Franklin Graham has resigned from the Republican Party and become an independent, declaring that "I have no hope in the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or tea party to do what is best for America.
"Unless more godly men and women get in this process and change this wicked system, our country is in for trouble," Graham, 63, wrote on Facebook.
Graham called on "Christians, even pastors, across the country to pray about running for office where they can have an impact.
"We need mayors, country commissioners, city council members, school board members who will uphold biblical values."
The budget deal was widely slammed by Republicans and conservatives last week, who charged congressional leaders — including new House Speaker Paul Ryan — with "betrayal" for putting through a spending plan that financed many of President Barack Obama's programs.

What republican party ? I thought it was the RINO Party.
It's about time Franklin woke up. He said last week on Bill O'relly at Fox that millions of Christians haven't voted in many elections and that he would wake them up. That's good news. He must have been listening to me. About time. I've always loved the Grahams, they are great human beings.
MANY years ago I used to be a precinct chairperson but I resigned due to the following factors : all the gop ever wanted from me was money, the gop didn't care for what things I wanted them to do, and the gop never was there when I contacted them
if you want people [like myself] to run then there needs to be an organization to help people running for office and especially regarding raising money
What's his problem with the Tea Party?
I was wondering the same thing. He throws us under the bus, when we have been advocating defunding of Planned Parenthood also. I assume we are, or I am just "out of step" with this group too?
Could this spell doom for the GOP?
In Oklahoma you can vote in no primary if you switch to Independent. If I want to vote in the Republican primaries, I have to be registered republican. Check your voting rules before you switch.
well... you're 1/2 right. In Oklahoma you cannot vote in the R primary as an independent but the Ds have just allowed it. We'll see how that turns out I guess.
Tulsa has closer to the right idea IMO.. no party identifiers on the ballot. You can't walk in and vote the party line w/o at least putting enough thought into it to know names.
RINO RATS ARE DEMOCRATS.
And they're nasty and filthy too.
interesting since Franklin Graham has come out and ENDORSED Ted Cruz.
