Mysterious Blue Lines Are Appearing On Curbs Across America. Here’s The Meaning Behind Them…

...taking on a literal meaning in city after city.

Through the Safe Harbor Initiative, Anthony Welichko of San Antonio is urging Americans to spray paint a blue line on the curb by their home as a simple public affirmation of their support for the police.

“To all law enforcement who see this line, know that the residents of this home appreciate your service and dedication to keeping the peace,” Welichko wrote on Facebook. “Know that when you enter the neighborhood and see these lines that you are not alone or without ‘back-up.’ We do not need the media to make our voices of support for our police and emergency services heard (though it would be nice). Lastly, if you are in my neighborhood and mean to harm a member of law enforcement, know that decision may be hazardous you (sic) health as someone has that officers (sic) back!”

Welichko’s post has been shared more than 75,000 times.

“The war against police, if you will, gets a lot of attention. I get the sense that the officers themselves aren’t seeing that support,” said Welichko. “Every single day they’re here protecting us. Our families. Our children. They absolutely deserve that respect, and they need to know we appreciate that.”

Welichko urged citizens across the country to act.

“This is not an organized movement requiring one to join, sign-up or reach out for permission. If you wish to show your support the same way I have then grab a can of paint and go for it,” he wrote.

I think this is a great ideal. Blue ribbons around mail boxes etc.

ON Long Island .New York we have Posted BLUE RIBBONS on Phone Poles, Houses, Street Signs and every place reachable in SUPPORT of OUR POLICE !!!!

Our Police on Patrol in our neighborhoods can easily see, that they have the overwhelming support of our Community. It sends a POWERFUL MESSAGE !!!!

I LOVE IT!!!!!

I love it and will paint a blue line by my rural home. May all law enforcement know we have your back.

I live in the woods too. I'll paint a blue line at my rural mail box and make some fliers to let all my neighbors know what it's for. Lots of gun owners out here!!!

I'm with you...  I too live in a rural area, but we support our local law enforcement.  Ribbons, flyers, all great ideas.  Let get our communities and churches involved also, this could be a great outreach in many ways!!!

Bring it on - I could use a little more practice with moving targets!

Great idea.

The officers who put their very lives on the line for our safety each and every day on duty deserve our utmost respect and support.

If they get rid of the thugs out of the police service and start proceedings against gangster stile tactics when police brutalize citizens I will paint the whole block blue... until then I wouldn't lift a brush!

I'm inflamed to see a child murdered by a cop and say oops when they should put them in the electric chair. I'm tired of seeing old people winding up dead after breaking down their door. I'm tired of hearing that cops go around like gang members or a pack of dogs to beat a hand cuffed suspect. I'M FED UP... HOW ABOUT YOU?

In my opinion, every profession has some bad seeds that make it rough for everyone in that profession. For example, teachers get a bad rap because of the few who don't do their job to the standards expected. Therefore, teaching is viewed as a "blow off" profession! The police have many "bad seeds" who are willingly abusing their power which is causing havoc for the cops who truly want to serve, protect, and help the public. Just like in teaching, the bad teachers are replaced, so the same should happen to the police. A good reputation can be restored in time. Every profession NEEDS TO CLEAN HOUSE once in a while!!!

I agree that there are bad seeds in every profession but I do not agree with you on your example of teachers. Most teachers are part of unions that are almost impossible to fire no matter how bad they teach or behave..   Over the past few years I have heard of all kinds of bad behavior from teachers that keep their jobs/pay but a regular citizen that would have done what they did would be in prison for years and fired from their job.

Also you used the word "Many" in describing bad police.  a few is more likely the truth.

New York's Green Light Law - Allows Illegal Aliens To Get Driver’s Licenses

New York passed a law to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses earlier this year but it was held up by challenges.

Now it is set to take effect this week.

In typical leftist fashion, supporters claim this is going to somehow make New York’s roads safer for everyone.

Could it really be about voting?

FOX News reports:

Illegal immigrants to be able to get driver’s licenses in NY after legal challenge fails.

Illegal immigrants in New York will able to obtain driver’s licenses starting next week after a last-minute legal challenge was dismissed — making it the 13th state to allow the practice, but one that critics say is unconstitutional.

The Green Light Law, signed by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo earlier this year, allows anyone to apply for a driver’s license regardless of immigration status and does not require a Social Security number.

Illegal immigrants can use a combination of documents that include a valid passport from a foreign country and a valid foreign driver’s license, as long as it has been expired for less than two years.

“After waiting 18 years to have their right to drive restored, thanks to our legislature, New York can now officially join 12 other states in making driver’s licenses legally available to all residents,” New York Immigration Coalition Executive Director Steve Choi said in a statement this week, arguing that it will make roads safer and the economy stronger.

County clerks in New York have concerns and are sounding an alarm.

CBS News in Albany reports:

County clerks concerned by loopholes in Green Light law.

Undocumented immigrants now have the green light to get a driver’s license in New York…but several county clerks in the Capital Region are concerned.

Saratoga County Clerk Craig Hayner said, “We found that everything we were concerned about as far as fraud and all sorts of other things are in that bill, in that regulation and we’re very concerned.”

Hayner tells CBS6’s Lynsey Smith there are a few loopholes in the Green Light Law.

Loopholes, such as a person coming in to get their license and not having to provide their social security number.

“That could lead to criminals coming from other states, coming in and use that as a way to defraud by just simply saying they don’t have a social security number…and that’s a very dangerous loophole,” replied Hayner.

Does anyone believe this is going to make New York safer or that this is really about driving?
