Republicans kick National Review magazine out of February debate

An American conservative magazine found itself disinvited from co-sponsoring a presidential primary debate Thursday night after it published an entire issue devoted to tearing down Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

Speaking to during a press conference in Las Vegas, Trump dismissed the 60-year-old publication, National Review, as washed-up and irrelevant.

'Its circulation is way down. Not very many people read it anymore,' he said at the Venetian Hotel and Casino before making an appearance on stage at the Outdoor Sportsman Awards, where he accepted the endorsement of 'Duck Dynasty' star Willie Robertson.

'I mean, people don't even think about the National Review,' Trump said. 'So I guess they want to get a little publicity. But you know, it's a dying paper. It's pretty much – I've gotta tell you David, it's pretty much of a dead paper.'

the national review and other so called established republican stuffed shirts can blame trump all they want.....but it is the millions of people that are supporting him and growing...trump is not the problem.....the problem has been 8 years of Obama and a failed congress including the gop house that have been part of the Obama insanity...trump is nothing more than the end product of 8 years of failure by Obama and the congress...and we the know the people that are too stupid to know when they are been used and swindled by the power elites of the Washington Mafioso......but now we are getting our revenge by dumping the same stuffed shirted power brokers sitting in their fancy offices and draining our coffers with their spending habits, inside deals, lies and instead of writing about the illegal presidency of Hussein Obama and his continuous violations of the constitution....they instead attack...not trump...but those millions of supporters that are pissed off at the beltway bandits.

I once wrote a scathing post to the Tea Party regarding my views of the "National Review." I think I used words like, "disgusting, porn, hit-job, crass, smut." It was in regards to the article by Kevin Williamson called, "The Art of the Grotesque" regarding Donald Trump. Because of that sick article, I canceled my subscription and William Buckley started spinning in his grave.

You folk in the Tea Party did not get much better press from Mr. Williamson. In fact, you are "intellectually and morally stunted Oompa Loompas who have rallied to the candidacy of this grotesque charlatan - and are purportedly heterosexual men working up freestyle paeans to Trump's alleged virility and cataloging his praises in exuberant gonadal terms, with special attention paid to calculating the heaviness of the Trumpian scrotum relative to the equipment being packed by Jeb or Marco." There is then a lot of talk about balls, and that seems to be the favorite word of the intellectually "gifted??" Lowry. He says it a lot!

Glad to know we are all a bunch of idiots. And, "The Weekly Standard" is only a hair different. They use the same smear writers, but they at least are not porn writers. If I saw William Kristol (Weekly Standard editor) on the streets, I would stick my tongue out at him. If I saw NR's Rich Lowry, I would subsequently be arrested.

None of them or you guys will say facts. I want specifics and not this "not conservative" stuff from his past. We were all a bit different in our past, and God knows, I don't want my past to define my present. Get over that moniker. In fact, I try hard not to think about my past.

IN MY OPINION (I am not telling, I am saying - what I believe), these issues represent a true conservative candidate. Someone who wants:

1. A big border fence with a single door that closes at night and locks.

2. illegals back to wherever they came from so we no longer have to give them welfare, educate their kids and pay for their keep in our country. They are low-educated "tax consumers" and cost us EACH over $800,000 in taxes in their life span.

3. Muslim immigration stopped. I don't think Syria is interested in Christian refugees building Christian sections in their towns, holding prayer meetings and changing Syria Law to Constitutional Law. Guess what - we don't want any refugees who will not assimilate and get down on the knees to thank Allah for the gift of becoming an American and thanking our culture by assimilating as good citizens. Create Safe Havens in their own countries so their FIGHTING AGE YOUNG MEN do not come to European countries.

4. Balance the budget and give welfare a hike. LBJ was an idiot! Get rid of 90% of government agencies!!!!

5. Get Common Core OUT of our educational system and start teaching American History as national pride.

6. Repeal ObamaCare.

7. Repeal every single Executive Order that damned Pompous Peacock issued THE FIRST DAY OF OFFICE.

8. Let it be known that if Republican Congressmen/women was to become "The Stepford Wives" to the Global Elite right after being sworn into office, he will send Sarah Palin to each of their states to find their replacement.

9. Do an Executive Order to repeal the Supreme Court's edict on Congressional Term Limits and appoint conservative justices to that court.

