Donald Trump and Ben Carson have demonstrated more staying power than anyone predicted. But now, after the terrorist attacks on an American ally, Republican elders think their party’s flirtation with inexperience is nearing its end.
The reemergence of foreign policy atop the Republican agenda will force voters to reevaluate the outsider candidates, particularly as both Trump and Carson display a lack of knowledge about national security and the terrorist threat, party stalwarts said.
“The losers are going to be Donald Trump and Ben Carson on national security,” said Katon Dawson, the former chairman of the South Carolina GOP. “As the Republican base sobers up, they are the two, if this story lasts a long time, it's going to hurt."
Indeed, in interviews with current and former GOP chairs, veteran operatives, lobbyists and strategists, the long-held conviction that neither Trump nor Carson will win the Republican nomination has only strengthened since the attacks in Paris last week.
Fred Malek, who has advised multiple Republican presidents and is not affiliated with any contender this cycle, said the inexperience Trump and Carson reveal in their rhetoric will drive GOP primary voters toward another candidate.
Don't bet on this. More and more voters are bailing out of the republican party. we are disgusted with your inaction, your sell out policy, your fear of the minority in congress. If you cant do the job, then get out, and leave your benefit package behind, you did not qualify for it.
We need to get rid of the moderate and RINO republicans. In fact, its time for a third party to take over for the American public. Go TEA PARTY, GO.
I found out that I could not vote unless I was Republican or democrat. I had to change from Tea Party to Republican to be ALLOWED to vote, in the upcoming primary.
GO GET 'EM GIRL
Yeah me too.............I found out the same thing....I was pissed but had to be relegated to the machine.
YAY, TEA PARTY !!!!!!
The GOP establishment is as bad as all you Tea Party folks tried to tell us over and over and over again. I did not believe you about Romney. Well, that belief changed. I am actually glad Romney did not win in 2012 because he would have been almost as bad as Obama, and now Obama has paved the way for Trump and Cruz. It took an Obama to prepare Americans for Trump and Cruz.
Thus, we non-believers are down on our knees saying, "I believe!" Thank you, Tea Party, for having the common sense to see through the bastards.
And, coming closer and closer to the election, I am becoming less and less careful about my language. It is not meant for censorship - but strictly to represent my frustration with the creeps who thought they could control us. The GOP is a sold out group of corporate waiters - taking tips for orders. Lousy bunch of traitors - and that means Romney, McCain, Boehner, McConnell and you all know your local "rest of the losers."
And on the Fox TV "FACTOR" with Bill O'Reilly last night, O'Reilly and comic foil friend laughingly remarked that the TEA PARTY has become a faded flower and is nowhere to be heard !!!!!
Eugene - thanks for sharing. Was it the guy from Santa Barbara? All I can say is - JERKS!!!!
He's the Comedian that goes with O'Reilly to the "Shows" they perform around the Country. Dennis Miller. Bright and articulate and very funny, if you can keep up with his sardonic humor.
O'Reilly started getting under my skin when he called Jane Fonda a "Misguided Starlet" when she went to NORTH Vietnam and entertained the Communist NVA !!!
He ALSO is of the belief and said it on the air that COMMUNISM is DEAD and has been for the past 30 years !!!! DUH !!!!!
Yeah, and BENEDICT ARNOLD was merely an "Upset General" addicted to Pain Medication, and the Germans won WWII !!!!
They are BOTH TRAITORS of the Highest Order, but like MOST ELITIST people of WEALTH or FAME, they are exonerated for their CRIMES !!!
You may as well throw JOHN KERRY into the mix as well !!!
As a Vietnam Veteran I am STILL VERT BITTER about how the people treated us when we returned home. Being of IRISH ANCESTRY, I managed to rearrange many protester's faces in the '60s and 70's, which gave me SOME satisfaction, but the PEOPLE in general, fell for the PROPAGANDA disseminated by the Soviet KGB, that Vietnam was an unwinnable, immoral, and illegal War fought by the American's against the poor peasants of Vietnam. John Kerry enforced their charges against America in a Congressional Investigation ( ALL DEMOCRATS) in which he referred to our Military as Baby Killers, Rapists, and perpetrators of wanton MURDER upon the innocent Vietnamese People.!!!!
So as I said I'm an IRISH/AMERICAN......and I REMEMBER these things and will NEVER forget them; So if you PROTESTED against us or Supported the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong, YOU ARE TRAITORS and should DIE by HANGING !!!!
I watch the FACTOR only to see "Watter's World" and to remind myself just how GULLIBLE and STUPID Americans areally are !!!!
I am with with you. I had friends that went into the Vieit Nam war only to come home and be shunned and disrespected. The gov of the US sent them ...be mad at the gov not the soldiers who were drafted.
Personally I don't like any war. But I always have respect for the MIlitary.
Thank you for your Service.
I think a lot of the Viet Nam vets got a bad deal on that more because the Viet Nam war was the first war that people actually saw right in their homes on the TV. They got to see up close and unedited some of the atrocities that come with a war. I think they took out part of their own guilt-feelings on the soldiers who came home. After all, most of them didn't go of their own choice---they were DRAFTED. I don't think some people seem to be capable of deciphering the difference between military personnel and government.... hmmmmm?????
I still wonder about some of the stories I heard of people packing picnics and going to watch the civil war from the edges-------------BIZARRE. SERIOUSLY??? How could you eat after seeing a canon blow off someone's head and all the other carnage?
Up until Viet Nam, I think too many people still thought of war as being "noble" "heroic" "patriotic" ...and not that those don't always apply, but people just DON'T understand exactly what it entails.
Eugene, got that all right!
