Rand Paul: 'You can't have open borders and a welfare state'

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has his priority list ready to go as he runs for president, and border security and immigration reform are definitely on it.

"I think something has to be done. If you aren't for doing any kind of immigration reform, you're for another 10 (million) or 11 million people coming in unaccounted for," the Republican said Thursday on KTAR, a Phoenix, Ariz., radio station.

Paul then paraphrased American economist Milton Friedman: "You can't have open borders and a welfare state. We've kind of got both of right now — we have a completely open border and we've got this enormous welfare state."

He added: "So you've got to stop one of them, and so right now what we really need to do is secure the border. We need to know who comes in, who leaves, we need to make sure none of them are terrorists and then we have to control the border, that's part of it."

This is one of the cool guys at the top of my list along with two others, Cruz and Walker,  any of the three would make a great president!  Not much can be argued about logic; he/they look at the big picture(s) and speak the obvious.  Good!  All the rest  -  everyone's babbling is pure diatribe for pandering to special interests and/or party leaders.  None of it makes sense for any other purpose:  like pulling this country out of this huge mess it is in doesn't even cross others' minds - they just want to follow off the cliff so they remain liked (by the same group that put us in this mess?  In-group/Out-group phenomenon - hard to watch - thought everybody learned a long time ago - that is both the social way and financial path to disaster.)

One of two Senators who didn't cave into the Rhino alley or a Governor that proved reform works - all three have had to fight to keep others from attacking them and all three have done so with grace and conviction:  what is right is right - and right is also good for their opposition(s) - and "right" has way more liberties/opportunity for everyone than all that other junk being peddled.  That's not psychology, that's physics.

Katherine, that is the only three that I would support also. For the sake of the country, I would overlook the argument about Cruz's eligibility. After all, the issue of Obama's eligibility never bothered either the GOP (the Rino's ) or the progressive socialists (alias democrats ). And Rand Paul has the guts to tackle the Federal Reserve problem. It is un- Constitutional and the Federal Reserve Act should be repealed and replaced with the http://www.monetary.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/amacolorpamphlet...

Stop all benefits to illegals and require proof of citizenship to be employed in the US. That will cause a migration of illegals out of our country. The ones that do not leave voluntarily will be deported. It is time to start worrying  about OUR country and let the rest of the world take care of their own problems. The big problem all over the world is having children you can not afford to take care of. That is and educational and common sense problem. BUTTTTTTTT, it is not OUR problem.

I agree!  Our Country must come FIRST.  Apparently, Mr. Obama disagrees!

That's because the U.S. isn't HIS country...

yes, marilyn.  barry was raised in indonesia.  he is not american.  did the american voter know this before they voted for him, or did they also know what America stands for?  I doubt it.  My friend told me she voted for him because he was the lesser of the two evils.  The Republicans dropped the Ball!  They couldn't come up with a strong candidate.  I remember the campaigns and I did not vote as I could not bring myself to vote for someone I did not believe in, that was in the last election.  In the first, I voted for the Independent.  We will see what happens in 2016.

But regardless of the Candidates chosen, no matter who gets in as President, we are controlled by the Elite and the big Corporations.  The Big Money!!!  And so is Putin!!!

How can you beat Huge Wealth???  Maybe it will take a REVOLUTION which most of us do not want but do we have a choice?

You can't have Obama and his Communist Muslim minions and a Free and Prosperous Blessed Country.

Why is he saying you can't, when we do?

Even the Bible has numerous scriptures on being lazy, or a mooch.  One of them is this:

2 Thessalonians 3:6-12 ESV

Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. ...

People need to get off their butts, and being responsible for themselves and their families.

Kenneth, that is a very astute and factual post. I too am a Constitutional Nationalist Patriot. Iam curious as to why you say that Rand Paul is not a good pick for the Tea party. Have I missed something somewhere ? I did not get the impression that he was saying anything contrary to what most of us express on this site.

W, look up the Redeem Act and note it says non-violent crimes not non-victim crimes. He and Senator Patrik Leahy sponsord this act. In addition, he is a RINO who got in bed with his buddy Mitch McConell so he could run for President while being a Senator.

You know, I had forgotten about that bit with McConnell and Iam not familiar with the Redeem Act. I will have to take a look at that. Iam surprised that I had forgotten about his inter action with McConnell  because if there are two people in government that I would like to us for target practice it would be Boehner and McConnell. They have made Obamas agenda achievements possible. Well, that narrows it down to Walker and Cruz. Thanks for the heads up Robert. Saved me from possibly making  further mistakes in my conversations. Thats how a person can loose credibility.

Obama Lies Again: – Ignores That The Year After Signing The Stimulus More Than (4) Million Jobs Were Lost

Former President Obama, the only President in US history who had his FBI and other Intel agencies spy on the opposition party candidate, claims that he created the great economy that Americans are enjoying today. The only thing Obama created was debt and massive job losses with his horrible economic recovery.

Yesterday the former President tweeted an effort to take credit for President Trump’s successful economy:

Joe Hoft@joehoft

Of course another @BarackObama lie. He can’t open his mouth without lying. 11 years ago the US lost (4.3) million jobs over the next 12 months. Horrible liar. https://twitter.com/barackobama/status/1229432034650722304

Barack Obama  @BarackObama

Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history.

President Obama’s policies were a disgrace and a failure. He doubled the national debt in spite of zero interest rates from the Fed. His recovery was the worst in US history.

Also, Obama’s assertion is just plain false. The ‘Stimulus’ was passed in February 2009 right after Obama took over the Presidency. He promised to not pass any bills for at least a week to allow for the bills to be read by the people but lied as soon as he was sworn in. The Stimulus was hundreds and hundreds of pages of government handouts to Democrat districts and it was close to $1 million. This was not what America needed and it led to the Tea Party.

Far-left Wikipedia has this to say about the Stimulus:

Note that in his infinite wisdom, NYT economist Paul Krugman is credited with arguing that “the stimulus was far smaller than the economic crisis warranted”. (He also said the markets would crash and burn if President Trump was elected President.)

The data shows that the 12 months after Obama’s stimulus, the US lost 4.3 million jobs:

In Obama’s first three years he netted a loss of 1.5 million jobs compared to President Trump who has added more than 6.7 million jobs.

When it comes to the economy, the billionaire schools the community organizer every time.
