Are we witnessing the beginning of the end for the United States of America? All great nations eventually fall, and the United States is not going to be any exception. Many of those that write about the decline of our once great country tend to focus on externalthreats, and there are certainly many that could be talked about. But perhaps even more ominous is the internal societal meltdown that we see happening all around us. Accordingto Real Clear Politics, recent surveys show that 67 percent of Americans believe that the country is on the wrong track, and only 26 percent of Americans believe that it is headed in the right direction. So even though we are tremendously divided as to what the solutions are, the vast majority of us can see that something is deeply, deeply wrong with America.
Personally, I spend a lot of time writing about our economic problems. We have piled up the largest mountain of debt in the history of the planet, last year the middle class became a minority for the first time in our history, and 47 percent of all Americans couldn’t even pay an unexpected $400 emergency room bill without borrowing the money or selling something. But I don’t want to focus on economics in this article.
Neither do I plan to focus on our political problems. The fact that somewhere around half the country plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in November shows just how far gone we are as a nation. And the Republican Party is essentially just a watered-down version of the Democrats at this point. On average, Congress has just a 14.5 percent approval rating, and yet we keep sending the same corrupt politicians back to Washington D.C....
What in the world is wrong with us?
Physically we are a giant mess too. According to USA Today, the obesity rate in the United States has more than doubled over the past 25 years, and the OECD has found that the U.S. has the most overweight population in the entire industrialized world by a wide margin.
But our physical problems are not going to be the focus of this article either.
Instead, I want to focus on what is going on inside our heads and inside our hearts. I want to focus on our mental, emotional and spiritual problems.
Alvin Conway of The Extinction Protocol has been chronicling global disasters for years, and he has just posted an insightful piece in which he comments on the growing social decay that we see all around us…
According to Covenant Eyes, an internet search group, 1 out of 5 mobile searches on the internet involves pornography. Illegal drugs continue to be both manufactured and transported into the U.S. with no apparent way of halting or stopping the flow. In the US alone, more than 15 million people abuse prescription drugs, more than the combined number of people who reportedly abuse cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants and heroin. If the war against drugs can’t be won, what luck will we ever have winning the war on terror? Does anyone remember who won Lyndon B. Johnson’s famed war on poverty? Regardless, let’s throw some more taxpayers’ money at an issues that money along can’t fix.
Later in his article, Conway goes on to link this social decay with the spiritual decline of our nation…
According to Pew Forum, the number of people who claim to be religious in America is declining as the country becomes more and more secular. “Research Center finds that the percentage of adults (ages 18 and older) who describe themselves as Christians has dropped by nearly eight percentage points in just seven years, from 78.4% in an equally massive Pew Research survey in 2007 to 70.6% in 2014. Over the same period, the percentage of Americans who are religiously unaffiliated – describing themselves as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular” – has jumped more than six points, from 16.1% to 22.8%.” The U.S. is beginning to look more and more like ancient Rome before it collapsed.
I agree with Conway. America is starting to look more and more like the Roman Empire just before it collapsed.
I am 65 and am on one drug and that is a thyroid drug due to Lyme disease...I aint depressed I am PISSED! One piss-off for the assholes that brought that Nazi tick guy to Plum, and the other that allowed the Nazi jew Soros here...
PISSED beyond words.
lol - Jim
being pissed is now diagnosed as an anxiety problem, and they prescribe the same pills for that as for depression. I know, it happened to me when the idiot doctor thought my asking for muscle relaxers because office politics was pissing me off, which tightened my neck muscles for maybe hours, which irritated a newly herniated disc a lot - was better treated by going after my 'anxiety' with a psychotropic drug. -- once I figured that out I was REALLY PISSED !
The majority of Americans don't even research the candidate before they vote. They vote by word of mouth i like so and so because they are going to give me free everything. In reality they have no clue that the only way you get something for free is you pay for it first!Taxes on everything goes up,prices on everything goes up to cover the taxes ,and your pay never increases so you paid for the free stuff you got so how the heck is anything free?Americas education system is turning out some really ignorant people who vote for some really ignorant people.just look at the last 8 years!
I don't know if our downfall is imminent but I do agree that our nation is in terrible shape in all forms.
If the ammoral corrupt downslide continues unabated, or worse accelerates, our downfall will happen.
Yes the country has decayed like the Romans. The unbelievers fear God more than so called believers.
R. Fred H. Maybe you should start a discussion forum based on your paper and your strategies. Many of us, I am sure, would want to hear what you have to say.
90% of this George Soros...he is the S stirrer and cash flow guy...the other 10% is the rinos.
There is much glee on the Senate gavel being sent over this morning I’m sure. There will also be myriad spilled electronic (and print) ink on the “mandate” with regard to Obamacare repeal and similar.
Folks, keep one thing in mind, as I noted on WBAL yesterday — Obamacare could have been destroyed “at will” by the Republicans at any time since all spending must originate in the House. As a result since the Republicans have held the House since the first midterm of Obama’s Presidency they could have at any time stopped it by refusing to pass the appropriation necessary to fund it. They could have also cut off the runaway spending and thus the deficit at any time via exactly the same means, never mind the 2011 debt ceiling “fight” when an immediate and permanent end to deficit spending, and the destruction of your purchasing power that it causes, could have occurred simply by the Republicans refusing to pass a bill — that is, refusing to act instead of acting.
There was utterly nothing that Obama or the Democrats could have done about either, and Boehner, along with the Republicans, proved beyond rebuttal that they didn’t give a damn about either at that point as well.
You’re about to be lied to again about the “change” that will “come” to America. What’s going to change is only who is going to screw you — not whether you’ll get screwed, and it will still come without warning or lube just as it did yesterday.
Now be a good serf and find a new stick for your teeth so you don’t bite your tongue off; the old one is dangerously compromised from all the abuse it’s taken over the previous six years.
The American people have been impoverished under both Parties over the last several decades; arguably since even 1913 when a private organization took control of our currency. What has changed that will make this time different?
Perhaps the only thing we can hope for is that the velocity at which we are being robbed and our Constitution dismantled will be slower than what’s it’s been over the last six years.
Two heads. Same snake.
