Glenn Beck to tackle Hollywood instead of ‘wasting his life’ on politics

Radio talk show host Glenn Beck is transforming himself once again, this time into a movie producer.

The media entrepreneur is in the midst of converting a 72,000-square-foot movie studio in Irving, Texas, into a film center for Mercury Radio Arts, his parent company, he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Beck, who earns nearly $60 million annually from writing for TheBlaze and hosting his radio show, said he intends to produce three movies. One will be set in ancient history, one in modern history, and one will be faith-based. He also revealed that he bought back from Sony the rights to his best-selling book, “The Christmas Sweater.”

“The meaning of ‘The Christmas Sweater’ is that there are second chances,” he said. “It is based not only on my childhood but a dream that I had as an adult after I sobered up.”

POLL:Have you unfriended Glenn Beck?

The recovering addict became a huge New York City radio and TV sensation before packing it all up and moving to Texas.

“I bought a movie studio for a reason,” Beck said. “I have every intent of finding great artists who will tell great stories that aren’t typical.”

“Everybody thinks they know who I am because of my stint on Fox,” he added. “That was two years of my life. I’m much more into culture than I am into politics, and that’s where I intend to make my stand.”

To prove his point, he told The Reporter that he drew inspiration from movies like “Divergent,” “Lone Survivor,” “True Grit” and “The Magnificent Seven.”

“Hollywood is missing this moment to reconnect with the American people because they don’t speak the language,” he said. “Some of it is out of spite – they might not like people of faith.”

Beck said he wants to produce movies that are not preachy but that are “great for the whole family.”

“We’re beginning to agree that Republicans and Democrats suck – they’ve built this machine to grind people into the ground,” he said.” I hate this stuff. I hate politics. I hate politicians, and I feel I’m wasting my life. Don’t we all know what’s happening? George W. Bush was taking us down a road, and Barack Obama is taking us down that same road. What difference does it make? I don’t want to waste my life anymore.”

I still think exposing the politicians and their power hungry attitudes is important because if someone doesn't do it with a name and reputation, people will never be educated enough to make a difference at the polls.

Obsolutely right SammysDad:  There are good and bad politicians and if we don't weed out the bad ones, we will all suffer. I believe the dems are far more corrupt by using lies and deceit to sway the public. That party is hijacked by lefties that prefer socialism and government dominance than basic constitutional doctrine and govenment by the people, for the people ( all people ). They seek to keep people poor and dependent and sucker them for their votes. This is obvious. Glenn Beck is deciding to make a difference by producing conservative media which will help. There are many others that will continue to directly fight the politicians that lie and cheat.

Hey richard to bad you are a liberal progressive democrat that just can not stand the truth.  Beck is big and large because he speaks the truth and he will  be successful because of that.  While your liberal progressive television and radios are loosing viewers by the thousands beck continue to group and add views at the expense of others.  Why, because beck is not political he is american and the american people are hungry for the truth and honesty.  His movies will be successful with large audiences because the every day person will be able to relate to it and the whole family can do go to a movie without killing, rap music, sex and vuglar language.

I will chime in here and agree with Richard. I have never cared much for Beck's big mouth and bravado. His latest tirade against those who have supported and come to the aid of rancher Cliven Bundy really set my face against him. Obviously, he has a large following and I get that. I am just not one of them. I am also a Tea Party member and an Oathkeeper.

He has been brainwashed himself to not see the reality of what parts of the parties are real and what are not. Maybe it is because of his religion or his past addictions, but he seems to throw in the towel when he hits bumps in the road of life.

care to explain to me what part of the parties are real?

The proof that Government is too big is that folks spend so much time talking politics today.

While I believe it is necessary to be engaged now, it is only so we can restore Government back to a size that once again becomes more inconsequiential in our daily lives and so we can once again get back to things that are really important, like family and chosen interests.

However, those who claim that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats must not have been paying attention during the vote on Obamacare. But just as Progressive Liberalism has taken control of the Democrat Party, Patriotic Constitutional Conservatives must counterbalance this leftist swing with influence and more control of the Republican Party. But if the American people do not 'swing' with us there are few choices remaining, isn't that so?

I don't have any disagreement with your post and do have a lot of agreement, especially on extreme must be countered with extreme. At this point it's imperative, since the argument of slowing down the arrival of our nation's transformation no longer is valid - the transformation is here. Slowing down their efforts to transform our country no longer has any benefit, their efforts MUST be reversed now.

but.. on the point of no difference - yes, Rs did vote against obiecare.. but they have also brought us equal atrocities such as DHS. In this way, there is no high level difference. D destroys this principle, R destroys that one.

