New York Judge: It's Racist To Expect Teachers To Know Things

A federal judge in New York has struck down a test used by New York City to vet potential teachers, finding the test of knowledge illegally discriminated against racial minorities due to their lower scores.

At first glance, the city’s second Liberal Arts and Science Test (LAST-2) seems fairly innocuous. Unlike the unfair literacy tests of Jim Crow, LAST-2 was given to every teaching candidate in New York, and it was simply a test to make sure that teachers had a basic high school-level understanding of both the liberal arts and the sciences.

One sample question from the test asked prospective educators to identify the mathematical principle of a linear relationship when given four examples; another asked them to read four passages from the Constitution and identify which illustrated checks and balances. Besides factual knowledge, the test also checks basic academic skills, such as reading comprehension and the ability to read basic charts and graphs.

Nevertheless, this apparently neutral subject matter contained an insidious kernel of racism, because Hispanic and black applicants had a passage rate only 54 to 75 percent of the passage rate for whites.

ALL he asked was "I wonder...."  that doesn't make anybody a racist.  And considering all the racial division and tension this administration has caused the past 7 years, it's a legitimate question these days.  You can get off your horse now.

High horse? Do you think it unAmerican, unpatriotic, and/or unChristian to say either overt or subtle racism on the part of conservatives and libertarians even in the face of the lawlessness of the current socialist/fascist regime will help us? Of course not. I know you're not a racist although you're quite concerned about the issue.

But I can't say the same about Richard and I believe his last comment proves my point. What was Richard wondering about, was it if she was black or a Hispanic? Hardly, that's not what I read. He wrote, "I wonder if this particular judge was a DARKIE or HISPA?? (my emphasis). Both words are indicative of racial derision and bigotry and most know it, including Richard.

While it's manifestly unfair, the Left holds to and always has to a double standard. You know that. So no matter what the freedom hating Left does, we have to hold the moral high ground if we want to have a chance at winning the hearts and minds of the people. Hatred isn't the path to accomplishing those goals, love of freedom and righteousness is. Otherwise we'll loose more than the election this time, we'll loose the Republic.

So the issue here isn't about a high horse, it's about not wallowing in the gutter like the progressive Left. Are we struggling for a piece of dirt, i.e., land, or are we fighting for a concept, a dream, a hope, a prayer, the beacon of light on a Hill? Just what does the TEA Party Movement stand for? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Do I have my priorities wrong?

Richard. you're correct that we should be sick and tired of what's going on. Sadly, what's going on is no accident, it's all according to the Saul Alinsky and Cloward-Piven plans driven by progressives to destabilize society and thereby the country. We must combat it.

However, taking and holding the moral high ground doesn't mean we should be Pollyannas or Mr. Rogers and playing pattycake as you think I was implying. The Scriptures may call us to be peacemakers, but it also calls us to firmly stand against evil, and like you say, what the article describes is crap. There's nothing wrong with righteous anger. By the way, by training and profession, I'm a military man.

War is hell and so will be the war to win hearts and minds. It's not for the faint hearted. I don't think you're one who'll cower if pushed, and that's good. But approaches matter.

Quite frankly, I'm one who believes matters will get far worse before, or even if, they get better. I believe there'll be a revolution and the Republic will fail. I hardly think that's thinking everything will be A-OK. Yet, I'll fight to save and restore the Republic. I'm sur you will too.

So, considering the statistics of demographics, it's easy to be bitter towards certain groups like blacks and Hispanics. But what I'm saying is we mustn't fall into the trap of bigotry or of being soft pacifists. I believe it was Teddy Roosevelt who said, "The pacifist is as surely a traitor to his country and to humanity as is the most brutal wrongdoer."

So I encourage you to fight but please consider the manner in which to do so.

Does that make sense and is it fair?

Well said Roberto Benitez!

@Richard L. Park, I agree the terms used do have a racists tone to them. I do not know what is in your heart regarding others but when such terms are used, they can be interpreted as racists in nature.

My greater concern is that we have become so divided as a nation by this administration that even groups like the Tea Party can be caught up in the race baiting.

Let us remember that the Tea Party consist of people of all colors and cultural backgrounds.  I do not see "race" as we are all of the human race created by God equally.

