Feds Paid $1 Billion in Social Security Benefits to Individuals Without a SSN

The agency’s inspector general found errors in the government’s documentation for representative payees, otherwise known as individuals who receive retirement or disability payments on behalf of another person who is incapable of managing the benefits themselves.

The audit released Friday found thousands of cases where there was no SSN on file.

Over the last decade, the agency paid $1 billion to 22,426 representative payees who "did not have an SSN, and SSA had not followed its policy to retain the paper application."

“Furthermore, unless it takes corrective action, we estimate SSA will pay about $182.5 million in benefits, annually, to representative payees who do not have an SSN or paper application supporting their selection,” the inspector general said.

The inspector general also found the agency paid $853.1 million in benefits since 2004 to individuals who had been terminated as representative payees by the agency.

The inspector general said the errors occurred because the agency did not keep paper applications supporting an individual’s case to receive benefits on behalf of another and did not update its system if their status was terminated.

Only six percent of representative payees had SSNs that were properly recorded, based on the audit’s sample of 100 beneficiaries.

Government benefits are also going to illegal aliens through the representative payee system. 17 percent of representative payees in the sample did not have an SSN recorded because they were undocumented noncitizens, the inspector general said.

Reagan was right.

I would like to see that.........brick thing  ha ha

THey ALSO 'BORROW' from it.  If you were to check the records of Social Security, you would fine a ton of I.O.U.'s.  Not a single one has been made good since the beginning.

The Social Security system was a communist gimmick to take people's money, bank it, and then give it to third world immigrants.

The day I went to the Social Security office, after retiring, I was the ONLY white person in the room.  I heard other languages, I heard interpreters, the children were interpreting for their parents, who I suspect never put a dime in the system.  It opened my eyes many years ago.

Social Security sounds good, but the politicians have been using it for other causes.

Social Security taxes are an illusion... they are being used to finance our government instead of being held in a lock box... the IOU's are not secured and are subject to liquidation upon bankruptcy.  The 12.4% paid by all working Americans.  This is an unconstitutional direct tax ... Disguised as a government run insurance and retirement program.

However, its promises are not underwritten by reserves held to guarantee such payments... like private insurers. In stead it is the worlds largest PONZI scheme and now that the numbers of new enrollees is in dramatic decline and the Baby Boomers are looking for payouts... the system is on the verge of collapse.

The government has borrowed from the social security trust... to finance its expenditures... there are only IOU's in the Social Security Trust Fund... If the government goes bankrupt or our currency become insolvent.... the IOU's in the Socials Security lock box will become worthless and any payments to social security recipients will be eaten up by hyper inflation or simply stop.

All of our taxes are direct, except sales tax, so they are all illegal plunder.

Absolutely TRUE!  So let's get them OUT!

Take that same $1 billion out of the pension funds for Social Security Workers who let this happen.

That's a good idea start taking from all government workers.

Prosecute those receiving such benefits and as part of the penalty ... confiscate and sell all their assets, returning any funds to the Social Security Administration.  All... ALL... payments made where no social security number exists should be STOPPED IMMIDIATELY and a criminal investigation started.

Any government employee found negligent or culpable in a crime should be fired and prosecuted... hold the bureaucracy responsible for not doing their jobs.  Seize their retirement and any assets if they prove to be culpable.

this is Crazy stupid!

Horrible: Democrats Set The Constitution On Fire With Fraudulent Impeachment

House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning after an investigation that violated fundamental provisions of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The investigation of the president began with the complaint of a so-called “whistleblower” who turned out to be a rogue Central Intelligence Agency employee, protected by a lawyer who had called for a “coup” against Trump in early 2017.

Democrats first demanded that the “whistleblower” be allowed to testify. But after House Intelligence Committee chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was found to have lied about his committee’s contact with the “whistleblower,” and after details of the “whistleblower’s” bias began to leak, Democrats reversed course. In violation of the President Trump’s Sixth Amendment right to confront his accuser, Democrats refused to allow the “whistleblower” to testify. They argue the president’s procedural rights, even if they existed, would not apply until he was tried in the Senate — but they also invented a fraudulent “right to anonymity” that, they hope, might conceal the whistleblower even then.

Schiff began the “impeachment inquiry” in secret, behind the closed doors of the Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility (SCIF) in the basement of the U.S. Capitol, even though none of the testimony was deemed classified. Few members of Congress were allowed access. Schiff allowed selective bits of testimony to leak to friendly media, while withholding transcripts of testimony.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), having allowed the secret process to unfold, legitimized it with a party-line vote authorizing the inquiry. The House resolution denied President Trump the procedural rights enjoyed by Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, and denied the minority party the traditional right to object to witnesses called by the majority.

Rather than the House Judiciary Committee, which traditionally handles impeachment, Pelosi also deputized the House Intelligence Committee to conduct fact-finding; the Judiciary Committee was turned into a rubber stamp. Schiff held a few public hearings, but often failed to release transcripts containing exculpatory evidence until after they had passed.

In the course of the Intelligence Committee’s investigation, Schiff quietly spied on the telephone records of his Republican counterpart, Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA). He also snooped on the phone records of a journalist, John Solomon; and on the phone records of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, acting as President Trump’s personal lawyer.

Schiff’s eavesdropping violated both the First Amendment right to press freedom and the Sixth Amendment right to counsel. Yet he proceeded undeterred by constitutional rights, publishing the phone logs in his committee’s report without warning, confirmation, or explanation, alleging that Nunes and the others were part of a conspiracy to assist the president’s allegedly impeachable conduct. When Republicans on the Judiciary Committee asked the Intelligence Committee’s majority counsel, Daniel Goldman, to explain the phone logs, he refused to answer,

Ironically, Schiff had done exactly what Democrats accuse Trump of doing: abused his power to dig up dirt on political opponents, then obstructed a congressional investigation into his party’s and his committee’s misconduct.

Democrats’ articles of impeachment include one for the dubious charge of “abuse of power,” which is not mentioned in the Constitution; and one for “obstruction of Congress,” which in this case is an abuse of power in itself.

Alexander Hamilton, writing about impeachment in Federalist 65, warned that “there will always be the greatest danger that the decision will be regulated more by the comparative strength of parties, than by the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt.” Democrats have fulfilled Hamilton’s worst fears.

The Trump impeachment will soon replace the 1868 impeachment of President Andrew Johnson — which the House Judiciary Committee staff actually cited as a positive precedent — as the worst in American history.

In service of their “coup,” Democrats have trampled the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Republic has never been in greater danger.

You don't get to interrupt me
