Dem Hoyer: Children Would ‘Just Stand at the Fence’ If U.S. Builds Border Barrier

House Democratic Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) says illegal immigrant children would “just stand at the fence” if the federal government built the double-layered fence required under the 2006 Secure Fence Act.

During a press briefing Tuesday, asked Hoyer, “Should Congress revisit building a physical, double-layered fence as was included in the 2006 Secure Fence Act?”

POLL: Should birthright citizenship be denied for U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants?

“Let’s say you build a fence, just hypothetically, and you saw five hundred children standing at the fence, and you saw them standing there 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 96 hours. There’s a fence there and they can’t go anywhere and they stay there. What do you do?” Hoyer responded.

“This is a humanitarian crisis, not a…these are children who are being used, or children who are fleeing from what they perceive to be danger,” he added.

“The issue is, most of these children, as I understand, are not sneaking across the border,” Hoyer continued. “Most of these children are wanting to be taken into custody. And yes you could build a fence so they could just stand at the fence, and they’re…one was a four-year-old child.” also asked Hoyer: But would they even come if there was a fence?

“Well, and they may not,” he replied. “But clearly we have to indicate that they…we cannot give these children sanctuary except under extraordinary circumstances. Obviously we have refugee status and protective status for people. But just the wholesale coming over the border, children of either teens or less, is not sustainable in the United States.

THAT'S EXACTLY CORRECT, DEM-WIT! THEY WOULD STAND AT THE FENCE ON MEXICO'S SIDE. If that had happened from the get-go, there would be no invasion. We'll let you and Mrs. Dem-Wit go on the Mexican side and find their parents!

Stand in line at the border or immigration?  After awhile they'll figure it out.  If they can't they don't belong here...Semper Fi Nam 66-67

Steny Hoyer has always been what the horse leaves behind.   Why doesn't he take them to his home?

Eventually they would just go home and stop coming.......

MEXICO must face their irresponsible action of letting these people use their "country" aka drug cartel as a

Mule trail and take care of those people with their abundant drug revenues...

mr hoyer ,if i saw 500 hundred children standing  at the fence for 96 hours,i would tell the police were our there parents, and go after there parents for allowing these children,to go alone which is a crime,if there parents our in the usa, then i would first see if the parents are here legally, and if they are i would bring charges against these parents for allowing these kids to be in a very dangerous position, and let there parents be jailed, and if the parents are here illegally then i would charge  the parents for endangering the welfare of a minor, and deport the parents and there children.

Gohmert: Dems Will Drag Out Impeachment — Try To Get ‘Best Socialist’ Nominated For President

During an appearance on Huntsville, AL radio’s WVNN on Thursday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) offered his best assessment of what House Democrats were trying to accomplish with their impeachment efforts.

Gohmert told WVNN’s “The Jeff Poor Show” impeachment could tie up the Democratic Party’s presidential campaign efforts but predicted Democrats would use the occasion to nominate “the best socialist” they can.

“They would lose in the Senate,” Gohmert said on impeachment. “And besides that, the entire time it was on trial in the Senate, the Democrats who are running for president wouldn’t be allowed to campaign. That’s in the Constitution. They wouldn’t be able to campaign. I just can’t imagine them wanting to do that because if they send it to the Senate, they have now perfectly set up the scenario of 1996, where they will reassure Donald Trump is reelected as president. They don’t want to do that. They’re probably going to drag this thing out as long as they possibly can … through Iowa, through primaries — try to get the best socialist they can to be nominated.”

“Then just end up and say, ‘Now we’re close enough to the general election. We’ve thrown mud at the president through the House,’” he continued. “What they’re really doing — they’re using taxpayer funds to campaign against Trump. That’s all this is — a campaign fund that taxpayers are paying for in order to try to throw mud at the president. I’ll be surprised if they have that vote, but I can’t imagine they want to set up this president for reelection by having a trial in the Senate where they lose.”
