According to an NBC News report, two of the nine financial institutions have complied with subpoenas issued by the House Financial Services Committee and handed over thousands of documents.
Wells Fargo and TD Bank are the two of nine institutions that have so far complied with subpoenas issued by the House Financial Services Committee demanding information about their dealings with the Trump Organization, according to the sources. The disclosures by these two banks haven’t been previously reported. Both TD Bank and Wells Fargo declined to comment for this story.
Wells Fargo provided the committee with a few thousand documents and TD Bank handed the committee a handful of documents, according to a source who has seen them. The committee, led by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., is especially interested in the president’s business relationship with Russia and other foreign entities.
Thegatewaypundit.com reports: Maxine Waters said on MNSBC’s “Hardball” on Wednesday, “we don’t have information to share with you at this time about what we’ve learned from the documents.”
Rep. Maxine Waters also sent subpoenas to Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Royal Bank of Canada and Toronto-Dominion Bank and JP Morgan Chase.
Earlier Wednesday Edgardo Ramos, Judge of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, an Obama appointee, ruled that Deutsche Bank and Capital One can turn over Trump’s financial documents to the House Democrats in response to a subpoena.
Democrat Adam Schiff, the leaker and head of the House Intelligence, and Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, subpoenaed the Trump Family bank records with Deutsche Bank in mid-April… because they can.
Just two days ago, another Obama judge ruled Trump’s former accounting firm Mazars USA had to comply with a congressional subpoena.
This is presidential harassment.
“The subpoenas issued to Deutsche Bank and Capital One by Chairpersons Schiff and Waters are unlawful and illegitimate,” Trump’s lawyers said in a statement last month. “They seek information going back decades from anyone with even a tangential connection to the President, including children, minors and spouses. Every citizen should be concerned about this sweeping, lawless, invasion of privacy. We look forward to vindicating our clients’ rights in this matter.”
President Trump is sick of the ‘phony investigations’ launched by the rabid Democrats and said he will not work with the lawmakers on an infrastructure deal until they stop harassing him with Soviet style investigations.
The Democrats are digging into every aspect of President Trump’s life searching for a crime.
Stalin would be proud.
Trump needs to direct the DOJ too start an investigation into Maxine Waters use of her office to obtain special exemptions for her husbands Bank in California and other scandals including her fraudulent use of government sponsored educational scholarships for her own children and grand children.
The secret service needs to investigate and recommend charges be brought againsts Rep. Waters for her death theats and incitement to violence against the Presidenet. The US Congress ethics and qualifications committee need to reveiw Water's residence to ensure she is Constitutionally seated and conducting her office ethically... or expell her from Congress.
Trump needs to initiate a whole host of special prosecutor investigations looking into a whole bunch of progressive and liberal members of Congress and the Administration's bureaucracy. Mr. President the left and progressives in Congress have declared war on you... it is past time you DRAIN THE SWAMP... use your Constitutional powers to direct the full weight of the Federal Law Enforcement and Department of Justice against the enemies of our Constitution and the office of President.
Trump needed to turn in his tax returns.
No he didn't need to give Congress or anyone else copies of his Tax Returns (Personal and Corporate) ... First, the law doesn't require it. The financial statements the law does require, him to prepare and make public, he has provided. Those financial statements and reports required are quite lengthy and exhaustive... they should be where Congress concentrates any investigation. The IRS code itself is simply to complex and easily misinterpreted... that is why tax lawyers, specialty accounts and firsm handle complex tax returns like President Trump's.
Next, his Personal Income Tax is not his Corporate Income Tax return... His corporation is a completely separate return and disclosure of its income and expenses would expose his corporation's enterprises to a lot of risks... for reasons people like Hank would not understand... Things like, Trump's cost for construction, hjis methods and terms of finance, the amounts he paid for property held for resale, etc., etc..
Each of his returns are AUDITED BY THE IRS every tax year. Thus, his accounting methods and interpretation of the IRS Code, by his accountants are checked by the government to ensure they were properly applied. Again, the complex nature of many of his business agreements: local tax policy, tax consesions made, offset sales or consideratioins (trades, futures, etc) are all legal deductions and methods to avoid unnecessary taxes. These items if exposed to public scrutiney would finaincially harm his corporation thur their exploitation by his competitors... Most individuals like Hank are oblivious and ignorant to these complexities. However, his political enemies are not and they will attempt to use his Tax returns as weapons against him... even though the deductions and application of the IRS Code were followed.
Finally, requiring men like Pres Trump to disclose the full details of their businesses especially publically held corporations ... will lead to many being ethically unable to run for public office... without the fear of dislosing sensitive business income and expenses, that could bring great financial loss to their corporate stock holders.
