Iowa Republican Gov. Terry Branstad says he'd like to see surging GOP presidential contender Sen. Ted Cruz get crushed in the early-voting state – slamming his opposition to mandates for renewable fuels like corn-grown ethanol.

The governor charged the Texas lawmaker "could be very damaging" to the corn-producing state, and slammed Cruz's support from "Big Oil," the Des Moines Register reports.

"Ted Cruz is ahead right now," Branstad said at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit Tuesday, the Register reports. "What we're trying to do is educate the people in the state of Iowa. He is the biggest opponent of renewable fuels."

The governor decried Cruz's 2013 bill to eliminate the Renewable Fuel Standard, which mandates that all gas sold in the United States include a certain percentage of biofuels like ethanol.

Iowa has become another of the government's dependent children.  Gov. Bransted is among the Iowan's totally accustomed to sucking on the Federal TEET!

Stick it up your ASS, gov......................

Sure Branstad, worry about Iowa corn while we pump the damn Ethanol into our cars. Being against Ehanol doesn't make Cruz a fan of big oil, it makes him a fan of PURE gas. Let the corn fuel Branstad's cow and only his car. Maybe next we'll be pissing in our tanks, then dropping little blue pellets in.

Ethanol is NOT the answer for any renewable fuels.  It's a big headache in Oregon.  It eats up your engine by destroying parts.  Shame on you, Branstad.  Get off your high horse and learn something.

Yea, most of us can't afford to run out and "buy vehicles" going into debt and struggling with payments to try and keep them.

Iowa Republican Gov. Terry Branstad hates Ted Cruz, because Cruz is the ONLY candidate calling ethanol exactly what it is. It's CRAP! It's just another consumer rip-off boondoggle that the GOP cronies have gleefully latched onto. Taxpayers subsidize this terrible business that provides no real benefits, except to make a few people rich. It actually destroys automobile engines, increases the air pollution and it further empowers the corrupt EPA terrorists. Notice that the hypocritical Left never comes out publicly to denounce the emissions produced by cars using this dreadful crap. Why? Because it helps to grow govt. - which empowers them. They love that and they will keep absolutely quiet on this issue. Nice, huh?

AND.........What the HELL is Trump thinking by supporting this crony BS business?  Why???!!!

why not simply ask him

If you could,..................wouldn't YOU?

One of the big things about corn ethanol is that the government subsidizes it. We need to get away from all programs that uses subsidies.

Gov. Branstad has got to be a complete idiot!  And are the people of Iowa as stupid as he is?  Well, no, probably not.  They just want their interests -- covered!  Someone want to challenge the gov. on the basis of what ethanol does to combustion engines?  Or what the corn does to the soil, requiring massive amounts of pesticides, fungicides,  NPK et al. supplementation,  And, for those idiots like me who miss the monarch butterflies, what it's done to the milkweed they feed on . . . )  Is there an eco-accountant out there who can run the numbers that will tell the truth????  I think I'd better go back to the ADLs -- the activities of daily living -- 'cause it sure doesn't seem like there's much hope out there . . .

BIG PROBLEM: too many faux Republicans in GOP!!!

The Biggest problem is: the seats in the US Government have been taken by Marxist liberals posing as GOP candidates. The US Government has been pirated by the liberals!

The Marxist Democrats have figured out how to WIN! They pose as GOP and Conservatives to get the seat!!

TIME to clean house! Call Terminix! Get rid of the VERMIN in the US Government and the agencies!!!!

Joe Biden Talks To The Dead: – He Worked On Paris Climate Deal With Long-Dead Chinese Leader

Former Vice President Joe Biden mistakenly claimed on Monday that he worked on the Paris Climate Accord with former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping — who died more than 20 years before its signing.

Joe Biden claimed tonight that he worked with Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping on the Paris Climate Accord.

Except the current Chinese President is Xi Jinping.

Deng Xiapoing left office in 1992 and has been dead for 23 years.

Biden made the gaffe while citing his accomplishments in President Barack Obama’s administration.

“One of the things I’m proudest of is getting passed, getting moved, getting in control of the Paris Climate Accord,” Biden said in a speech at the College of Charleston. “I’m the guy who came back after meeting with Deng Xiaoping and making the case that I believe China will join if we put pressure on them. We got almost 200 nations to join.”

Xiaoping served as the leader of China from 1978 until his retirement in 1992, and passed away in 1997. Xi Jinping, China’s current president, came to power 2013 and signed the country onto the 2016 agreement.

In June 2017, President Trump announced that the U.S. would withdraw from the agreement, stating that accord will “undermine the economy” and “puts [the United States] at a permanent disadvantage.”

In addition to the Xiaoping gaffe, Biden bizarrely declared in a campaign speech that he is a “candidate for the United States Senate” and that people could “vote for the other Biden” if they prefer one of his rivals.

“My name is Joe Biden. I’m a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate. Look me over, if you like what you see, help out. If not, vote for the other Biden,” the 77-year-old said at the First in the South Dinner.

Biden’s confusing comments come as Democrat primary candidates are scheduled to debate in Charleston Tuesday evening. The former vice president faces increasing pressure to give a standout performance as his “firewall” in the Palmetto State crumbles in the face of a surging Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). The Vermont senator is fresh off a decisive victory in Nevada caucuses on Saturday. Earlier this month, he placed first the New Hampshire primary and won the popular vote in Iowa. In a survey released Monday, the Public Policy Polling outfit said Biden leads South Carolina with 36 percent of support and Sanders is in second at 21 percent.
