Outrage ensued after a Fox reporter allegedly wrote an insensitive comment regarding the choke hold death of Eric Gardner. Erika Reidt is a freelance reporter for Fox Deportes. According to BuzzFeed News, Reidt commented on an Instagram picture of Kobe Bryant wearing a shirt with the words “I Can’t Breathe” written on the front. ” I can’t breathe” are the last words Eric Garner said after being put in a choke hold that ultimately claimed his life. The phrase has become popular among those protesting police brutality. Reidt apparently was not a fan of the phrase, and she expressed that by writing,
“I’m gonna start wearing a shirt that says ‘I can breathe because I obey the law,’”
Needless to say, backlash occurred immediately. People were enraged by what she said. Her Twitter and Instagram accounts were flooded with angry comments. One person tweeted, “Hey @FOXDeportes, curious if you were aware your correspondent @ErikaReidt uses social media to victim blame.” Another user said on Instagram “What a stupid comment, I hope you lose your job.”
The Fox reporter went straight into damage control mode saying, “I want to clarify in regards to the comment about Eric Garner, my account was hacked & apparently that comment was posted without my consent.”
The public wasn’t falling for the ” I’ve been hacked ” excuse, citing that after the initial comment was posted, she thanked someone for defending it. A comment that she claimed was posted by a hacker.
The Government is full of communists. Bernie Sanders Independent is outright communist and has spoke many times at communist functions. I do not think USA should allow communist, fascist or dictatorial people and functions within USA! That contradicts Liberty. I do not care if USA is a free speech and freedom society--communism , fascism and Muslim contradicts freedom!
Good for you Judy Doyle! You also must be a Christ follower :-)
Fox is liberal biased...! I don't watch FOX since a long time ago.
Better get your facts straight....over half a dozen (maybe more) self defense experts have said that the hold was not a choke hold but a head lock. Choke holds are not allowed by any police or sheriff's departments. With a choke hold one cannot utter any comments.....head lock, you can. Stop trying to paint a police brutality picture with your blogs.
What is insensitive about that? If the truth was told it was the guys weight that killed his dumb ass anyway not the cop. He was talking up until he died so no he didn't die from not breathing, most likely a busted heart!
Damn the truth hurts!, pretty sad when you get suspended for speaking the truth!
i can breath read english, graduated college.work for a living.and when stopped by police which i have been a dozen times.will be respectful. answer the officers questions, and stand still and not keep moving my body back and forth, and keep pushing the officers away from me with my arms waving all around.that would be resisting.and keep in good shape for 5 10 keep my weight around 175 lbs.and if pulled over in my car will pull over in a safe area, put my 4 way flashers on,and turn off my engine and put my hands on the steering wheel, were the officer can plainly see my hands.and answer the office in a civilized manner.and if i,m respectfull and answer his questions,i will be on my way, like i have been many times when confronted by an officer.see how easy i can respond to a police office and in a few minutes be on my way.god bless all legal american veterans/citizens
"...graduated college"????? I doubt it.
I watched the video several times. If he was not able to breath he would not be able to talk. When a person reaches a point where he cannot breath he panics. If Eric would have panicked it would have taken more than 4 cops to subdue him. If he would have obeyed the cops he would be alive today. If you resist arrest you will suffer the consequences. He did not die from the choke hold. He was breathing when they took him to the hospital. He died from complications of his health.
If it had been any other person white, Native American, Asian etc there would be no uproar. If any one complained people would say he should have nor resisted arrest. The educated blacks who became successful had to over come a lot of adversities: poverty, segregation, violence, etc, but they pushed on and did what it took to get where they are today. You do not see the educated blacks giving the cops a hard time, resisting arrest and complaining the cops are racist.
it seems that obeying the law and not resisting arrest has gone by the wayside....this racial crap has given those in the streets permission to break the law....any reporter that agrees with all of this stupidity should be fired....and every time somebody goes against the grain...they should not be fired...where is common sense and obeying the law....and why is political correctness winning the narrative?
God Bless Erica. FOX GETS THE NBC AWARD. LOOK ASHAMED FOX. WHAT'S THAT DION SONG THE WANDERER? OK FOX SING THE PANDERER. WATCH OUT ERICA. THEY WILL TRY TO DOUBLE DOWN TO JUSTIFY THEIR PREJUDICE.
