Good Friday - The Hope of Easter

Friday, April 6, 2012. Good Friday. Today is the day that many around the world celebrate the coming of Easter or Resurrection Day. All over the world there will be people remembering what our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ endured in his last days on this earth.

We know that he had passover with his apostles. Then Jesus went to the Garden to pray to his holy Father to 'take this cup from him'. The Bible tells us, in Luke 22:44 that his sweat turned to blood. His pain and agony were so great. He KNEW that this was his Ultimate lesson to his followers and people world wide for generations to come. How can one man atone the sins for so many and the only thing he asked for in return was for man to believe in him and follow his words?

We also know that he was betrayed by Judas and given up to the Roman soldiers for 30 pieces of silver. He was denied 3 times by Peter and taken to court. Jesus went before the High Priests, then went before Pilate. Pilate found no crimes, but let the people decide. And thusly, Pilate sentenced Jesus to die.

Jesus was beaten. Some use the term 'flogged' others use 'scourged'. He was mocked, spat upon and treated unmercifully.Then given the Crown of Thorns
