"Tea Party forces will still win in the end," Theda Skocpol writes, unless moderate Republicans can defeat them. Skocpol concedes that the Tea Party "will triumph just by hanging on long enough" as Americans are getting fed up by "our blatantly manipulated democracy and our permanently hobbled government."
The article, "Why The Tea Party Isn't Going Anywhere," was first published in the journalDemocracy, and later reprinted in The Atlantic.
Despite the fact that Democrats, the mainstream media, and the Republican establishment again were predicting the "demise of the Tea Party" immediately after the government shutdown ended, Skocpol doesn't believe so.
As a wise man once said , the job is not going to get done by talking it to death . Just do it!
Same strategy here. Make a loud noise in Washington, then contact state reps.
Sounds like you've thrown in the towel, Mitch.
I've been hearing that message from the Abandonment Clergy for years:
"Man the lifeboats! Abandon ship! Let her sink to Davey Jones's locker - after all, what do we care, we're saved, so to H E double hockey sticks with them all."
Perhaps that's some people's idea of being salt and light. Not mine. I wasn't issued a set of judges robes when the Lord saved me because judging others is not part of my job description.
Let's remember the 7,000 plus Marines who sacrificed their lives on Iwo Jima and another 12,000 plus (Marines and Army) who died taking Okinawa. Two stepping stones on the path to the victory that paved the way for you and me to enjoy the liberty that we've enjoyed all of our lives. Thank God for these men of valor.
" - And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor."
That's The Spirit of '76 - no Abandonment Clergy anywhere near those 56 men. And we have them to thank for everything that we true patriot Tea Partiers are proud to stand and fight for.
Speak for yourself, dude. I am sorry your head is full of such futile illusions, but there are millions of us out here who don't feel like you do. I agree with others, however, we do need to unite. But we need someone to stand as the point man/woman, so we have a focus and can start planning what to do. If you want to stay with your "sorrows" well, its your decision. Me? I'm gonna fight.
This is such a sad state of affairs ! I think it is also hard to trust anyone nowadays to have your back when they say they will ! What if we get 2.5 mil people who say they will show up in DC and we get there and there are only 3000 that show up ....easy pickings and a way to put the rest in submission ! Me and the group I know here at home would go down guns blazing to protect those at home but if part of us leave and die elsewhere ...what about the ones we leave ! This is the conundrum we each face ! Maybe we can just crawl under the rug and this will all go away !
It was just a statement of the fear I think many of us have ....yes they want us to be afraid and I do think the longer we spend together the more that fear diminishes , our uniting is going to scare the hell out of "THEM" !
What about 1600 Penn Ave.??
