A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) partnered with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to pass a comprehensive immigration bill that would grant citizenship to millions of illegal aliens.

That was then – a little over a year ago. Today, in an interview with Breitbart News, the Florida Republican berated President Obama for considering unilateral amnesty, shifted cleanly against “comprehensive” reform, and said the U.S. shouldn't even debate citizenship for illegal aliens until the border is secure.

“I continue to believe our system needs to be reformed and I’ve learned in the last year that because of such an incredible distrust of the federal government no matter who’s in charge, the only way you’re going to be able to deal with this issue is by first securing the border and ensuring that illegal immigration is under control,” Rubio told me.
A likely candidate presidential candidate in 2016, Rubio sent Obama a letter Tuesday outlining his break from a comprehensive approach to the problem – pairing border security with a years-long path for illegal aliens to eventually obtain citizenship.

He also told the president to back off from a rumored plan to expand unilateral amnesty, awarded in 2012 to individuals who came to the U.S. illegally as minors, to as many as five million people.

Don't have much Faith in people, who change their minds, cannot figure what side they are on, go where the winds blow or just plain "Flip-Flop".       Rubio, you cannot play both sides, and expect anyone, to trust your credibility, so which side are you really on?     Today?       People sitting on fences usually end up falling off breaking their necks. Tootthpaste out of tube, exposure acknowledged.

I wish Rubio well but when it comes to the goals of the Rinos vs the goals of the people he must go with the Rino instructions or else they will destroy him. He knows that and has to play their game. The democrat party is now the communist party. No flag, No GOD, No country, No kids and they sell dope for tax revenue.

The Rino elete are now the democrat party. Their is only one party left to protect the land we love.

More tea anybody?

The only pathway to citizenship must be routed through their native country to get in line with their fellow citizens that would like to legally immigrate to the USA.

90 billion dollars per year for illegals on welfare and social services.  3 million per day for illegals incarcerated in jails and prisons.  12 billion per year for illegals in primary and secondary education who cannot speak English.  17 billion per year for education for anchor babies.  22 billion per year on illegals for food assistance, wic, food stamps and free lunches.

I thought I read some where that neither one of Rubio's parents were citizens when he was born. They later became naturalized citizens. I don't think he can run for President because of this. He is not a natural born citizen if neither of his parents were citizens at the time of his birth.

Careful - a tiger doesn't usually change stripes in mid-stream - UNLESS there is an agenda.

So I would be very skeptical of this possible "ruse".  Don't trust these guys - all Congress people should be "regular people" (not deceitful attorney's like what we have) We NEED regular Americans who work for a living, and have callouses on their hands !!!   - like teachers, handymen, factory CEO's, electricians, former soldiers, sports coaches, and others,  with (hopefully) some common sense and a strong love for our country, our Constitution, and for our liberty.  Vote smart.

Kick 'em all out, and let's start from scratch !!!!

Agree with you Doc...!

You tell em Marco.

However, even though we may need Immigration reform, we DO NOT need complete Amnesty and that will HURT you in ANY election. I LIKE you and considered you for Prez until I read that.

Close the Borders, then lets talk. Oure biggest mitsake on Immigration reform came when we chose to start educating ALL illegals. Thats when everything went down hill. In the late 80's with reagans plan of giving out work visa's worked pretty well. People came accross in the morning and went home in the afternoons, i KNOW. I saw it almost everyday for over 3 years. You could ride I-10 in El Paso at 7 am and you would see the illegals takingtheir rafts or whatever accross the rio grande and running accross I-10 to their jobs and come back at 5pm and you would see them going back. Why NOT have the same thing instead of flat amnesty? Look, I've always felt we wanted and needed some migrant people coming accross. however, we DO NOT have the fields for them to do anymore or most of that is gone because of technology. Most of the jobs they are taking are construction jobs, something MOST americans earn a living at. Thye JOBS thew majority are taking are American Jobs today. Its NOT like it used to be where they all worked the fields, very few work the fields anymore or take jobs that americans wont work, not at all. The Jobs most americans wont do are minimal now.

Rubio is now trying to save his bacon after making the disastrous double-crossing mistake of pushing amnesty after Tea Parties elected him. He is toast, walking dead and doesn't acknowledge it.

