Congress Wants to Tax Your Christmas Tree

Christmas trees are pretty unpopular, right?

The House must think so, since its farm bill would pave the way to set up a Christmas Tree Promotion Board. Its purpose would be “to enhance the image of Christmas trees and the Christmas tree industry in the United States.”

And it would be funded by a 15-cent tax on fresh Christmas trees—which sellers are free to pass on to you, the Bob Cratchits of America.

A couple of years ago, after significant backlash—in large part due to the efforts of The Heritage Foundation—the Administration backed off and issued a stay of this tax. But now Congress could make the tax a reality as the House and Senate work out differences between their farm bills.

When are these utter BULL SH-T "TAX" bills going to stop? We have an absolutely self servi9ng power mad Congress that thinks that they can TAX the very air that we breathe! THROW THESE WORTHLESS BUMS OUT! WAKE UP AMERICA!

Jonathon, RECALL...RECALL...RECALL, we just got rid of 3 of there worthless skunks here in works! Get organized and pass the's something we can do NOW...AMERICA IS WAKING UP!

Sidenote...#3 to go was Evie Hudak (a gun grabber) RESIGNED a couple of days ago rather than face the recall....the Governor is next.

Keep the Faith!

I have been saying we need to recall from the president on down, but every one is just saying impeachment. That's congress job our is to recall now

Can we recall Obama, Reid and Palosi ? Let's not stop there recall all the dinosaurs and dead wood in State legislator and the Congress. This country has never been as screwed up as it is now.

When the commies, Obama, and athiests expire.

The scariest sentence in the English language, which, by the way is unfortunately NOT the official language of the USA, is "I'm from the government and I'm here to help". People who raise Christmas trees should work very hard to keep the government out of their business. I know. I'm a farmer/rancher, raising corn, soybeans, wheat and cattle. Dealing with the USDA and their local branch, Farm Service Agency is a pain.

We are taxed on everything we buy, not just sales tax but hidden and not so hidden. Example when you buy
tires you pay an excise tax (whatever that is) and then you pay sales tax on the excise tax. You pay tax on the money taken out of your pay for social security and when you get to the point in time that you collect social security in some cases it is taxed as income. Any tax to business is passed on to the consumer and then taxed.

An 'Excise' tax is a tax on a privilege.  In the case of TIRES, it's the 'privilege' of useing PNUMATIC tires.  It's been in place since they were introduced to the automative industry.  The SALES tax is also an EXCISE.  But it's NOT ours (consumers) to pay as a separate item.  It is a tax on the SELLER.  He is free to pass it along to US if he wants to.  (I honestly believe that he should just raise the price of the item by the amount of the tax, and not call it out separately.)  The 'Corporate Income Tax' is also an excise.  For the privilege of doing business in a Corporate Capacity.  It is passed on through higher prices.

The one I find untennable, and which cannot be explained rationally the the 'federal' "INCOME" tax.  It is a DIRECT tax as it is forced upon us, which is as unConstitutional as Obomacare or a standing army, or New Yorks 'Gun Control' laws.

Dump the IRS. These pieces of crxp are not on our side. These worthless idiots have long since changed sides. We should have a straight sales tax to support everything. Every state has a sales tax, so it is already in place. No setup cost.
What is the point of taxing big companies? They have so many loop holes, that they pay nothing or very little. Check these out. A straight sales tax would eliminate all of the loopholes.

If they were not taxed they would have no loopholes to exploit. A straight sales tax would treat everybody fairly. A man would pay according to how high on the hog he lived. If a man buys a Rolls Royce, he pays taxes on the price of it. But if he buys a 10 year old Chevy he pays taxes on the price of it. The idiots always claim that money will come from somewhere else. They've got revenues coming in that will cover it, or their cutting something that will free up more money for it. Government has no money of its own. It is all ours, & we are the ones that pay for everything. It matters little how much they babble, or tap dance around it. The bills will be paid by me you & the guy down the street. Nobody else is ever going to pick up the tab.

Sorry not all states have a sales tax,  Oregon does not.