10. Develop a coalition of true conservatives and take on the RINO's in the same effective manner that Obama created his Hit Force. Even the KBG is small potatoes compared to Obama's cronies. Obama was a master of intimidation. Cruz seems to always be on the front lines - with no one covering his back. We need a guy who forms a sold core of supporters and he knows they will SUPPORT HIS BACK! Cruz was a Lone Ranger. Won't work.

OK, you all have other issues, but I don't really care if Trump fits into your conservative graphs. He is the only guy we have who can fight for my ideas of conservative values and that is why he gets my vote. We must shake in fear about the Global Elite turning American into a world order of silenced servants. Remember the world all holding hands and singing in harmony? Well, they are writing the song. They will become the power and we will become the slaves to their whims. The Global Elite control our press, our Congress, our Republican Establishment, the Democrat Establishment, the European Union and they control Wall Street. They are the force that will take us down into poverty without a culture or a military and without a voice, and we are in the midst of a Revolution we may not win. Any candidate but Trump or Cruz (or Huckabee or Carson) will take us down, but only Trump has the "balls" to fight them.

Jo Anne, you left off a few reasons.

11) He supports Partial Birth Abortion

12) he supported the TARP and Bail outs

13) He supported the Gay Rights movement

14) He supports Planned Parent Hood

15) When he was attacking Cruz for fighting the RINOs in the Senate he was going to get things done and work with the Democrats, 18.5 Trillion dollar debt sounds to me we don't need to work any more with the Dems.

16) Before he was against Obamacare he supported the Canadian Health Care System that is single payer.

I sure wish that someone would fill in for me, I'm old and tired.

Ray Hause:  Thank you for correcting my error. How did I not add that one regarding partial birth abortions and supporting Planned Parenthood. Both travesties and, actually, legalizing murder.

As for TARP, sorry, but I am out of the loop on that one. Bail outs I detest. Against practical economics, but I have no clue about TARP. Sorry.

And, Gay Rights, I do not think that should be political. Been friends with too many gays, have loved them in their commitment of marriage, and not going to be judgmental. Has no business in politics, to me. Some feel differently, and I do not feel it is our business.

I am sure all the candidates realize they have to come up with a workable solution to Obamacare. Trump has promised that. Not the end of America as a defining issue.

Yes, I hate it when they attack each other, but, someone has to win and the winner is going to have to be very specific when it alienates others. I will never, ever, ever forget Romney, Mr. Nice Guy, letting Obama walk all over him regarding Benghazi in the debates. Romney said, "Lack of leadership" and then he let Obama take him down without giving back the obvious reasons and results of Obama's lack of leadership. Good Lord - sleeping on the job is definitely lack of leadership!!!!

Benghazi was Romney's ticket to the White House, and he was nice. Nice guys DO not win in politics.

And Ray, whatever your age, you are NOT old. We might get tired, but that should be from doing so much it makes us tired. When anyone asks me my age, I give them a number that still makes me still look good for my age but is certainly NOT my age, and I remove numbers. Therefore, won't ask your age, but just know, we are NOT old. That categorizes us. We are people who have lived a life that earns respect and a little representation in our government.

Jo Anne and Jo, just wanted to let you know that I just found out your candidate has never voted in any GOP election, could that be that he is still a Democrat, we do know that most of his life he has supported them.

Ray - needless to say, I am very, very interested in your research. Can you send it? Want to verify it unconditionally and will personally send Trump an email if it is true.

I have been a Republican since I first voted at age 18. Cannot imagine someone running for President on the Republican ticket who does not have a record of voting for conservative principals!!!! I want to believe a candidate, but that seems beyond believable.

You got me on this one, Ray! Please send your source.

Go to Liberty

Ray, I went to that address and there were no specifics about Trump's past voting record. I found many articles questioning Liberty's support of Trump, but am basically wondering how anyone has an accurate record of a man's vote for his lifetime of voting. Wouldn't that be illegal?

I know you are a man of principle, and you find below-the-belt politics as against those principles. You are, obviously, a fine man and Christian. Wish Americans were like you!!! But, American character has morphed. We are a nation now basically without the salvation of Christianity, and the accepted principles now guiding Americans are status, wealth, power, acceptability, entertainment, sex, diversion and even education. God's message is no longer the defining character of the American culture. Those who do vote for Christian ethics are very, very specific they intend to hold their candidate to those rules. Unfortunately, Christians are now out-numbered.

