By Bob Woodward
In a new memoir, former defense secretary Robert Gates unleashes harsh judgments about President Obama’s leadership and his commitment to the Afghanistan war, writing that by early 2010 he had concluded the president “doesn’t believe in his own strategy, and doesn’t consider the war to be his. For him, it’s all about getting out.”
Leveling one of the more serious charges that a defense secretary could make against a commander in chief sending forces into combat, Gates asserts that Obama had more than doubts about the course he had charted in Afghanistan. The president was “skeptical if not outright convinced it would fail,” Gates writes in “Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War.”
Obama, after months of contentious discussion with Gates and other top advisers, deployed 30,000 more troops in a final push to stabilize Afghanistan before a phased withdrawal beginning in mid-2011. “I never doubted Obama’s support for the troops, only his support for their mission,” Gates writes.
This is why I did!
Also her girl friends Opra and whoopie cushion.
Unfortunately, with his rules of engagement and other hand tying policies, I have reason to doubt his support for the troops.
obummer's handlers have their hands full with him, he is a complete idiot.
No leadership, no honesty, no integrity and it began when he made campaign promises he planned on following through. Obama is obviously being controlled by third parties. He tried to make us believe he would get us out of the two wars, close down Guantanamo and hold government accountable by transparency. He did none of this.
If Robert Gates is so smart how come he didn't know he was working for a fraud and usurper going by the name of barack hussein obama ? Or did he know and just didn't care as long as he got his government pay check .
Exactly what I have been told about Obama as well. Been proclaiming that on radio and tv for over a year. Glad that Gates is coming out with truth as well.
His "mission" is to kill as many patriotic, courageous American warriors as possible by means of his "Islamic rules of engagement". Don't fire on the Muslims before you are dead!
I have a feeling our boys who are serving under Obamas men are going to follow the men they respect , like this gentleman !
The sack of shit! As an American, he should have brought this out in the beginning rather than to be so worried about his pension.
I will give Robert Gates the benefit of the doubt. Our troops and our nations interest were probably in safer hands with Gates there rather than another Obama appointee for that crucial stage of the war. But we need more of this kind of public revelation from those on the inside.
I say that we must let it be known that those who continue to participate now, only to write their book condemning this administration later, that they will be harshly criticized and themselves condemned.
Shouldn't this be enough for the military to seize power in Washington? I think so. Impeachment should be brought immediately. I believe Gates simply because he has placed his life in harms way and you wouldn't do that for a lie.
