Sharpton Promises ‘Season of Civil Disobedience’ in Response to Sessions Nomination

National Action Network president Rev. Al Sharpton promised a “season of civil disobedience” in reaction to the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) for attorney general in the Trump administration.

Sharpton, an MSNBC host, said activists have planned a march in Washington on Jan. 14 during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend to protest the Sessions nomination. Sharpton recalled spending 90 days in jail for protesting on U.S. Navy land against military exercises on the island of Vieques in 2001 when George W. Bush was president, adding that civil disobedience usually works because it changes policy.

“We’re not just doing this to be doing it. We do it because it can lead to change and, believe me, there will be a season of civil disobedience particularly around the Sessions nomination,” he said Friday on a conference call with other civil rights organizations’ leaders such as Cornell William Brooks, president and CEO of the NAACP, and Janet Murguia, president and CEO of the National Council of La Raza.

The political activists on the call said Sessions has a poor record on issues such as civil rights, immigrant rights and LGBT rights. The activists said Sessions’ confirmation hearing should be delayed so a more thorough review of Sessions’ record can be conducted. Brooks focused most of his criticism of Sessions on voting rights in particular.

“Senator Sessions, over the course of many years, his support for voting rights has been a matter of vacillating between indifference and out-and-out hostility,” said Brooks. “He has not acknowledged the reality of voter suppression while loudly in faith of voter ID laws predicated on the myth of voter fraud.”

Brooks criticized Sessions for supporting a voter ID law in Alabama.

“This is not the kind of person we need to serve as attorney general,” he said.

Sharpton said civil rights activists must remind senators that the nation is “watching” how they vote on Sessions' nomination. He pondered how the government could justify having Sessions follow Eric Holder, the nation’s first African-American attorney general, and Loretta Lynch, the nation’s first African-American female attorney general.

About time to open the old Patriot can of wup ass and show this race bating bastard who he's dealing with. His guest key for the rainbow house has been revoked. You want a fight fatsss bigmouth. I can take a few days from my busy schedule to shove my boot up your ass. With pleasure!

Wasn't good ol' Al going to MOVE OUT OF THE U.S.  if Trump were elected?????

And what about his unpaid tax bill????  Maybe President elect Trump will follow up on that.  Personally, I could care less if he never pays it - IF HE LEAVES THE U.S. TO NEVER RETURN!!!

I have come to the conclusion that the only way American will start healing racially, is when these OLD race baiters are gone.  At one time or another, everything has relevance, but endorsing and turning your head on the "MURDER" of Police Officers, and NEVER ending demand for civil rights, when CIVIL RIGHTS ARE NOT A ONE WAY STREET!  You see Sharpton and the like bask in their spotlight by preaching unrest and unfairness, and that means keeping the pot boiling and lucky for them, they have had the WH blessing to keeping the kettle boiling for the past EIGHT LONG YEARS!!!!!

I wish it was only the OLD race baiters, but in addition to them, there are an even larger number of young black racists.  Just go to the black Tennessee State University and spend some time.

Yup, and then he said he was..................kidding

NOBODY CARES WHAT THIS FOOTBALL STUCK ON A TOOTHPICK SAYS ANYMORE.

Sharpton and Jessie Jackemup call themselves Reverends but they are nothing but marxist agitators. They can practice Liberation Theology [which barely makes a passing mention from the Bible] and make people think they are of noble character and good pastors and all but they are the ones that foment the riots that burn the cities that destroy the industry of hard working Americans.

FOOL!!!

Not only do we have sharpton/jackson/obama trying to brainwash the blacks, liberals, and white-guilt idiots....  Now the teachers unions will be brainwashing kids against Trump:

Brainwash Children Against Trump and Brexit, Top Education Mag Tells Teachers

“Lies” were responsible for the electoral success of Donald Trump and Brexit, and the role of teachers is to push students towards “progressive rebellion”, according to a piece in this week’s TES.

Writing in the weekly magazine for educators, which was formerly known as the Times Educational Supplement, Oliver Beach called victories for populism at the ballot box last year “frightening” and said teachers must counter the “post-truth” climate from which he claims they resulted.

Beach, who appeared on the BBC show ‘Tough Young Teachers’ before quitting the profession, cites “post-truth politics” as “the most frightening development” of the last year.

Asserting that the decisions of “naive voters” to opt for Trump and Brexit were “based on lies”, citing the property tycoon’s campaign promise to build a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, Beach said educators must prepare students to ‘empower and encourage’ young people to “challenge and question” right-wing politics.

The former reality TV star said he fears teachers have become “complacent” in believing progressive politics will continue sweeping the West, and warned of “pitchfork”-wielding right wingers who support a “narrative of pro-guns, anti-gays, limiting women’s reproductive rights and building physical national borders”.

Educators should be prepared to combat a “reactionary counter-revolution”, Beach cautioned, stating that (unspecified) rhetoric from the president-elect had the power to “divide, terrorise, outrage and exclude”. If unchallenged, he warned that populist victories at the ballot box would give “new momentum to those with similar views here and across Western democracies”.

“The next world leader is sitting in a classroom today”, he noted, and asserted that teachers’ role of “curating minds” at this time in history “could not be more important”.

The world “[doesn’t] need more Donald Trumps, Nigel Farages or Marine Le Pens”, the former educator wrote. Instead, he concludes, teachers should prime children to become “Martin Luther Kings, Harvey Milks and Rosa Parks”.

Though Beach claims Trump’s pledge to erect a wall is an example of “post-truth politics”, one-third of the world’s countries have built or are now in the process of building fences on their borders, as physical barriers become an increasingly popular way of excluding illegal migrants.

ALERT ALERT

SWEET: Republican Representative Introduces Resolution To Expel Nancy Pelosi From Congress

Louisiana Republican Rep. Ralph Abraham has introduced legislation to expel Speaker Nancy Pelosi from the House of Representatives.

Abraham’s resolution accuses Pelosi of a “vicious crusade” against President Donald Trump.

Above: Rep. Ralph Abraham

“Nancy Pelosi’s vicious crusade against our lawfully-elected President is nothing more than a politically-motivated witch hunt and it must be stopped,” Abraham said in a statement obtained by Fox News. “She has disgraced the people’s House and weaponized the Speaker’s gavel for her party’s political gain.”

“House Democrats spent nearly three years obsessed with election meddling only to dwarf any such efforts with their own deceitful plan to nullify the 2016 election and prevent President Trump from winning in 2020,” the statement continued. “I have introduced a resolution calling for her to be expelled from the House and for the Speaker’s Office to be vacated.”

The text of the resolution, which is most definitely not going to pass the Democrat-controlled House reads: “Resolved, That pursuant to Article 1, Section 5, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution, Representative Nancy Pelosi be, and she hereby is, expelled from the House of Representatives and the Office of the Speaker is declared to be vacant.”

Fox News notes that constitutional clause holds that “Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.”