American is on it's last breath. If the candidate CAN POSSIBLY save America, I am not going to ask about the make-up of that life-raft. I am gonna hang on and pray a lot it holds together. I figure God does work in mysterious ways, and sometimes his Angels do not come with wings. (However, Donald's hair might qualify!) Jo, Oren and I are going to have to accept the gesture of salvation with a guy who talks the talk. If he doesn't walk the walk, you can tell me "I told you so!!!" for the rest on your life on this Tea Party line.

Jo Anne:

The Bible says that "Wherefore by their fruits, ye shall know them." Matt 7:20

Look at Donald Trump's children.  They are disciplined, intelligent, respectful, and especially so of their father.  Donald Trump's children are worthy of being entrusted with running his business empire while he takes on his new career as a politician.

And people have the nerve to judge this man as somehow being "less than"?  How morally condescending is that?

Ludwig, the Bible says many things and as for his children it could have been their mother who taught them much of what they know.

Our judgement of Trump is not determined by fiction but, in virtually every negative view has factional points, that is if one is willing to seek the truth.  Having once supported Trump and did send some contribution, however, in the last couple of weeks have started having second thoughts and they are not fabricated.  In his own words he has supported the Canadian Heath Care(single payer), Partial Birth Abortion, on and on.

Ludwig von Drake:  Jackie Kennedy said, "If you muck up raising your children, there is not much left to muck up." I have always found this to be great wisdom.

Trump has always said he was a great Dad. Those kids worked in the mail room, went to college and performed well in college, they did not get the freedom to screw up and they are running Trump's empire as he spends every single second of his life running for President of the United States of America. Trump is fully aware of his next job title and the investment of time and energy and commitment it takes. Trump is not going to look back at his company. HE RAISED THREE KIDS WHO CAN RUN THAT COMPANY - and he has another one in college who is an honor student with a double major. In other words, if you are a Trump - YOU PERFORM!

Like - I am gonna say this guy does not have his priorities figured out???? You said what we should all be saying more. The kids speak for the parent!!!!!

I'm going to address only one thing, voting record.  As a past Republican Party County Chairman, I had access to the voting roles, do you remember what the DNC did to Sanders, of my county and accessed everyone voting record.  So there are voting records available on Trump.  As for it being illegal, maybe so for I was a member of the State of Texas Republican Party and a County Chairman that allowed me access.

Breaking — West Virginia Lawmakers Invite Persecuted Pro-Second Amendment Counties In Virginia To Join Their State

West Virginia lawmakers introduced legislation to invite persecuted pro Second Amendment Counties to join their state.

The West Virginia Senate adopted a resolution to remind Virginia residents from Frederick County that they have a standing invite — from 1862 — to become part of West Virginia.

West Virginia freedom fighters broke away from Virginia Democrat slave owners during the Civil War.

This week West Virginia has once again invited persecuted Virginia pro 2-A counties to come join their state.

Sounds like a winning plan!

Resolution 8 reads as follows:

(By Delegates Howell, Summers, Shott, Householder, C. Martin, Hott, Graves, Cadle, Barnhart, J. Jeffries, Maynard, Phillips, Foster, Hamrick, Steele, D. Jeffries, Wilson, Waxman, Bartlett, Paynter, Linville, Sypolt, Bibby, Hill, Ellington, Higginbotham, J. Kelly, Mandt, Pack, Dean and P. Martin)

[Introduced January 14, 2020]

Providing for an election to be had, pending approval of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a majority of qualified citizens voting upon the proposition prior to August 1, 2020, for the admission of certain counties and independent cities of the Commonwealth of Virginia to be admitted to the State of West Virginia as constituent counties, under the provisions of Article VI, Section 11 of the Constitution of West Virginia

Whereas, The Legislature of West Virginia finds that in 1863, due to longstanding perceived attitudes of neglect for the interests of the citizens of Western Virginia, and a studied failure to address the differences which had grown between the counties of Western Virginia and the government at Richmond, the Commonwealth of Virginia was irretrievably divided, and the new State of West Virginia was formed; and

Whereas, Such division occurred as the Trans-Allegheny portions of Virginia perceived that they suffered under an inequitable measure of taxation by which they bore a disproportionate share of the tax burden; and

Whereas, That this perception was further compounded by the effects of a scheme of representation by which Trans-Allegheny Virginia was not allowed to have its proper and equitable share of representation in the government at Richmond; and

