Trump transition team for Energy Department seeks names of employees involved in climate meetings

Donald Trump’s transition team has issued a list of 74 questions for the Energy Department, asking agency officials to identify which employees and contractors have worked on forging an international climate pact as well as domestic efforts to cut the nation’s carbon output.

The questionnaire requests a list of those individuals who have taken part in international climate talks over the past five years and “which programs within DOE are essential to meeting the goals of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan.”

Trump and his team have vowed to dismantle specific aspects of Obama’s climate policies, and Trump has questioned the reality of climate change. The questionnaire, which one Energy Department official described as unusually “intrusive” and a matter for departmental lawyers, has raised concern that the Trump transition team is trying to figure out how to target the people, including civil servants, who have helped implement policies under Obama.

Thousands of scientists have signed petitions calling on the president-elect and his team to respect scientific integrity and refrain from singling out individual researchers whose work might conflict with the new administration’s policy goals. This potential clash could prompt a major schism within the federal government, with many career officials waging a battle against incoming political appointees.

While there have been many instances of political appointees and career scientists clashing in various administrations, what is novel is the request for the names of so many individual scientists, and the fact that it comes during the transition period, before the Trump administration has even taken power. This may be a signal of even more intense politicization after the inauguration.

Yale University environmental historian Paul Sabin said in an interview that previous administrations have worked to install like-minded energy and environmental experts in key agencies, often at the expense of employees from previous administrations.

YEAH..., kind of like Welfare and the Democrats.....!!

Root them out and then throw them out!

There can be little doubt that the whole earth is going through climate changes, natural cycle or man caused is not really the question because there are very few things we can do about it.

This we know, the creation and use of ANY energy source causes heat emissions and pollution of the air and obviously, the rain and snow, therefore the rivers, lakes and oceans.

The approach of any thing for the almighty dollar does, is and has caused many a cases of severe, long lasting pollution and loss of life, both wild and human.

We must, for the sake of life on earth and future generations, resist the powers  that be from exploiting any resource if it will cause environmental hazardous changes for humans and wildlife of ALL species.

All the gold on earth can not replace our environment.

Trump must be held to rigid protection of the earths environment. Period !

W ... there are already on the books enough stringent protective laws for air, water and soils. Anthropomorphic climate change is a ludicrous idea that simply is not supported by ANY of the laws of physics or chemistry.

While it is true that human actions can, and have, poisoned specific areas and adversely affected waters flowing through the affected areas it is simply not possible -- short of simultaneously popping all the nuclear weapons ever made -- to cause ANY change in global climate or even a major weather event.

What we need to do is enforce actual, science-based environmental laws and toss out politically & ideologically driven laws & regulations. That's the starting point. Then we need to take a close look at the charters of DoE and EPA -- eventually removing their rule-making authority and relegating them to advisory organizations (if we keep them at all), which may suggest/propose laws (never a punitive regulation) to Congress; then require members of Congress to pass or reject the proposals by voice vote, and then require a presidential signature to bring the proposal into law. That's how we hold the government accountable.

Finally, the US must act unilaterally or at most bilaterally with our immediate neighbors, to protect our lands-waters and air. Laws already on the books are sufficient for that purpose. Under no circumstances should the US be held accountable or responsible for any other part of the world nor should we enter into or participate in UN-sponsored agreements of any kind; and particularly those dealing with the environment and our national sovereignty.

W, that is a load of bovine scatology!!!!!  if We the People wanted environmental Nazis to continue we would have voted for one of them instead of voting for liberty from Nazis!!!!!  "c;limate change" was happening long before modern energy came about.  the ice age came and went in prehistoric times, when man barely knew what fire was.  and the top ten world pollution sites are all in other countries, not the U S A.  take your alarmist crap and tell it to those actually doing the polluting!!!!!

OK, here's the REAL solution:

Since almost nothing DoE does is supported by Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution, CLOSE DoE and eliminate ALL the bureaucrats- Alarmists or otherwise.  Voila!  No need to pick and choose who to cut. And as for those nuclear bomb functions currently being done by DoE staff, well, move them over to DoD- a constitutional department. That's where they belong, anyway.

the "climate change" Nazis need to be fired and the entire department needs to be dismantled.  it is not a function allowed by the Constitution but is rather an arm of the dictatorial nwo despots!!!!

these slime balls have it coming to them.

Whomsoever it may concern; No one is advocating pollution if they expose the Climate Change Ponzi scheme. The Climate Change scam was ultimately contrived to defeat capitalism. It's designed (masked by the perception of caring for the environment) to control the private and industrial community through regulations.

I could go much deeper, but I don't need to lecture this astute choir. We get it!

President insults leftists during social media summit

The president made reference to the Antifa attack on gay Asian journalist Andy Ngo in Portland last month.

“Do you ever notice they pick on certain people?” asked Trump.

"Did you ever notice they don't come after Bikers For  Trump?"@realDonaldTrump calls out ANTIFA for the wussies that they are.

“He would tell you he’s not the toughest person physically in the world – they don’t go after Bikers For Trump, you ever notice that, they don’t go after our construction workers who love us, they don’t go after the police,” he added.

Trump went on to further insult far-leftists, joking, “They live in the basement of their mom’s home,” while asserting that they all had skinny arms.

“But they have the black masks on and they have sticks, they hit people in the face, in the head.”

“But you ever notice Antifa’s never there when we have a bikers rally….they’re never around, they’re always there when you have a single guy protesting in front of a school,” said Trump.

Trump then made reference to his administration’s move to withdraw federal funding from educational institutions that don’t allow free speech on campus.
