Tyranny of the minority: How the most sinister trend of our age is a poisonous conviction taking root on the Left and among the elite that ordinary people are too stupid to be trusted with voting

Image result for trump brexitBack in the 18th century, political reformer Henry Fox was advocating giving the vote to more people. But only, he insisted, to what he called ‘the better sort’. Not ‘the mob or the mere dregs of the people’. Heaven forbid!

Now, in the 21st century, such derogatory sentiments about ‘the people’ are dangerously back in fashion — ever since they dared vote for Brexit in Britain, and for Donald Trump in the United States.

Questions are being asked in high places about whether ordinary voters are fit to make decisions on major issues.

As a result, democracy — the cornerstone of our way of life — is being undermined, its very survival put at risk. Its modern enemies are mustering from all corners — but most worryingly from the Left, the very area where its stoutest defenders should be.

As a long-standing person of the Left, I fear that democratic freedoms are now in danger of being abandoned as elitists in our midst attempt to restrict them.

Every serious politician and thinker declares his or her belief in democracy. Yet, in practice, they seek to separate power from the people. The mantra has become ‘I’m a democrat, of course, but …’

Over Brexit, this profoundly insidious attitude was exemplified by John Major, former Tory prime minister, who denied the referendum result was binding and declared: ‘The tyranny of the majority has never applied in a democracy.’

Some of us might naively have imagined that majority rule was the very essence of democracy. But not, it seems, when millions vote against the wishes of a tiny political elite.

was, of course, George Orwell in his 1945 novel Animal Farm, who described how ‘All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.’

Fast-forward to today and we find many Remainers similarly convinced that anyone who voted to leave the EU is too stupid to have the vote. The response was the same in America when voters failed to elect Hillary Clinton.

Trump’s victory, one U.S. professor declared, was ‘the dance of the dunces’, the result of ‘uneducated, low-information white people’ being given the vote. He added: ‘Democracy is supposed to enact the will of the people. But what if the people have no clue what they’re doing?’

The fury against the 17.4 million UK voters who dared to back Brexit — and the 62 million Americans who had the temerity to vote for Trump — brings frightening anti-democratic poisons bubbling to the surface of our societies.

The sheer bile that erupted from political and cultural elites in Britain after the Brexit vote revealed a deep-seated contempt for the people and for democracy. The Establishment reacted as if the ground had disappeared from beneath their feet. How could this have happened?

Why is it that so many people, educated people with degrees in fact, insist that we are a democracy?

We are not.

History reveals that the founders were carefully avoiding such a government since they knew that they all failed, and that the majority was never known to constantly exercise restraint or even intelligence when voting for leaders. Jefferson plainly said so.

A Representative Republic was thought to be the best form of government that man could devise, and even that had to be restricted, as the Constitution was designed to do just that.

And now, since Clinton lost, the DNC thinks those who voted for Trump are the stupid and contemptible ones, and it is the fault of the inherent weakness of a democracy that allowed it all to occur. That is stupid beyond belief. We don't have a democracy so how could it have failed?

If we were a democracy Clinton would be president since she obtained the majority vote. Never mind if it was legal or not.  So, what is it that failed?

They did.  And they cannot face it.

Well Said ! The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic with laws ! The United States of America is not a democracy with mob rule. If it was a ture democracy then the criminal hillary rotten clinton would be US President .

Excellent! So, let's not pretend we need to defend democracy or something like this. We the people have spoken, we the people have elected our great leader, Donald J Trump, who we want to rule over the country and her people in a supreme way, we the people don't want a democracy in which the majority of votes win. We the people want Trump to control the media and the facts presented to the people. We the people don't support a media that can say whatever it wants. Dissent and opposition to our president is poison to our Republic. Therefore, it has to be stopped. Let's hope that Trump can establish the kind or Republic again that doesn't tolerate any dissent or opposition.

And think about this.  The DNC rigged the nom election so that Hillary would win, therefore, if she had won the actual election she would be the ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT!!

Dale, perfect reply.....couldn't agree more with your points.

They complain about stupid voters, yet they want to have non-English speaking illegal non-citizens vote them into office.  I ask why would any rational thinking person who knows history of governments in the world want to be a Socialist Democrat?  It seems they only want to rule as an elite (as they believe they are) group who want all the power and all the money to belong only to themselves.  If they spew enough hate against people who believe is freedom of thought, and lifestyle written into the Constitution, they will control the thoughts, and votes of the indoctrinated masses.

Thank you Dale, Mob Rule is a "Democracy", Representative Govt is a Republic.

...a Mobocracy

And so why do people like Tucker Carlson repeatedly use the term "democracy"?

I Facebooked him to ask him to stop doing this and letting his guests get away with it, and he still does it. Really bothers me that even our side repeats that lie.

I am very upset over it, too. We are not a democracy and shouldn't call ourselves one. We are a Republic. Period. North Korean is officially called "Democratic People's Republic of Korea". We can have the same name but we need to drop "Democratic" unless we the people want to be like North Korea.

Plus, they all keep repeating the lie that judges write law. Lie of omission is just as bad as lie of commission.

the poison is in the left and they are dying from it

Angry Dem Impeachment ‘Witness’: Pam Karlan Donated Thousands To Hillary And Was On Clinton’s List For Potential SCOTUS Nomination

Image result for Pam Karlan

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jerrold Nadler, kicked off its first impeachment circus Wednesday morning.

The four ‘witnesses’ testifying have never actually witnessed any of Trump’s dealings with Ukraine firsthand — the four witnesses are law professors offering legal analysis.

One of the witnesses the Dems rolled out is an angry Hillary Clinton donor who was on Crooked’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination.

No wonder why this unhinged, dowdy woman is so pissed off!

“Professor Pam Karlan donated thousands of dollars to Democrats and was on Hillary Clinton’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination. So she certainly has no vendetta against President Trump,” GOP Rep. Mark Walker said.

Congressman Walker also pointed out that Noah Feldman, the Dems first partisan witness in Wednesday’s hearing tweeted about impeaching Trump right after he was sworn in.

Meet Noah Feldman, House Democrats first partisan witness.

Look at the date of this tweet. He has been trying to get @realDonaldTrump impeached since 46 days into his presidency.

His reason? Trump criticized President Obama.

This is a sham impeachment with sham witnesses. https://twitter.com/NoahRFeldman/status/839185127494254592

The next witness, Karlan, has donated thousands to Democrats and was on Hillary Clinton’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination.

So she certainly has no vendetta against @realDonaldTrump.

These witnesses are as serious as House Democrats impeachment case: not at all.

The entire sham show trial is stacked with partisan hacks who have wanted to impeach Trump from the moment he won in November of 2016.

Norm Eisen, the Democrats’ counsel who is blasting Trump and questioning witnesses in Wednesday’s show trial, tweeted about impeaching Trump before Donald Trump was even sworn into office!
