Most pundits and political professionals expect the GOP to have a good showing in the midterm elections. Historically, the opposition picks up seats in the 6th year of a President's tenure. Obama's approval ratings are at rock bottom and the ObamaCare rollout continues to cause headaches for Democrats. A number of incumbent Senators, who last won during Obama's wave election in 2008, face heavy headwinds in enough states to give Republicans control.

Yet, the GOP could still pull defeat from the jaws of victory. There are three very real risks that could jeopardize the party's potential gains. Unfortunately, the party seems to have set in motion at least one of them.

1. Alienate Conservative Voters.

Republicans in Washington are convinced the party needs to keep Tea Party conservatives "in line." Speaker Boehner won plaudits from the DC consultant class when he loudly criticized conservatives who were critical of a budget deal that increased spending. The US Chamber of Commerce has pledged to spend $50 million targeting conservatives in Republican primaries, including sitting members of Congress.

Much of this bluster by the political class is to distract from their epic failure in 2012. It was the second presidential election where the party nominated the more "moderate", electable candidate, only to see millions of conservative voters stay home on election. Party consultants spent nearly $1 billion and lost numerous winnable seats. The consultants want to blame conservatives, but far more establishment candidates went down to uninspiring defeat.

The word is "THROW" not blow.

Right on the button with this comment. My blue dog demonkrat congressman will not get my vote in November. There are some state offices I will vote on as I will not stay home but the House of Representatives seat will be left blank if Markwayne Mullin is the republikrat candidate. He has repeatedly stood with john Boehner and calls me an extremist and a radical for insisting he support Louie Gohmert and the TEA Party candidates. He only got elected in 2012 because he pledged to support the TEA Party agenda if elected. When both sides call me a radical extremist I really don't care who gets elected. One is as bad as the other. Those who will vote for the soros cabal might as well vote for the demonkrat candidates because a republikrat supporting Boehner is a demonkrat with an "R" behind its name.

Before 1982 I was a straight voting Democrat. In 1982 I began to realize there are no such things as real Democrats! They did not support Democracy back before 1982! This problem that they started to support was from the money thing and the International MOB! Look at NY City and NY State now as example. These elected idiots told Hannity he was not welcome in New York City or State. He is pro-life and pro-gun! Oh, we usually call this as being an American! What are they saying? They are telling Hannity that morals and responsibility they refuse to support!

How in any life are we not seeing that America is up fr grabs because of extreme moral decline and the support of those, by tax dollars, that refuse to be responsible for their own actions? Now we get the facts that we have been supporting illegals with our taxes for years! Obama wants more! Yet our honorable visa supporting legals have been rejected from our borders before this corrupt Communist President ever got in office. I know as my wife, who can speak better English than 99% of Americans, even kicked off the internet in scrabble for being a professional was refused as were 1000's of legally approved aliens! They sent 1000's home telling them they are not welcome! Why, they support our Constitution and Bill of Rights! Is a fact as I went through this having an alien wife who came with honor!

What can anyone expect when Liberals tell us that honor and integrity are religious, meaning they do not support these!

Amen!

Right on Van!!!

van Nolan, you are 100% correct.  They are all on the same team, "Team Satan."  All we get out of DC is a dog and pony show brought to us by the NWO crowd.

Right On Sir!!

The GOP won't do diddly and with BoehnHEAD at the helm... we're headed right for the REEFS !!!

For Sure!!! Do the True Conservatives have No Guts At All?? Greed & Fear can't Eat Them All Up??

You know this is all about blaming every stupid mistake by the elites on real conservatives.

I say the elites are wolves in sheep's clothing.

I've met Ted Cruz's Father. Both of them will hear, "Well done!" when they stand in front of Jesus Christ.

Cannot say that for the GOP leadership.

Do you know the GOP leadership is convinced queers (yes tell it like it is) make up at least 10% of the voting block and therefore must be granted all their wishes???

We have them in leadership positions here in Ohio's GOP. IT IS NOT NOW AND EVER WILL BE POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO GIVE GODLY ADVICE.  ABSOLUTE FOOLS.

The old man has a fire in him. He was here in town and I got to meet him.

Horrible: Democrats Set The Constitution On Fire With Fraudulent Impeachment

House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning after an investigation that violated fundamental provisions of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The investigation of the president began with the complaint of a so-called “whistleblower” who turned out to be a rogue Central Intelligence Agency employee, protected by a lawyer who had called for a “coup” against Trump in early 2017.

Democrats first demanded that the “whistleblower” be allowed to testify. But after House Intelligence Committee chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was found to have lied about his committee’s contact with the “whistleblower,” and after details of the “whistleblower’s” bias began to leak, Democrats reversed course. In violation of the President Trump’s Sixth Amendment right to confront his accuser, Democrats refused to allow the “whistleblower” to testify. They argue the president’s procedural rights, even if they existed, would not apply until he was tried in the Senate — but they also invented a fraudulent “right to anonymity” that, they hope, might conceal the whistleblower even then.

Schiff began the “impeachment inquiry” in secret, behind the closed doors of the Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility (SCIF) in the basement of the U.S. Capitol, even though none of the testimony was deemed classified. Few members of Congress were allowed access. Schiff allowed selective bits of testimony to leak to friendly media, while withholding transcripts of testimony.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), having allowed the secret process to unfold, legitimized it with a party-line vote authorizing the inquiry. The House resolution denied President Trump the procedural rights enjoyed by Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, and denied the minority party the traditional right to object to witnesses called by the majority.

Rather than the House Judiciary Committee, which traditionally handles impeachment, Pelosi also deputized the House Intelligence Committee to conduct fact-finding; the Judiciary Committee was turned into a rubber stamp. Schiff held a few public hearings, but often failed to release transcripts containing exculpatory evidence until after they had passed.

In the course of the Intelligence Committee’s investigation, Schiff quietly spied on the telephone records of his Republican counterpart, Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA). He also snooped on the phone records of a journalist, John Solomon; and on the phone records of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, acting as President Trump’s personal lawyer.

Schiff’s eavesdropping violated both the First Amendment right to press freedom and the Sixth Amendment right to counsel. Yet he proceeded undeterred by constitutional rights, publishing the phone logs in his committee’s report without warning, confirmation, or explanation, alleging that Nunes and the others were part of a conspiracy to assist the president’s allegedly impeachable conduct. When Republicans on the Judiciary Committee asked the Intelligence Committee’s majority counsel, Daniel Goldman, to explain the phone logs, he refused to answer,

Ironically, Schiff had done exactly what Democrats accuse Trump of doing: abused his power to dig up dirt on political opponents, then obstructed a congressional investigation into his party’s and his committee’s misconduct.

Democrats’ articles of impeachment include one for the dubious charge of “abuse of power,” which is not mentioned in the Constitution; and one for “obstruction of Congress,” which in this case is an abuse of power in itself.

Alexander Hamilton, writing about impeachment in Federalist 65, warned that “there will always be the greatest danger that the decision will be regulated more by the comparative strength of parties, than by the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt.” Democrats have fulfilled Hamilton’s worst fears.

The Trump impeachment will soon replace the 1868 impeachment of President Andrew Johnson — which the House Judiciary Committee staff actually cited as a positive precedent — as the worst in American history.

In service of their “coup,” Democrats have trampled the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Republic has never been in greater danger.

You don't get to interrupt me