Further, the application of the complex tax code can be misinterpreted, by the general public, as being unlawful or unethical... when it is not. Audits of complex tax returns require such long exams and explinaitons, supplamental information, etc., by the IRS to ensure that no law was broken or that the code was not misinterpreted and or applied incorrectly. This is especially true in dealing with the reporting of income an expenses ocurred while doing business in a foreign country... a country where IRS take agreements and foreign tax laws make it especially difficult to understand what took place.
There must of been a rule change, because from what I understand all the other presidents turned in their Tax income.
Wrong... only 6 in the last 40yrs... .and some only gave summaries or one year ... not ten years. Nixon gave a summary of one years income just before being removed from office... FDR never provided a single return... he had stock in Nazi businesses overseas... as reported in his estate settlement.
see below for a more full explination...
Presidential candidates are not required by law to release tax returns, but every major-party nominee in modern American history has done so. The letter cites an obscure 1924 law that gives the House Ways and Means Committee the power to request tax returns from the Treasury Department for review in closed session.
What presidents have not released tax returns?
Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Richard Nixon also released their taxes. Trump promised as a 2016 presidential candidate that he would release his tax documents, but later refused to do so citing a “routine audit” by the IRS.
In 2017, Roll Call asked every member of Congress to release their own returns, and the request went unanswered by Neal. ... Neal requested six years of Trump's tax returns Wednesday in a letter to the Internal Revenue Service. Tax laws empower him to obtain individuals' tax returns.
FDR never released a tax return as a nominee, and he owned stocks in companies doing business with Nazi Germany according to estate records. In fact candidates did not routinely release tax information until 1976, though Nixon released his in 1973, after he was in office for several years.
Ronald Reagan (1980, 1984), George H. W. Bush (1988, 1992), Bob Dole (1996), George W. Bush (2000, 2004), John McCain (2008) and Mitt Romney (2012) represent every GOP candidate who released tax returns. Six candidates out of several dozen. In some cases, the candidates and former Presidentes released their Tax Returns in summary form. In 1976, Ford gave 10 years of summaries (not the returns), and Carter gave a single tax return. Kerry released his personal returns, but his wife (the wealthy one) released only a “partial” return after debate... because of the complex corporate return of his wife's would open the door to lots of accusations of tax fraud or other crimes... or unethical practices. Corporate returns are very complex and without detailed audits by qualified IRS agents, an examination of one's coporate return can be twisted to make it appear criminal conduct occurred.
More to the point, the real question regarding the release of tax returns is: Do tax returns convey information which the public is entitled to? To which the answer is: No. Political pundits and operatives want to search tax returns for information to discredit the candidate or opposition party's political figures. If tax returns have ligitimate meaning and content to offer, then all candidates and holders of political offices should release them.
In the last 40 years tax returns have been released by some... not all candidates... That is a very weak precedent to demand full disclosure of Trump's taxes. Remember, some of the candidates did not release complete returns... only summaries. The law requires a complex and full disclosure of ones financial status as part of the process to become a Presidential candidate... Trump fully complied and any pertinent financial disclosure was made. A full list of candidates who did not release tax returns would have over two hundred names on it...
Tax Returns are especially complex when it involves an individual with many sources of income, including FOREIGN income, derived from enterprises they own overseas. Pres. Trump is the first multi-Billionare to hold the office of President. His Tax Returns (corporate and personal) are very complex. Many IRS auditors, have varying opinions on varioius aspects of the IRS Code, making Trmp ripe for political harassment over his returns... requiring him to defend complex and difficult rules... tax disputes that often end with negotiated compromises in an IRS audit. The Dem's will make it appear Trump is violating tax laws when he has not. In fact, his returns are audited EVERY YEAR... without any criminal indictments so far...
So, why give the DEMOCRATS more fuel to feed fake news and accuse the President of more unsupported criminal conduct. The IRS has never found his returns to breech the law... even though they are very complex and deal with items that can easily be disputed one way or another due to the variances in interpretations of the Tax Code and its application.
Ford Company, IBM Nazi Germany...:)
A obscure 1924 law that gives the House Ways and Means Committee the power to request tax returns from the Treasury Department for review in closed session.
I got to find that.
In April, Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, sent a letter to the IRS formally requesting Trump’s federal income tax returns going back to 2013.
Neal claimed that Congress “has a duty to conduct oversight of departments and officials,” and in this case, that duty involves evaluating the IRS policy to audit all presidents’ tax returns. The letter cites a 1924 law that gives the House Ways and Means Committee the power to request tax returns from the Treasury Department for review in closed session.