We are all fighting for the same cause, that is to uphold the Constitution of the "United"  States and to preserve the American way of life which includes the influences of many cultural contributions.

There is nothing this administration and the Socialist/Communist bastards who are trying to take over our country would like more than to tear us apart from within the organization.  We should be mindful not to offend others within the Tea Party who may be of a different background because the bottom line is, we are all fellow PATRIOTS!

Please also read the Rules of Conduct which prohibit the use of racial slurs.

Thank you and God bless and protect America and all her citizens wherever they might be, in Jesus' name, Amen!

Carolan La Vallee-Rahman, Mod 11

I agree. The fight for freedom is one people of all races, ethnicity, and religion should join.

United we stand; divided we fall.

The facts are both Cloward-Piven and Saul Alinsky were/are radical Jews. The IRS and many other gov. departments are run by Jews. Is that racist to point out this country is being run by radical hateful selfish Jews and intentionally run into the ground by these same Jews?

Is it racist per se? No. But it's evidence of ethnic bigotry Mr. Bunker.

You claim Dr. Richard Cloward is a radical Jew. Not so. His father was a radical Baptist minister. I suspect Richard Cloward was a non-believer considering his socialist bent. As for his wife Dr. Frances Piven, her parents were Russian Jews. I doubt she was a believer in Judaism for the same reason.

But I keep hearing these conspiracy theory about how the Jews are running the country in order to destroy it. Tell me, do you believe the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are real? Do you believe Jews make Passover matzo with the blood of Christian children?

All the above point to an ethnic hatred of Jews. However, if one claims the Jews are of a separate race, then one is likely a racist.

Where do you stand?

Whatever, it just happens that the main characters destroying the country happen to have Jewish back grounds. You are ignorant and refuse to see the obvious. All your enemies you hate because of what they're doing to the country happen to be running the government that just happen to be communist Jews, yet they are the untouchables, right? You are a fool. You can't see what's right in front of everyone. That is why I've stated that Christian's are partly responsible for the collapse of the country because they for some reason have this stupid belief system that all the Jews are Gods chosen few. That is racist foolish thinking that is going to get millions raped and murdered someday.

I am only concerned for the country. I don't believe 90% of the stories that Jews are evil bad group of people. There are many different types of Jewish people, they all don't think alike, yet the socialist communist Jews are evil self center bastards that have taken control of much of this and many governments around the world, those that control the left media and Hollywood and much of the banking system who are setting up the world order are my only concern.

Archie, I'm glad to see you don't believe that all Jews are evil, just as I'm sure you don't believe all blacks or Muslims are evil.

Still, I believe you've bought into a lot of conspiracist theories. I also realize those who have done so think the rest of us who haven't are fools.

I think they need to go back to school and learn something besides getting drunk, and spring breaks before they teach kids. They paid out all that money for college and come out dumber than when they started.

"... come out dumber than when they started."  That's part of the plan.  I knew a very bright young man when I was a young man, and he began College.  He caught on to the plan, and left.  He explained, "The first thing they do is educate OUT the common sense.  Then they begin to indoctrinate."  And THIS WAS 50 YEARS AGO!  It must be worse by now.

Democrat Disaster! 53% Of Black Voters, 60% Of Other Minorities Say Liberal Media Trying To Help Democrats Impeach Trump

Thanks to President Donald Trump ALL Americans now know the mainstream fake-news media is an extension of the Democrat Party.

In a recent poll a majority of black voters and minority voters say the media is trying to help Democrats impeach President Trump.

And half of FOX News too, by the way.

CNS News reported:

Both black voters and other minority voters are more convinced than white voters that most reporters are trying to help impeach President Donald Trump, rather than report the news fairly – with a majority of each of the three groups holding that view – a new Rasmussen Reports survey reveals.

In the national voter survey, conducted November 12-13, 53% of all voters said most reporters are trying to help impeach Trump:

“When they write or talk about the impeachment effort, are most reporters trying to help impeach President Trump or block his impeachment? Or are most reporters simply interested in reporting the news in an unbiased manner?”:

“Help impeach President Trump”: 53%
“Block his impeachment”: 8%
Report “news in an unbiased an unbiased manner”: 32%

But, 53% of black voters and 60% of other minorities, compared to 51% of whites, said reporters are trying to get Trump rather than report the news fairly.
