The Associated Press reports Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is pushing for rule changes to eliminate the 60-vote filibuster threshold in the Senate in order to "win confirmation for some of [President Obama's] nominees for posts overseeing workers' and consumers' rights."

But the question raised by Gun Owners of America (GOA) is: how long will it be until gun control is heaved upon the American people if the filibuster is done away with?

It was a filibuster that put the Manchin/Toomey background check bill into the light long enough for Senators on both sides of the aisle to realize what was in it and reject it.

The bill was defeated on April 17 because it fell six votes shy of 60. But if Reid is successful in changing the rules, then Senator Joe Manchin's (D-WV) gun control bill could "soon be brought up again and passed."

This is enough to start the Revolution over!!!!

Yes we must take our "White House" back we can't let these little demons get away with this ????

We are having more military planes flying around, but it didn't look like one of ours here in Anchorage , Alaska today something is up ???

My understanding is that the doing away with the filibuster only pertains to appointees, not to anything else. Someone should double check me on this, but if true, don't get your underwear in a knot over something that won't be affected.

Once the rule is changed it applies to all bills brought to the floor of the Senate.  Furthermore, reid's blackmail  offer to withdraw rule change was made if the senate agreed to appoint the nominees, even those appointed illegally by obama.

The change pertains only to appointees. They are not changing anything else. However, I don't trust them either. You put your foot in the door you can eventually get it wide open. The issue for the dumocrats is what happens when the shoe is on the other foot and the republicans ram though everything they want. In the past, this is what stopped the nuclear option. With the current class of idiots filling both chambers, they can't think beyond the present. Which also explains why they continue to kick our killer debt down the road. Eventually the entire government will do a self distruct. When that happens, be prepared to Lock & Load!!!

How naive!

When have they ever stoped when they get a toe in the door?   They will just snake in and "Bamb" we have been had

Gun control issues are a HOT POTATO for both parties. republicans have gone public with their anti-gun control position but many democrats are from pro gun states and know it can kill their political lives if they vote for gun control. Harry Reid is from a pro gun state, NOTE: the last bill is not dead! Reid voted to table it, the bill is still waiting in the top drew.  Reid has been on Obama's buddy list from day one, I have no dough they sold their souls to Obama ,based on we'll  pass any thing you want if you'll pass any thing we want! That crap went on for the first two years of Obama's presidency, it also was a big reason the republicans got control of the house. The American public is not as stupid as we think they are!

Not last weekend, but this is unfortunately sadly true.  On March 23rd at 4:00 a.m. the vote narrowly passed.  I would imagine we are all absolutely stunned (sarcasm) to find the ones who voted for this were all democrats?   So let's get them out there shall we?

TRUMP:  Trump To Give ‘Start Your Engines’ Command At Dayton

President Donald Trump will give the command for drivers to start their engines before the Daytona 500.

Daytona International Speedway officials named Trump the grand marshal for NASCAR’s season opener, meaning he will deliver the most famous four words in auto racing. “Gentleman, start your engines,” has been a staple of races around the country and world for decades.

White House spokesman Judd Deere said Thursday the president plans to attend the race. Track president Chip Wile confirmed the news in a release.

“Daytona International Speedway has been privileged to have hosted several sitting presidents of the United States over our history,” Wile said. “We’re honored that the president of the United States has chosen to experience the pageantry and excitement of ‘The Great American Race.’”

Trump is the third sitting president to attend a race at Daytona, but only the second to attend the Daytona 500. George W. Bush attended in 2004. Trump is the first to be given an honorary role in pre-race ceremonies.

Trump is scheduled to spend part of the Presidents Day weekend at his private club in Palm Beach, Florida.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a flight restriction for Sunday and the U.S. Secret Service, which is responsible for presidential security, also tweeted to fans that drones are prohibited within 30 miles of the race in Daytona Beach — a restriction put in place for presidential visits.

Trump has hosted previous NASCAR champions at the White House and last October awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to motorsports titan Roger Penske. Last year, Trump also praised retired driver Mario Andretti, the Daytona 500 winner in 1967, reminiscing about a ride Andretti gave him in a race car for his reality show “The Apprentice.”

“I said, ‘Mario, get me out of here. I want to get out of this car,’” Trump recalled. “We went so fast. We literally — we covered four blocks in like a second.”