The days of the "Bracero" (late '40s to late '60s) are dead and gone.  In 1953, Eisenhower signed the act that rounded up a million illegals and sent them back.  The Bracero program continued but bringing the family with them was not in the cards, or in the Act.  So, many of the Braceros (men) met women and had families in the US.  That is the basis for most of the Legal Hispanics in this Country, today.

Someone probably knows better than I the time limit for Braceros to stay in the Country... I think it might have been three years.  It was a good program but didn't have the proper enforcement to keep it on the tracks.  The program became corrupt... corrupted by the very people it helped.. the farmers.  And then, the liberals started using the "poor" Bracero for Political fodder...California Dems produced that one, and still are.  You can look at California and see a vision of the US future.

If this is the future you want, join the Democratic Party, because you are the problem.  All of the Parties have a platform that is an evolutionary process and it changes according to the direction of the wind... all of them.  Vote with your heart and mind, not your wallet.

One incentive for the people to return to their country after the end of their stay with the Bracero program was that part of the persons wages were returned to mexico to be collected when the bracero returned home.

The money was paid to mexico - and surprise - promptly vanished.

Hey David, good points.  Mexifornia is a large part of America's bread basket and has, by itself, some 3 MILLION ILLEGAL aliens.  Estimates are that a maximum of about 900,000 are needed for agriculture, and many of those wouldn't be needed with, as you pointed out, more automation.
The rest aren't gardeners or nannies, just look at the jails.  It was stated that latino gangs are the greatest organized threat to the United States; about half of these gangs are ILLEGAL aliens.
Cesar Chavez, that the corrupt"O"crats trot out as a latino success story, hated ILLEGALS.  He knew that anytime you had an unlimited flow of ILLEGAL aliens willing to work for low wages, no one could make a living wage.  BTW, labor accounts for 6% of the cost of produce; so that $1 head of lettuce would only cost 6 ¢ more if you doubled the pay to labor.  Not the $5 for lettuce threatened if you didn't have ILLEGAL labor.  Check immigrationcounters.com AND - REMEMBER in NOVEMBER

ALERT ALERT

Breaking — West Virginia Lawmakers Invite Persecuted Pro-Second Amendment Counties In Virginia To Join Their State

West Virginia lawmakers introduced legislation to invite persecuted pro Second Amendment Counties to join their state.

The West Virginia Senate adopted a resolution to remind Virginia residents from Frederick County that they have a standing invite — from 1862 — to become part of West Virginia.

West Virginia freedom fighters broke away from Virginia Democrat slave owners during the Civil War.

This week West Virginia has once again invited persecuted Virginia pro 2-A counties to come join their state.

Sounds like a winning plan!

Resolution 8 reads as follows:

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 8

(By Delegates Howell, Summers, Shott, Householder, C. Martin, Hott, Graves, Cadle, Barnhart, J. Jeffries, Maynard, Phillips, Foster, Hamrick, Steele, D. Jeffries, Wilson, Waxman, Bartlett, Paynter, Linville, Sypolt, Bibby, Hill, Ellington, Higginbotham, J. Kelly, Mandt, Pack, Dean and P. Martin)

[Introduced January 14, 2020]

Providing for an election to be had, pending approval of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a majority of qualified citizens voting upon the proposition prior to August 1, 2020, for the admission of certain counties and independent cities of the Commonwealth of Virginia to be admitted to the State of West Virginia as constituent counties, under the provisions of Article VI, Section 11 of the Constitution of West Virginia

Whereas, The Legislature of West Virginia finds that in 1863, due to longstanding perceived attitudes of neglect for the interests of the citizens of Western Virginia, and a studied failure to address the differences which had grown between the counties of Western Virginia and the government at Richmond, the Commonwealth of Virginia was irretrievably divided, and the new State of West Virginia was formed; and

Whereas, Such division occurred as the Trans-Allegheny portions of Virginia perceived that they suffered under an inequitable measure of taxation by which they bore a disproportionate share of the tax burden; and

Whereas, That this perception was further compounded by the effects of a scheme of representation by which Trans-Allegheny Virginia was not allowed to have its proper and equitable share of representation in the government at Richmond; and