Whereas, That this arrangement arguably resulted in the tax dollars of Trans-Allegheny Virginia being used to enrich the Tidewater through internal improvements which did not benefit the people of Western Virginia, while the people of the Trans-Allegheny had little to no say in how their tax dollars were allocated; and

Whereas, Though this course led to an irreconcilable division, and the subsequent formation of West Virginia, yet, the longstanding peaceful cooperation between this State and the Commonwealth of Virginia is a sign that such separation, undertaken even under the most challenging and onerous of circumstances, can, with the passage of time, yield lasting results which are beneficial to both sides; and

Whereas, In the intervening years, the same neglect for the interests of many of the remaining counties of the Commonwealth of Virginia has allegedly been evidenced by the government at Richmond; and

Whereas, Particularly, many citizens of the Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont contend that an inequitable measure of taxation exists by which they bear a disproportionate share of the present tax burden of the Commonwealth; and

Whereas, The people of the Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont also believe that, currently, a scheme of representation exists by which the citizens of Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont do not have a proper share of representation in the government at Richmond; and, consequently

Whereas, The people of the Southside, the Shenandoah Valley, Southwestern Virginia, and the Piedmont believe that their tax dollars are used to enrich the Tidewater and Northern Virginia through internal improvements which do not benefit the people of these other parts of Virginia, while the people of these other parts of Virginia have little to no say in how their tax dollars are allocated; and

Whereas, In recent days, these tensions have been compounded by a perception of contempt on the part of the government at Richmond for the differences in certain fundamental political and societal principles which prevail between the varied counties and cities of that Commonwealth; and

Whereas, In the latest, and most evident, in this string of grievances, the government at Richmond now seeks to place intolerable restraints upon the rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution to the citizens of that Commonwealth; and

Whereas, The Legislative body of West Virginia believes that this latest action defies the wise counsel which has come down to us in the august words of our common Virginia Founders: as the government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of that tribune of liberty, Patrick Henry-who stated to the Virginia Ratifying Convention in 1788 that “The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun”; and

Whereas, The government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of a Signer of the Declaration and premier advocate of American independence, Richard Henry Lee-who stated in The Federal Farmer that “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms”; and

Whereas, The government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of that zealous guardian of our inherent rights, George Mason-who stated that “To disarm the people…[i]s the most effectual way to enslave them”; and

Whereas, The government at Richmond now repudiates the counsel of the declaimer of our independence and theoretician of our freedoms, Thomas Jefferson-who stated in his first draft of the Virginia Constitution, that “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms”; and

Whereas, The Boards of Supervisors of many Virginia counties and the Councils of many Virginia cities have recognized this dangerous departure from the doctrine of the Founders on the part of the government at Richmond; and

Whereas, These Boards of Supervisors and Councils have passed resolutions refusing to countenance what they affirm are unwarranted and unconstitutional measures by that government to infringe the firearm rights of Virginians; and

Whereas, The actions of the government at Richmond undertaken since the recent general election have, regrettably, resulted in unproductive contention and escalating a lamentable state of civic tension; and

Whereas, That, as has been proven in numerous instances, such as have been observed internationally in more recent times with the peaceful dissolutions of Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union, and the creation of South Sudan, or, earlier in Virginia’s own history, with the formation of Kentucky, the peaceful partition of neighboring peoples can occur, and, is often very beneficial to both sides in reducing tensions and improving the tenor of discourse over ongoing political and societal differences; and

Whereas, Article VI, Section 11 of The Constitution of the State of West Virginia explicitly permits additional territory to be admitted into, and become part of this state, with the consent of the Legislature and of a majority of the qualified voters of the state; and

Whereas, In a spirit of conciliation, the Legislature of West Virginia hereby extends an invitation to our fellow Virginians who wish to do so, to join us in our noble experiment of 156 years of separation from the government at Richmond; and, we extend an invitation to any constituent county or city of the Commonwealth of Virginia to be admitted to the body politic of the State of West Virginia, under the conditions set forth in our state Constitution, specifically, with the consent of a majority of the voters of such county or city voting upon such proposition; and we hereby covenant that their many grievances shall be addressed, and, we further covenant with them that their firearms rights shall be protected to the fullest extent possible under our Federal and State Constitutions; and

Whereas, Providing that the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia shall give its assent to any county or independent city presently part of the Commonwealth of Virginia having the opportunity and ability to do so, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia.