How about a 'sales tax' on NEW ITEMS ONLY?  NOT on food, clothing, or on USED household goods or USED automobiles.  This way the people who are the least able to pay will be spared the tax on necessities.  Used food is worthless, used clothing is not particularly attractive.  New furniture is really not neccessary.  Beautiful used furniture can be picked up quite reasonably.  The same goes for new cars.

True, government has NO 'money' of its own.  But it gives NO THOUGHT to spending OURS like a drunken Sailor on Saturday night.  They spend tons of 'money' we and they do not have, for things we neither NEED nor WANT.  And, by the way...  They have racked up a debt which, if it could be paid, which it cannot, would make the Founders roll over in their graves.

They don't need MORE 'money'.  They need to learn how to USE 'money', and then use it carefully.  They spend like the kid who just got an allowance for the first time.  In about an hour it's gone, and he's crying to Dad and Mom for more.  Big difference:  The KID doesn't have the right to 'borrow' more, with no thought of EVER paying it back.

I find it so 'socialist' of you, to call Sellers of Christmas tree's, the 'Bob Cratchets', if they chose to pass the tax on to the buyers. THATS WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO! Sellers are NOT supposed to absorb operation/selling costs..that is used to determine the price they sell the Christmas tree for. What is WRONG with you? I don't care that it is 'only' 15 ce.ts (right now)...that isn't the point. Consumers ALSO need to know that the govt is taxing their Christmas trees or else there won't be a possible groundswell. I find the tenor of your article outragious. #freemarket101

Joe Biden Vows: Give Taxpayer-Funded Obamacare To All Illegal Aliens In U.S.

Former Vice President and 2020 Democrat presidential primary candidate Joe Biden is vowing to give Obamacare, funded by American taxpayers, to all 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the United States.

During an interview with Telemundo’s Jose Diaz-Balart, Biden forgot that Obamacare technically bans illegal aliens from enrolling in healthcare plans — although illegal aliens are still able to obtain subsidized and free healthcare at Americans’ expense — and promised that under his plan, all 11 to 22 million illegal aliens would be able to get Obamacare.

The exchange went as follows:

DIAZ-BALART: When I … NBC moderated that first debate with you, I didn’t … I don’t recall a clear answer, under your plan should … would the 11, 12 million undocumented immigrants that live in the United States, that have been here many for generations, would they have access …

DIAZ-BALART: — to health insurance.

BIDEN: Yes, they … if they can buy into the system like everybody else.

DIAZ-BALART: Because you know, in [Obamacare] they can’t.

BIDEN: Yeah. Yeah, I know. Well they can, that’s my point. They continue to be able to do that.

DIAN-BALART: They cannot under the ObamaCare.

BIDEN: Well and that’s my point, they will though. They will be able to buy into … [illegal aliens] would be able to buy in, just like anyone else could.

Biden joins Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg — among other 2020 Democrats — in committing to forcing American taxpayers to pay for healthcare for illegal aliens who arrive in the U.S.

Already, due to loopholes, American taxpayers are spending nearly $20 billion every year to provide illegal aliens with subsidized healthcare, emergency room visits, and other health services.

Under the 2020 Democrats’ plan to provide taxpayer-funded healthcare to all illegal aliens living in the U.S., Americans would be billed potentially $660 billion every decade just to cover the costs. Other research has found that the plan would cost Americans at least $23 billion every year.

As Breitbart News has reported, experts have said that giving taxpayer-funded healthcare to effectively all foreign nationals who can make it to America’s borders would drive “strong incentives for people with serious health problems to enter the country or remain longer than their visas allow in order to get government-funded care.”

Despite 2020 Democrats’ continued push for taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens, American voters are overwhelmingly opposed to the plan. The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey revealed that the healthcare-for-illegal-aliens plan is the least popular policy position, with opposition from 62 percent of U.S. voters.

Similarly, a CNN poll from July discovered that 63 percent of likely swing voters oppose providing healthcare to illegal aliens, along with nearly 6-in-10 of all likely U.S. voters and 61 percent of moderates. A Rasmussen Reports survey also found that likely voters, by a majority of 55 percent, oppose giving healthcare to even the most low-income illegal aliens.