Whereas, That this arrangement arguably resulted in the tax dollars of Trans-Allegheny Virginia being used to enrich the Tidewater through internal improvements which did not benefit the people of Western Virginia, while the people of the Trans-Allegheny had little to no say in how their tax dollars were allocated; and

Whereas, Though this course led to an irreconcilable division, and the subsequent formation of West Virginia, yet, the longstanding peaceful cooperation between this State and the Commonwealth of Virginia is a sign that such separation, undertaken even under the most challenging and onerous of circumstances, can, with the passage of time, yield lasting results which are beneficial to both sides; and

Whereas, In the intervening years, the same neglect for the interests of many of the remaining counties of the Commonwealth of Virginia has allegedly been evidenced by the government at Richmond; and

Whereas, Particularly, many citizens of the Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont contend that an inequitable measure of taxation exists by which they bear a disproportionate share of the present tax burden of the Commonwealth; and

Whereas, The people of the Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont also believe that, currently, a scheme of representation exists by which the citizens of Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont do not have a proper share of representation in the government at Richmond; and, consequently

Whereas, The people of the Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont believe that their tax dollars are used to enrich the Tidewater and Northern Virginia through internal improvements which do not benefit the people of these other parts of Virginia, while the people of these other parts of Virginia have little to no say in how their tax dollars are allocated; and

Whereas, In recent days, these tensions have been compounded by a perception of contempt on the part of the government at Richmond for the differences in certain fundamental political and societal principles which prevail between the varied counties and cities of that Commonwealth; and

Whereas, In the latest, and most evident, in this string of grievances, the government at Richmond now seeks to place intolerable restraints upon the rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution to the citizens of that Commonwealth; and

Whereas, The Legislative body of West Virginia believes that this latest action defies the wise counsel which has come down to us in the august words of our common Virginia Founders: as the government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of that tribune of liberty, Patrick Henry-who stated to the Virginia Ratifying Convention in 1788 that “The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun”; and

Whereas, The government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of a Signer of the Declaration and premier advocate of American independence, Richard Henry Lee-who stated in The Federal Farmer that “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms”; and

Whereas, The government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of that zealous guardian of our inherent rights, George Mason-who stated that “To disarm the people…[i]s the most effectual way to enslave them”; and

Whereas, The government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of the declaimer of our independence and theoretician of our freedoms, Thomas Jefferson-who stated in his first draft of the Virginia Constitution, that “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms”; and

Whereas, The Boards of Supervisors of many Virginia counties and the Councils of many Virginia cities have recognized this dangerous departure from the doctrine of the Founders on the part of the government at Richmond; and

Whereas, These Boards of Supervisors and Councils have passed resolutions refusing to countenance what they affirm are unwarranted and unconstitutional measures by that government to infringe the firearm rights of Virginians; and

Whereas, The actions of the government at Richmond undertaken since the recent general election have, regrettably, resulted in unproductive contention and escalating a lamentable state of civic tension; and

Whereas, That, as has been proven in numerous instances, such as have been observed internationally in more recent times with the peaceful dissolutions of Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union, and the creation of South Sudan, or, earlier in Virginia’s own history, with the formation of Kentucky, the peaceful partition of neighboring peoples can occur, and, is often very beneficial to both sides in reducing tensions and improving the tenor of discourse over ongoing political and societal differences; and

Whereas, Article VI, Section 11 of The Constitution of the State of West Virginia explicitly permits additional territory to be admitted into, and become part of this state, with the consent of the Legislature and of a majority of the qualified voters of the state; and

Whereas, In a spirit of conciliation, the Legislature of West Virginia hereby extends an invitation to our fellow Virginians who wish to do so, to join us in our noble experiment of 156 years of separation from the government at Richmond; and, we extend an invitation to any constituent county or city of the Commonwealth of Virginia to be admitted to the body politic of the State of West Virginia, under the conditions set forth in our state Constitution, specifically, with the consent of a majority of the voters of such county or city voting upon such proposition; and we hereby covenant that their many grievances shall be addressed, and, we further covenant with them that their firearms rights shall be protected to the fullest extent possible under our Federal and State Constitutions; and

Whereas, Providing that the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia shall give its assent to any county or independent city presently part of the Commonwealth of Virginia having the opportunity and ability to do so, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia.