THE NEW MOTTO: "What difference does it make at this point. Watch a movie."

Good for Glenn!!  He is one of FEW who will admit when he has made a mistake, explain it all and GO ON!!!   BECAUSE of his FOX show, MANY, MANY people were "turned around" politically, I know a lot of them, and future elections will show it.  In the meantime, Glenn goes on. He WANTS to do the movie thing, he has the money to do it,MORE POWER TO HIM!!!

Yeah, don't worry about politics Glen while the country goes down a shithole! Use your popularity to try and right this ship of state.

Agreed Dad of Sammy, but the sad truth is that the only propaganda the dumbed-down generations might comprehend comes from Hollyweird.  More effective maybe, than preaching to the converted.

OMG!! -> Government Now Wants To Seize Your Car For Going 5MPH Over The Limit

We’ve discussed this on and off for several years now. Civil asset forfeiture is a legal process that allows the government to seize assets and cash from citizens without any due process or judicial oversight.

You don’t even have to be charged with a crime. You are assumed guilty unless you can somehow prove your innocence.

Of course, not everyone has this ability… if you aren’t local, state, or federal law enforcement, this is called stealing, and you go to prison.

But the government is actually a bigger problem than common thieves.

A 2015 report showed that law enforcement used civil asset forfeiture to steal more from US residents than every thief, robber, and burglar in America combined.

About $4.5 BILLION worth of cash, cars, homes, and other property is taken by civil asset forfeiture each year – hundreds of millions more than common criminals steal.

And it happens at every level. Your local cop can use civil asset forfeiture just like your state trooper. And then any one of the armed agents of the US government—from the FBI to the Fish and Wildlife Service—can rob you for whatever reason they want.

This travesty continues to grow because the cops who take your stuff get to keep it. Police departments and government agencies around the country depend on civil asset forfeiture to boost their budgets.

Cops will literally keep some of the cars they take as squad cars. And they make a fortune auctioning off the houses, boats, and anything else they confiscate.

Obviously this gives cops an incentive to steal, whether or not they actually think the property was used in a crime, or acquired illegally. Remember, civil asset forfeiture adds billions every year to their bottom line.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard arguments in a case of civil asset forfeiture.

Tyson Timbs was convicted of selling a small amount of drugs to an undercover police officer. He was sentenced to house arrest, and paid about $1,200 in fines.

But then police used civil asset forfeiture to take his $42,000 Land Rover which Timbs purchased with money from a life insurance policy after his father died. The money did not come from selling drugs, or any other illegal activity.

Timbs sued, and the case made its way to the Supreme Court, because every lower court in Indiana said the forfeiture was perfectly legit.

The case revolves around whether or not the seizure of the Land Rover was an excessive fine under the 8th amendment, and whether or not this protection against excessive fines applies to state governments.

And the public got some crazy insight into the government’s position.

The Indiana Solicitor General was arguing in favor of civil asset forfeiture when Justice Stephen Breyer asked him a hypothetical.

Breyer asked, if a state needs revenue, could it force someone to forfeit their Bugatti, Mercedes, or Ferrari for speeding? Even if they were going just 5 miles per hour over the speed limit?

And the utterly appalling answer from the Indiana Solicitor General was, yes.

That’s right… the official government position is that they can steal any amount of your property in “connection” with any crime whatsoever, no matter how trivial the crime may be… even exceeding the speed limit by 5 miles per hour.

This is how overbearing and authoritarian the government has become in the land of the free.

This is how much power your local cop has… and the power only grows as you go to state, and federal officials.

If there is any solace in any of this, it is that the other Supreme Court Justices were reportedly laughing at this exchange.

The justices seemed incredulous that Indiana’s top lawyer was using such absurd assertions and flimsy reasoning in his arguments.

So, for now, we can keep our cars if we get pulled over for speeding. But that may not always be the case…

Depending on how this is ruled, it could pave the way for even more egregious abuses of power… or it could curb the practice, and reign in these thieves in uniforms.

Just understand where the government is coming from. These politicians, bureaucrats and officers think they can do whatever they want. Absolutely anything goes, with no limitation whatsoever.

And that makes it a little tough to feel like you really live in the land of the free.
