Immigration dispute erupts during bipartisan lunch

A White House lunch aiming for cooperation boiled into a fresh dispute with newly empowered Republicans over immigration reform Friday, with GOP leaders warning President Barack Obama to his face not to take unilateral action. The president stood unflinchingly by his plan to act.

Republicans attending the postelection lunch at Obama's invitation said they asked him for more time to work on legislation, but the president said his patience was running out. He reiterated his intent to act on his own by the end of the year if they don't approve legislation to ease deportations before then and send it to him to sign.

The Republicans' approach, three days after they resoundingly won control of the Senate in midterm elections, "seemed to fall on deaf ears," Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said in a telephone interview. "The president instead of being contrite or saying in effect to America, 'I hear you,' as a result of the referendum on his policies that drove this last election, he seems unmoved and even defiant."

"I don't know why he would want to sabotage his last two years as president by doing something this provocative," said Cornyn.

The White House said that Obama laid out three areas where he and Congress could work together before the end of the year — emergency funding to combat the Ebola outbreak, approval of a federal budget and quick action on spending to fight the Islamic State militant group. And the White House said, "The president reiterated his commitment to taking action on immigration reform in light of the House's inability to pass a comprehensive bill."

The meeting was tense at times, according to a senior House Republican aide. The aide was not authorized to describe the back-and-forth publicly by name and spoke only on condition of anonymity.

Dictator Obama will do what ever he wants!!

Why don't you asswipes just ENFORCE the LAST "amnesty" laws????

Did anyone notice that Obunghole's meal was Halal? I am surprised he did not wear Muslim garb and start the meeting by praising Allah.

Don't give him any ideas.....

It seems strange to me that we have immigration laws that have worked successfully for years, I have to ask what happened in the past 6 years to keep them from working now?  There is no reason we should need new immigration reform just to accommodate what this illegal in our White House wants.  Is he thinking more about himself than all the immigrants he has illegally allowed in?   I also think, he does not quite understand that We The People made this landslide election happen!  It was not politicians, members of Congress or parties!  It was WE THE PEOPLE and we are The Tea Party, we are sick of him.  Congress had better wake up and smell the roses too, realizing that we want the usurper gone and his minions, run him out of Washington on the first plane leaving Reagan National to an Arab country,  with a one way ticket for he and his wife.  Congress has a choice, either the usurper or both the usurper and them, this is not the Capital Beltway around DC, this is a one way street for all of them.  We are pissed off and not afraid of them!

AMEN!  I'm SOOOOOOOO sick of seeing his ugly mug!!!  Do we HAVE to see a photo of him in EVERY article?!  We know who they're talking about.  I want to puke every time I see his ugly face.  And Gwyneth Paltrow drooling all over him "you're so handsome...." I could barely keep supper down.

Me too...looking at his evil mug and the minions drooling all over him make me puke...

No conversation regarding enforcing the current border laws?  It is treason to not control our borders and all at that lunch are traitors!

Screw Obama he knows better than to push the American people any further; he is bluffing and if not, he might wish he could eat his own words!

I don't know......I think Obama is way too arrogant, and no know when it's a good idea to step out of the way.

Carolan, I'd pay to see that!

Don't you just love the seating arrangement?  Reid is soooooooooooooooo uncomfortable!  Yipeeeeee!

Florida Sheriff — “I Will Not Enforce Assault Weapons Ban, Neither Will Most Sheriffs”

Dennis Lemma, who is the Sheriff in Central Florida’s Seminole County, told a group of 2nd Amendment activists recently that he would not enforce an assault weapons ban that could soon become Florida law if the “Ban Assault Weapons Now” amendment passes in the Sunshine State.

According to News965, the ban has the following specifications.

The amendment proposed in the state legislature would ban possession of assault weapons, which are defined as “semiautomatic rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition at once, either in fixed or detachable magazine, or any other ammunition feeding device.”

Lemma, an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment and a first term sheriff who is running for re-election, said this about whether or not he would enforce such a law.

“It’s not only that I wouldn’t, the majority of sheriffs across the state would not do it,” Lemma said in the video. It’s up to the sheriffs what they are willing to enforce.”
