If you thought you could simply enjoy your Subway sandwich without partisan politics, you thought wrong. Michelle Obama’s face is about to invade every one of their restaurants.
The first lady was expected to announce Thursday that the Subway sandwich chain will spend $41 million over three years to encourage finicky young eaters to eat more food that comes out of the ground or grows on trees. The announcement was being made at a Subway shop near the White House.
Subway will only offer a kids’ menu that mirrors federal standards for school lunches. That includes offering apples on the side and low-fat or nonfat plain milk or water as a default beverage.
First off, who wants to have the First Lady’s face all over advertisements of a sub shop anyway? Regardless of whether it’s Michelle Obama, Laura or Barbara Bush, it’s a cheesy and questionable advertising strategy in that it is painfully obvious that it will cause at least some level of controversy.
If I'm craving a sub I'll either go to Quizno's, Jersey Mike's, an Italian deli or some other joint. I DESPISE Michelle Obama!
Hahaha… Subway wants my business? Think agin, you fools!
Her face on the wall, I leave.
I don't think that we need to stop going to all Subways, I think we need to look at what Subways put this up. Most of the Subways are not owned by the Company. It might just be the ones in Washington. We can use this to maybe change more Democrats minds about this country road that it is taking. We have the right to tell anyone of the Subways that we will not buy there if they have that poster or what ever it is up. Don't hurt the people who own the Subways as most our privately owned. I know as I work with a contractor who services them and know most of the owners of those stores.
Good, thoughtful ideas, Daniel.
Paul: Good Post. Let those of us who like Subway, give our business to those who don't do this, and boycott those who do. That may make a bigger impression. In fact, those of us who aren't particularly fond of Subway might think about going to one that doesn't do this - there must be something there you can eat! If we show that we have thought about this, instead of having a knee-jerk reaction, which was my first reaction, it might make more people think about it. Also, let's follow Daniel Brown's and Judy's suggestions re contacting the company, and make the contact a thoughtful one - name calling just make's people not listen. - For whatever that's worth!
Another reason to STAY OUT of Subway. I started boycotting them when they gave Michael Vic an award for something after he was convicted of dog fighting. GONE GONE and GONE again. I don't care how hungry I am.
My view: her campaign has begun. Imagine: "I have seen what my husband has worked so hard to do "for" this Country, one I love so much , and even though I do not like politics, I feel it is my duty to run and continue to finish what he is (trying) to do" (to enslave all those who achieve and work outside the government and make it "not exceptional".) Anyone else think this verbal political vomit might be we we hear from Michelle Obama just at the planned moment politically?
My take is the candidate for the socialist party known as the democratic party may be Michelle Obama, stepping up to the "plate" because of her patriotic duty. (And, her birth certificate is not a fraud; what a bonus.) She could by executive order pardon BarackBenghazi for any of the heinous crimes he has and is comitting, as well)
We know who would vote for her.
Who is a candidate that would outshine her in any party? I know there is a Patriot/Constitutionalist out here who can present the truth and survive and win for our great Country!
THat ruins my appetite for Subway sandwiches.
Dear Subway Sandwich: Take your sandwiches and shove them where Moochelle's sun don't shine. I will NEVER eat another Subway sandwich.
