.

In the course of the Intelligence Committee’s investigation, Schiff quietly spied on the telephone records of his Republican counterpart, Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA). He also snooped on the phone records of a journalist, John Solomon; and on the phone records of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, acting as President Trump’s personal lawyer.

Schiff’s eavesdropping violated both the First Amendment right to press freedom and the Sixth Amendment right to counsel. Yet he proceeded undeterred by constitutional rights, publishing the phone logs in his committee’s report without warning, confirmation, or explanation, alleging that Nunes and the others were part of a conspiracy to assist the president’s allegedly impeachable conduct. When Republicans on the Judiciary Committee asked the Intelligence Committee’s majority counsel, Daniel Goldman, to explain the phone logs, he refused to answer,

Ironically, Schiff had done exactly what Democrats accuse Trump of doing: abused his power to dig up dirt on political opponents, then obstructed a congressional investigation into his party’s and his committee’s misconduct.

Democrats’ articles of impeachment include one for the dubious charge of “abuse of power,” which is not mentioned in the Constitution; and one for “obstruction of Congress,” which in this case is an abuse of power in itself.

Alexander Hamilton, writing about impeachment in Federalist 65, warned that “there will always be the greatest danger that the decision will be regulated more by the comparative strength of parties, than by the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt.” Democrats have fulfilled Hamilton’s worst fears.

The Trump impeachment will soon replace the 1868 impeachment of President Andrew Johnson — which the House Judiciary Committee staff actually cited as a positive precedent — as the worst in American history.

In service of their “coup,” Democrats have trampled the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Republic has never been in greater danger.

You don't get to interrupt me
