It’s official: Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is running for President in 2016. He made the announcement on his Twitter account:
I'm running for President and I hope to earn your support! pic.twitter.com/0UTqaIoytP— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) March 23, 2015
The tweet included a short 30 second video with Cruz narrating, saying that it was “a time for truth, a time to rise to the challenge, just as Americans have always done.”
“I believe in America and her people, and I believe we can stand up and restore her promise,” Cruz continues. “It’s going to take a new generation of courageous conservatives to help make America great again, and I’m ready to stand with you to lead the fight.”
As Breitbart Texas reported, Cruz teased the news with a tweet posted just after 7:00 p.m. Central Time, writing that around midnight — presumably Eastern Time — “there will be some news you won’t want to miss.” The Senator also made a similar comment in his appearance on the Breitbart News Sunday program on SiriusXM Patriot.
This makes Cruz the first Republican candidate to throw his hat in the ring. As Breitbart Texas reported, Cruz opted to go ahead and officially launch a presidential campaign, rather than continue to promote his activities through his leadership PAC or through an exploratory committee. Senior advisers close to Cruz had told the Houston Chronicle that the Senator was done “exploring” and wanted to get the campaign officially started.
Learn to spell. And don't assign your words to me, please:
"he absolutely cannot be manipulated..." I did not write that.
However, I will admit that Senator Cruz will have a very difficult time with the media.
Thank you, that's all I was saying. So perhaps my spelling isn't at issue here, it's your reading comprehension. Let’s not start the spelling and grammar Nazi thing, it belittles everyone here and it smacks of an inferiority complex from the user of it. Nobody is putting words in your mouth, it’s completely reasonable for me to infer that you mean he cannot be manipulated when you tell me he will do what he says he will do. Take it easy Edmund, if your not so hostile it's far easier to understand people's meaning.
Macon, what you just said will apply to any of our potential candidates and considering all of the BS thrown at him from some of our own worthless senators, the media will just be another bullet he'll have to dodge. I've not see one candidate that has stayed to his conviction to the conservative movement.
True Ray, it will happen to all of them and much of it will be brutally dishonest. Media bias is very evident on the national scene and I don't anticipate that is going to change anytime soon.
Cruz Control for an Out of Control Washington!!! We need a "Revolution" to take our Country back, and Ted can do it. He flies in the face of those timid, weak, compromised Lawmakers who meekly acquiesce to every threat, and assume their Job and Power, is not that of the People, but that of themselves. We need a New Party, well, in Ted, we will have one. Go for it, and let's take a brave ,courageous man and raise him to Leadership, and turn this Ship around. Sick and tired of the direction Obama has taken this Country, well, get on-board to Junk him, and his Criminal Cabal. Back to Freedom, back to our Rights given to Us by God, and back to the Constitution.
YES for Ted...
Finally a candidate with a pair. His announcement sent quivers of fear through Hildabeast, as she dreads facing him in a debate, and having to campaign against a 25 year younger, energetic, accomplished speaker.
Jeb Bush was heard to say:" But it is my turn in the Bush Family plan to rule America. I already have a pay back plan for my Wall Street Hedge Fund contributors and Banking friends"
Awesome! I have been wanting to see him run ever since he stood for o ver 23 hours on the floor of the Senate speaking out against the Obama-non-Care bill currently poised to kill both the electorate and the economy. America needs him in the oval iffice to attain a full repeak of every word of that deadly bill! He is also fully pro-life and in sync with every facet of our excellent Republican party platform, in addition to which his record of conservatism in every other area while serving the state of Texas through the Senate is well established. As a citizen whose Puerto Rican grandmother was born with the last name Gimenez, it will be a joy to work to support the man who now stands to become our first American President of Hispanic descent and I do hope that all of our fellow latinos get on board with his candidancy as well. What a breath of fresh air it will be to have a man in the White House who again celebrates the National Day of (Christian) Prayer instead of the Muslim Eamadan and who will stand up to rather than embracing despots like Castro as Obama disgracefully did at the Mandela funerall last year. Run, Ted, RUN! I think a Cruz/Pence ticket would be unbeatable and will gladly support his candidacy...all the way to the oval o ffice, to the rescuing of America!
Frankmusic: I agree. I did receive a letter from GOP asking for donations. I am going to reply no but will send what I can to Ted Cruz. I'll do everything I can to support him whole heartily.
Remember! - The primaries are the first battle we have to win!
Any money sent to the GOP before the primary elections may be used to fight against the Conservative candidates we hope to see on the Republican ticket in the general election.
Our support must go directly to the Conservative candidate of our choice - not to the GOP to be used to support another Democrat-Lite candidate.
Love it! . . . Wish I was creative enough to think of that kind of a comeback.
