The political world changed its orbit Wednesday as Rand Paul seized the spotlight in his March 6 filibuster. Rand Paul -- not this author's favorite before -- is probably now the 2016 front-runner for president. But the difference results from fundamental changes in substance.

How can one day be that big of a deal? Because Rand Paul demonstrated a reproducible, winning formula. It was as if Ronald Reagan were granted just one day to come back to Earth to remind the Party of Lincoln of "how it's done." Rand demonstrated a repeatable formula that all Republicans can copy. It is the template that is significant.

But was March 6 "Republicans' Last Stand" or "Rand's First Stand?" What is most optimistic as the basis for this analysis is that Republican senators started showing up. The Senate floor was more crowded at 10:00 and 11:00 PM than it was at 6:00 PM. They felt it. They saw it. They "got" it. (Excepting one superannuated senator from Arizona.) It clicked. In other words, Republicans might possibly do more of same. If Rand disappears back into the woodwork, then March 6 will have meant nothing.

We need more like Rand Paul. The establishment Republicans may as well be Democrats for all the good they are doing. McCain and Graham need to retire.

All the demonRATS and about 90% of the repubs need to go.

...i agree, it's time to clean the house, start with the commander-n-chump!!

Paul's Grandstand made absolutely no positive difference and he accepted Holder's two paragraph note as the gospel.  The truth of the matter is that Holder stated that the President cannot, and will not, order a drone strike on a non-combatant citizen.

Who is a non-combatant?  What if there is an insurrection in this country, are all those that support such an event Combatants?  The traditional enforcement response, when a Citizen of this Country has been designated a threat to society, has been to issue an arrest warrant and pick them up for an arraignment, then scheduled for trial.  It is, and has been in this society, that all citizens, and most non-citizens, are innocent until proven to be guilty.  So, now, BHO can dictate what Citizen is guilty and which is not?

Sorry, Paul, better get back to the Constitution and re-read it again.  You are supposed to have a law degree....start using it.

I think that Rand Paul made his point and at least got Holder to answer and got the issue in front of the useless media so they had to cover it to some extent. This also exposed the useless RINO's, especially Graham and McCain. Also, Rand Paul is actually an MD, I don't believe he has a law degree.

I don't see this as a grandstand.  What was his alternative?  Either not vote, or vote against the nominee?  Neither of those actions would have changed the outcome.

No, he didn't get an ironclad guarantee out of this administration that they won't use drones against us.  There is NO ironclad guarantee to be had from dishonorable people.  Our Constitution "should" be "ironclad", but we see dishonorable people in politics trample it all of the time.

Rand Paul's actions are the beginning; not the end.  Remember the old Chinese proverb that says: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step".

Instead of picking apart Rand Paul and doing the left's job of keeping us divided, we should be rallying around the things we can agree on.

Benson---Thank You for reminding the people in this forum, that if We The People are going to win Republican seats in the House and and Senate, we Conservatives must find common ground.

This type of teet for tat, I don't like this about so and so, and that about so and so lost our last election. We had more than 3 Million (so called) Conservatives sit on their butts at home on election day because they didn't like Romney.  Said Romney would rule just Obama and things would not change in the country.  Really?  Really??

I will tell anyone to their face, two things for sure would have changed for America.  First, ObamaCare would have been totally repealed and Second, America would have a president that LOVED the people of this country and not hated them, turning all sorts of people against one another like Obama has done and is doing now with the military sequester defunding bill. Good chance even this sequester would have never been introduced, so that is my third reason.

America's Conservatives, Libertariuns, Republicans, Independants had their own personal & particular little nominee at the Presidential debates last year that completely divided the people, so because of other factors like voter fraud on the Democrats side and no shows from the right, WE GOT OBAMA AGAIN FOR 4 MORE YEARS.  Aren't we smart bunch?  NOT!

So, getting back to your post Benson, I really think we must concentrate on the important issues of our economy and where the next president of the United States will take us.

One step/issue at a time

Keep Calm And Carry On

well all tell ya what buddie he just did more them me and you all me and you are doing is lip smacking hows that fella he had the nutz to stand up i for one thank him what you wanna s McCain

Tom---one thing you are right about is that Rand Paul sure does have nutz, but I was moreso, looking to see if he had feet.  He was way short from taking his filibuster into the end zone.

Colin, all I can say is if you can do better than run for office, If you can't than appreciate the fact that Senator Paul showed a backbone.

Tea Party should have candidates run against McCain & Graham next time they are up for reelection ,Rand Paul for president 2016, Karl Rove neds to go he is the IDIOT that tried to give us McCain in 2008 ,and Mittens in 2012, if he ties to give us Jeb Busch in 2016 I'm voting 3rd party.

Pelosi Disaster!  95% Of Americans Tuned Out Impeachment Show Trials On Friday — Only The Second Day Of Testimony

Despite the constant hype Americans are already tuning out the sham impeachment trials.

On the second day of the public show trials 95% of Americans turned off the nonsense.

Americans are worn out by all of the fake news and hysteria.

Yawn: 95% of U.S. Adults Skipped Day 2 of Democrats' Impeachment Hearings

Yawn: 95% of U.S. Adults Skipped Friday’s Impeachment Hearings

Americans aren’t exactly obsessed with the Democrats’ impeachment hearings, it seems. Friday’s second day of live, wall-to-wall coverage drew an average of 12.7 million viewers on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN,

Flashback: Horrible News For Shifty Schiff – Majority Of Americans Don’t Want Impeachment, 76% Don’t Trust Dems And Believe Media Is Pushing The Sham

No One in American Wants Impeachment except the Far-left Socialist Democrats and their Corrupt Media. They hate President Trump because he is a winner. He beat them and he’s making America great again as he said he would.

The Democrats and their corrupt media are totally blinded by their rage and they don’t realize that no one is in favor of impeachment.

We reported a week ago that FOX News released a poll where they stated that 49% of Americans were for Trump Impeachment. But their polling was flawed. The real extrapolated results of the poll using an accurate proportion of Republicans, Democrats and Independents showed that only 30% of Americans are in favor of Trump’s Impeachment and they’re all Democrats.

Next, a few days ago we reported on another poll that was consistent with the results of our extrapolated FOX News poll.

Nearly three quarters of all Americans have little or no trust in the way that Schifty Schiff is running the impeachment process –

Heritage Action   Heritage_Action

You won’t hear this in the mainstream media: Nearly three fourths of Americans have little to no trust in the House Democrats’ handling of their impeachment process. 🤔

Today another poll was released with similar results.

Most Americans believe that the corrupt media is trying to help get President Trump impeached. Three-quarter of Republicans, half of independents and even a third of Democrats believe this to be the case. No one trusts Schifty Shiff or the corrupt media pushing his impeachment sham.

1- "Seventy-six percent (76%) of Republicans and a plurality (48%) of voters not affiliated with either major political party say most reporters are trying to help impeach Trump, a view shared by only 36% of Democrats."

Let's recast that last phrase

Rasmussen Reports @Rasmussen_Poll

Most Say Media Working With Democrats to Impeach Trump...

This is perhaps the worst gaffe in modern political history.

This Schiff Show does not have a happy ending for the Democrats. Even with the support of the entire corrupt fake news media, it’s a total sham and everyone knows it!
